  1. Hi
  2. Clearly we have an Orphan Black situation going on, clone-bro
  3. Welcome to the Shard!
  4. Oo that's a beautiful painting, wait-a-minute... *gasp* that's me!
  5. That is true, Lift being able to partially interact with the Cognitive might've played a part in her being awake after the Tower's protections were reversed. Her using Lifelight definitely played a part. I just think having the Surge of Progression also played a part. As for Odium having a Surge. I don't think there's any Surge that's only of Odium or too close to Odium. Odium did apparently fuel Surges on Ashyn, and Bondsmith powers were hinted to have been the cause behind their destruction but Odium apparently doesn't have the ability to give Adhesion (otherwise he'd have given it to the Fused). The text seems to suggest that a Dawnshard was used on Ashyn, that might've been how that went down. All nine other Surges are used by the Fused. But it's certainly possible that some Surges might be closer to him. If that's the case, I think it would be among the ones we haven't seen or seen much of from the Fused: Division, Illumination and Transformation. All three can be pretty Odious: Division, divide rather than unite; Illumination: Odium's futuresight has been alluded to multiple times at this point; Transformation: Corrupting spren
  6. Quantus said all I wanted to say about the qualities of the two eras. I chose Era 2 because it is a lot more digestible and fun and rereadable, of course all those qualities are subjective and whether or not those qualities are good for judging a book is also subjective, I've just found myself liking era 2 more and more with time.
  7. I like to think that I am the annoying sibling, but my sister's certainly made me reconsider that thought multiple times, lol
  8. Hey, are you alright? I haven't seen you online for a long while...

I see a lot of people have already beaten me to the punch... You're being missed! Hope to see again soon!

  9. The Mistspren were among the first to start Bonding again. Hmm... maybe like the Reachers, they too sought an alternative? It might have something to do with why they manifest in so ephemeral a form, they might be easier to change, or it might have something to do with why their Order is also at the centre of the Surgebinding chart.
  10. It really was a beautiful moment. Welcome to the Shard. I'm happy to hear the book helped you. Hope to see you around on the forums!
  11. Hi @Nick_Nack_Patty_Whack, I'm dad! Hope you have an amazing day too!
  12. Hello, @Isillor. Which Shardworld would you choose to live in, if you were given the option to do so?
  13. Progression is probably close to Cultivation, not quite as close as Adhesion is to Honor, but close. The Orders corresponding to the female Heralds seemed to be closer to Cultivation, plus the two Orders with access to Progression: Truthwatchers and Edgedancers, the former's glyph is green and resembles foliage, and the latter's Radiant spren call themselves Cultivationspren (and look like it too!). Plus, if Lift being able to use it was only due to her using Lifelight rather than Stormlight, why couldn't she use Abrasion? If Lifelight, Cultivation's Investiture, is better for using Progression than Abrasion, why might that be so?
  14. If Lift having Lifelight is the only reason she was awake and use Surgebinding why was she only able to use the Surge of Progression and not Abrasion?
  15. Okay so this time actually about Kaladin's red-yellow eyes and not Odium's colours: Odium has Invested and integrated with Roshar. There's plenty of other characters who are interacting with multiple Lights / Investitures: Renarin & Rlain: whose spren were originally closer to Cultivation than Honor, and have now been Corrupted by Sja-Anat with Odium's Investiture. Venli can use Voidlight to fuel Surgebinding. I think whatever happened with Kaladin was a natural effect of this integration, Odium becoming one of the pure notes of Roshar. Kaladin was able to access Odium's Investiture because Odium was trying to Connect with him via Vyre with their Visions.
  16. Welcome to the Shard! Sazed is pretty fantastic, I can't agree with the people who don't dislike how his character was handled in era 2, and that was the most groan-worthy response to the Problem of Evil.
  17. Yeah, I had the same issue
  18. Hmm... so do you guys think Adin's going to become a more prominent character in the back half? Another child PoV character... people are already annoyed with Lift (sorry guys!). He got a PoV in Part 5 but his name wasn't mentioned in the Part 5 PoV characters list. The list did however mention two groups: Bridge 4 and the Knights Radiant, so he's pretty much set for Radiancy, like he so desperately wishes.
  19. I'd say Awakening fits Endowment just fine, giving Breaths to an object to breathe life into it
  20. Welcome to the Shard!
  21. Hmm the Ashspren and Highspren have not yet been addressed, only Honorspren and Inkspren, the latter are now even more adamant against Nahel Bond and Surgebinding but former were convinced. The Son of Tanavast, riding the Highstorm, "Stormblessed" thing... I have no idea, he seems to have a Connection with Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow. Okay, third Bondsmith, with the speed that everything's happening in, it might happen in the very next book (which was originally planned to be the Bondsmith book, while Oathbringer was supposed to be the Skybreaker book). I actually like the suggestion of Adolin better than the Mink (sorry OP), he's uniting humans and spren, so. As for the Kaladin red-yellow eyes thing, Odium has Invested and integrated with Roshar, there's plenty of other characters who are interacting with multiple Lights / Investitures: Renarin & Rlain: whose spren were originally closer to Cultivation than Honor, and have now been Corrupted by Sja-Anat with Odium's Investiture. Venli can use Voidlight to fuel Surgebinding. I think whatever happened with Kaladin was a natural effect of this, plus Odium trying to Connect with him.
  22. "No Lightweavers under Valor"? The Shards Intent has to do with how you are initiated into the magic system not what you can do with it.
  23. I love Pattern! Beautifully done!
  24. Oh my, that's a good point with the Death Rattle. The tower and crown are often how the Kholin house glyphs are written... I had honestly stopped looking at the Death Rattles as too cryptic
  25. Wow, you're ooooooooold, lol! Nice to officially meet you. Agree about Dalinar but not about Spook, that bit felt off to me. I don't dislike it though.
