  1. Welcome to the Shard! Look forward to seeing you around
  2. The Catcher of the Win
  3. I don't care what crem I get for this In the Urithiru gem archives, there were no records left by the Edgedancers, because they were too busy helping We know the Order you would belong to, @NattyBo
  4. It's finite But don't panic because This worries me somewhat because of the following observation. Nightblood consumes Breath (and other Investiture, but let's limit ourselves to Breath for a second). Every person on Nalthis is born with one Breath. Populations tend to grow. Which means that under normal rules of demographics, population of Nalthis should keep increasing. This in turn means that under normal circumstances the number of people with Breath on Nalthis should be growing. I can see the following possible explanations to this: Endowment can give Breath to many more people than are currently living on Nalthis. So, the exponential population growth has not yet reached the level at which Endowment's ability to award a Breath to each Nalthis-born human is seriously challenged. When it happens though, things will not go well. There is some built-in mechanism controlling population growth on Nalthis, making certain that the population stays within the limits. Nightblood's consumption of Breath makes these limits smaller, and overall may lead to Endowment's inability to grant Breath to Nalthis-born, but not for a while (essentially, Endowment controls population trends at she sees fit). Thoughts? Brandon Sanderson Just as a point you should understand, the amount of MATTER in the cosmere is finite too. As is the amount of energy. Worrying that Endowment will run out of Breaths to give is a little like worrying that the amount of carbon on Earth will run out because people keep being born. uchoo786 So just for clarification, once Nightblood consumes investiture, that investiture gets recycled? That's what I've always assumed. That it enters the cognitive/spiritual realm? Brandon Sanderson The investiture he consumes is not gone forever--it's not leaving the system, so to speak. 5. I think everyone was a bit surprised by the Elsecaller Ideals ...but also not surprised because they kinda fit
  6. Your Third Ideal aged well (I told ya that one was good!)
  7. At some points I felt like I should ask someone else what they think I'm like
  8. 79% Truthwatcher 65% Willshaper 64% Lightweaver 60% Elsecaller 50% Edgedancer 48% Dustbringer 46% Skybreaker 45% Windrunner 33% Stoneward 27% Bondsmith This is actually about what I expected. Though the Truthwatcher bits were unknown to me, of course but I think I rather like them. I'm not surprised by seeing those two Orders at the bottom though.
  9. Taking the quiz right now Decisive or indecisive? Tells the truth or bends the truth? ... Are these trick questions?
  10. Don't edit them out! Add to them instead
  11. Taldain & Threnody also have gunpowder Scadrial was only late because of the Final Empire Roshar is very aware of Realmatic theories because of spren & Soulcasters as well as historic Radiants
  12. I prefer to think of it as only 5 months ... Okay, nvm, that doesn't help with the long wait at all
  13. seconding Luthadel
  14. Huh, true. In the real world, conflict fuelled invention but their conflicts were rather more cataclysmic (Desolations, Rashek's Ascension). But maybe that is what will end up giving them the push.
  15. Cognitive travel isn't really built into the Metallic Arts as much as it is on Roshar, but Nalthis, Taldain, Sel are still more Realmatically aware...
  16. Grave of the Winners
  17. Hehe, just gotta find the right one. I'll go with Cultivation
  18. Could be and I do still like that theory, but I'll wait till more concrete numbers.
  19. Welcome to the Shard! Anyone other than Hoid? Well, you're leaving the Shards up for grabs then, hehehe
  20. Wow, lots of old names here on the thread! I still remember the Mark of Athena fondly because of Jason & Nico. It felt so warm. Rainbow Rowell was good, other books of similar flavour are Will Walton's Anything Could Happen or TJ Klune's The Lightning Struck Heart, which is seriously funny. I also remember Will Grayson, Will Grayson fondly, the first gay book I'd purchased the hard copy of off the shelf, nerve wracking that was. Ah! Leigh Bardugo! I remembered Ravka. Got Six of Crows 2 years ago (beautiful cover!) but turned out I'd outgrown her, like I had Riordan & Clare. You guys should check out her short stories though like The Too Clever Fox, they are quite atmospheric I didn't really like Max Gladstone all that much. It's like he had a cool idea and I read an entire book gushing over how cool said idea was but there was no story in there. Sufficiently Advanced Magic's character surprised me (series name Arcane Ascension). Give it a read, it will surprise you too. It's LitRPG which is considered a cheap genre on scene nowadays but this author is something else. The main character falls into multiple "other" identities, all of which are done surprisingly well.
