  1. They don't have a thorax or abdomen. At least not by the definition of insect bodies.
  2. So this is inspired by an old thread about torturing people in order to get their breath, and the idea has remained kicking around in my brain. So I decided to find a way to cause the most pain possible. 1. Capture your victim 2. Give them a lot of breath. 3. Give them multiple Hemalurgic spikes that have stolen the ability to feel pain, all of which are misplaced just enough that their powers remain, but they still cause immense pain. 4. Fill gemstones with anti-breath And place them over your victims eyes, after you seal them open. This simultaneously causes them to have their eyesight filled with blinding light, it also causes soul rending pain. 5. Make them a spore eater. 6. Play the anti-tone of the aether spore that they are afflicted with, along with antiRuin. 7. Apply large painrails to them. 8. Make painrails using Agonyspren, and apply those as well. 9. Do the same for fearspren. 10. Build attractor fabrials, attuned to bone flesh and blood, and give a continuous, painful pull outwards in all directions. 11. Have really powerful Mistborn, continually duralumin soothing all emotions but fear, and pain(if they can sooth that) 12. Have other really powerful Mistborn continually duralumin rioting fear and pain. 13. Draw massive Aon Reo, and apply it to them. 14. Give them the Gift of Presence, also misplaced just enough to cause pain while still giving the maximum effect, so that they can remember and relive ever moment of it. 15. Have lightweavers make an increadibly high pitched noise nonstop, preferably mixed with nails on a chalkboard. 16. Have those lightweavers also blast them with thermal radiation, and put powerful heating fabrials around them. 17. Use that power Renarin uses on Moash to show them the best possible version of their life if they weren't being tortured. So they can forever see what they lost, but never get it back. 18. Watch them break. So, can you think of anything that could be added to make this worse?
  3. Drabs are people who only give away a bit of their native Investiture, in a willing and easy transfer, powered by Endowment, a careful surgical removal of you will. People who survive spiking are tortured, and then have a piece of their soul violently ripped away in a process made to destroy. Now I think that giving them back that piece in a spike would help. But any Hemalurgy wounds the soul.
  4. Intelligence and Investiture are pretty interrelated.
  5. Lifesense allows you to do it.
  6. Huh, I had never considered that. Now I don't think it is the case, as I think those predators are detecting their minds, not seeing the Cognitive, but that could be the case.
  7. Use either + or & instead of spaces. For example searching God+Beyond, would get you what you want.
  8. Yeah, Shards are no more gods in my mind than gravity is.
  9. Bleeder didn't even have any particularly impressive burst of speed. She moved quickly inside of a room, and ran down a building and around a corner a few times.
  10. Considering that it takes over fifty years for a rug to become a part of the room it is in, I don't think that would be enough. And the stick wasn't particulalry strong, Shallan is just an idiot.
  11. The Bondsmith Honorblade allows you to generate Stormlight.
  12. 1. It wouldn't be going for you. 2. Most people don't think about what they can't see, so they would have very very small representations in the CR. I doubt that something like a cm of broken plastic would have any notable presence.
  13. Being rare just means that you can demand a higher pay, and that more people want your services. It doesn't prevent you from doing it. That same ad asks for sliders, which we see a whole 2 of in the entire series.
  14. Dor and Stormlight are basically the same thing. Now the Dor is liquid rather than gas, but that's just a matter of density rather than power. I don't think new spren are needed, as they are "corpses" when dead plate, but it's still around.
  15. True. I would argue about that. Centaurs have internal skeletons as well as an unsegmented body. Therefore they cannot be insects.
  16. Aon Tia would allow them to access the Cognitive realm. From there they can attack with impunity. Kal got to around 370 mph when flying ahead of the Highstorm. And that was before he got shardplate which weighs about 1,400 pounds without increasing is surface area that much. Additionally Windrunners can affect air pressure, and basically create vacuum tubes for them to fly down. So mach 5 is totally possible. That is true, but that wasn't what I was addressing. To start with, it expands out from point of contact. That's not how I read it. And besides, Jasnah never mentions having to find the right bead, she just looks at something and wonders how hard it would be to soulcast. When Shallan tries soulcasting she appeared in the CR with the object already. And even if Soulcasting from the Cognitive requires you to find the bead you can just run your hand through them as you can easily identify them by touch. I will read too much into Brandon sneezing. That's not what I was referring to. That's Wax tapping weight and pushing though. So that is the equivalent of much higher caliber weapons.
  17. Spiking someone without killing them leaves them worse off that being a drab
  18. If it was done externally then no, it was not investiture.
  19. Don't worry about it. Alright here's one: Stormlight books are not too long, and in fact are too short. Brandon has said SA 5 will probably be noticeably over 400k and I'm all for it. I'm hoping that SA 10 gets to the 500k word mark at a bare minimum. Edit: You know what, how about another. The Cosmere has gotten to the point now that Brandon needs to say: "The average reader won't get this, too bad for them" and just write a book about a Silverlight Artifabrian combining Shardmetal and fabrials, and noting the effects, every now and again.
  20. Does it? One guy with a super weapon killed Rayse and took his shard. So by that definition 17 guys with 4 superweapons is several magnitudes of Overkill.
  21. That is not at all how that works, otherwise they would explode the instant they launched. Here's the thing, air has mass too. 1. Yes they can, the speed cap of gravity is the speed of light. No they aren't, Windrunners have perfect maneuverability, able to go in any direction on a whim. Jets are limited by the strain their pilot can handle, Windrunners can do things that would incapacitate or kill a pilot and keep going. We know you can use it to burn away rock, to the point that it will remain smoldering long after the Dustbringer leaves. You can just reach for the one that you want and Connection will guide it to you. So they very much could. That's not true. The shockwave of bullets are simply too small to cause damage.
  22. Which is not confirmed and never will be. And as you will note reading it, Dalinar was not able to simply "do" it, he had the Connection given to him, from some source of light. So that leaves two possibilities. 1: The God Beyond made it possible, where Dalinar alone could not do it. 2: It was spiritual memory alone and the Beyond was not involved. Neither of which allows investiture to reach the Beyond. I can, traveling to the past simply is not possible within the Cosmere Meaning that investiture cannot do it, only something Beyond could.
  23. Where? Slowing time, and reversing time, are two different things. Gravity can slow time, but it cannot reverse it.
  24. Stop repeating this outright wrong claim. I have proven it's uselessness as an argument countless times already.
