  1. I couldn't find that one, but I did find this about temperature, and it's . . . a thing.
  2. So I've been thinking about this WoB lately And something has really been bothering me about it. Deposition is an exothermic process, so the area around a shardblade being formed should get really hot, not cold. Therefore I propose that highly invested substances go through the states of matter in reverse order. Starting as a gas and then becoming a liquid and then a solid as they are heated. This is more ambient speculation than my more serious theorizing but I felt like putting it out there.
  3. I don't really care what writers do, that doesn't change the fact that it's weird.
  4. I ment that he wasn't just old enough to be her ancestor, he might be her ancestor. Not enough evidence for a theory, but I don't think Jasnah is the first woman to catch his eye in 10,000 years.
  5. She could be his great great great great(I'm not typing that all out) grandaughter.
  6. The fact that he could be one of Jasnah's ancestors should tell you that it's a big deal. And I'm not just talking about his age either.
  7. Thank you, I spent a lot of time putting it together. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
  8. Yes but where did you get the idea that Odium powered Ashynite magic? Odium hates investing in places, why would he do it in Ashyn? And what told you that the catycalism of Ashyn was when the magic changed?
  9. Advise: Use spreadsheets. At the end of each day mark the overall word count for your novel and your daily word count. As well as having a minimum word limit, I reccomend starting at a minimum of 100 words and increasing it by 1 every day. Soon you will have formed a habit and overall greatly increased your wrighting speed.
  10. I'm going to shamelessly necro this thread, for I have found a sloution. @Nameless you had an interpretation of conjoined gems that not only worked with what we had seen, but didn't allow my perpetual motion machine to work. Little did you know the amount of time I was willing to dedicate to this. So I made a perpetual motion machine using you proposed version of fabrial mechanics. I give you Frustration's Apparatus! First set up two pulleys, the second one must be longer than the first. Now, on Pulley 1, attatch two gems, Gem A which is five times as large as its counterpart gem a. And gem B, which is the same size as gem b. Both are attatched to the same side and are amythist. On Pulley 2 attatch gems a, b, and C. C is where energy leaves the system, and is the only ruby. LIke so: The system works by dropping pulley 1, while only gems A and a are conjoined, which will bring pulley 2 up five times the distance. Fabrial clocks which were premade to calculate time then deconjoin gem A and a, and conjoin gem C for 4/5 of the fall. At which point gem C will be disconjoined and gems B and b will be conjoined. With gems B and b conjoined, the system will be brought back to it's starting point and it can be repeated. Netting you 4/5 of the energy of the fall of pulley 2 every rotation.
  11. I would like to point out that Hoid is closer in age to Roshar than to Jasnah.
  12. That is a fair point, I will give you that. I will concede the possibility of such power being possible. I'll allow that it might be possible, but I find it highly unlikely. Where did you get that from? Or this one?
  13. Sir, I want to impress upon you the magnitude of what you just said did to me. I have lived in a three dimensional world my whole life, you just pulled me up into the fourth dimension. I am forced to see things I cannot possibly hope to understand, I cannot even begin to comprehend the vastness of the change your words have wrote upon me. And I realize I will never see the world the same way again. Take all of my upvotes good sir.
  14. So you think it should have been a scene of Ash reacting, followed by a scene of the Stormfather reacting? How about I say it like this, if Cultivation's arival changed the magic, it would have predated Ishar, so he wouldn't have it. If the catycalism changed the magic why? Whithout knowing WHY, he still knows where he needs to be. That does put a damper on my argument, but as it's the only thing even slightly luck related I'm going to say we don't know enough. Personally I think of Fortune as more of a gut instinct, that you can expand into deeper and deeper knowledge. That is true, but you have to admit that the reason Brandon put it there was as kind of an act of divine intervantion for Kaladin. If that is the case why did Honor, perhaps the shard most attuned to Connection have such bad future sight?
  15. It took me way too long to find this. But we're getting new information about hemalurgy. I'm not sure who else needed this, but I am stoked.
  16. A year later? in RoW Ash mentiones that Jezrien is dead forever and no one questions it. Roshar had magic before Honor came, but his arrival dramatically changed how magic worked. I see no reason Ashyn should not be the same for Cultivation. Why would whatever Ishar did cause the change rather than the arrival of a shard? If Ishar already had access to Bondsmith powers why would he need to reclaim his blade at all? Knowledge isn't luck. Hoid knows where he needs to be, that is a dsitinct knowledge. He is being told "Hey something important will happen here, in the future." Every time Brandon describes Hoid using that ability he says something about knowledge. That is an explanation, I lean more towards the God Beyond there. It lets you know when things are going to happen.
  17. Ashyn's surface is perpetually on fire, but there has never been a mention of an explosion. The only thing we know about magic is that at some point in the past it was different. None of the uses for fortune has even the slightest bit to do with luck, it's always been about the future. Kalak said that during the feast, and he's just as paranoid and set on leaving Roshar six years later. Nale was against the Radiants then and is now. Ash snuck inot Kholinar and broke her statue, just as she is doing now. They are all basically the same as they were, why would Ishar have such a dramatic change from silent obidient manipulator, to loud obnoxious self proclaimed reincarnation of Adonalsium?
  18. Warlight was named because the rhythm it beats to is the Rhythm of War. The inent was communicated by the rhythm itself so I think that War is the purest intent of Honor + Odium.
  19. Because we already saw Ash react therefore another scene showing someone react to Jezrien die is repetitive. The fighting had to be almost entirely over otherwise they wouldn't have had eight of them meet up. What explosion? There was a change to Ashynite magic, at some point, but I find the more likely that the change occured when Cultivation arrived in the Rosharan system. Fortune isn't luck. We know none of the other Heralds changed, why would Ishar be the exception?
