"I," Isek said, driving a spike into the rock, "almost died once. Like, unconscious for weeks, my father was worried I wouldn't make it. I eventually pulled through, but it scared me badly. Especially when I thought about what would happen after. So, with my father's permission, I came here."

Mistborn V.S. 3rd Ideal Lightweaver
Frustration replied to Wits instant noodles's topic in Cosmere Discussion
No? Khriss says that affecting stone is one of the hardest things a soulcaster can do. "She's the best we've seen and is thus the best that there can be" I can count the number of soulcasters shown on screen on one hand. And Jasnah is self-admittedly bad at making organic matter. Not in that scene. Elsecallers are more attuned to the Cognitive realm, but we have no indication that they are better at soulcasting. They managed to get Wandersail through it. My point was that skill is a spectrum, and that Vin, Kelsier, Elend, and Zane were all among the most skilled, and powerful, individuals. Jasnah uses soulcasting differently. She can't teach Lightweavers how to do it. -

If they can hold a conversation with others they clearly do not need to focus. Jasnah isn't the pinical of skill. Jasnah during RoW turned all the air in a large radius into oil, and Kaza made an opening in rock large enough to sail boats through. We did not see their average skill, we saw the best of the best. The Eleventh metal showed a mistborn just get stabbed in the neck, the average is much lower than what we saw in era 1. And given that when Shallan stops repressing her abilities she pretty much instantly gets soulcasting, I'd say average Lightweaver skill is much higher than we have seen. I know. -
At the very least any Scadrian can. I don't think they could burn Honorblades as they lack a Connection to Honor.

Savanthood went through a retcon around 2016, so it could be the case. And why would we know what pewter savants are like by now?
-
They never said if you burned tin too long you would lose your senses either. And Vin didn't burn near enough pewter to Savant.

In that particular insurance. In the Ars Arcanum Khriss says soulcasting stone is one of the most difficult things a soulcaster can do. And no, they both did it practically as soon as they tried. Soulcasting is shown to not be dramatically more stormlight intensive than lashings. And Lightweavers can soulcast at a distance. And so electrum is not enough. Even if they only did it nearby they can soulcast entire buildings, Mistborn cannot cover that distance in the time it takes to soulcast. Why do you keep using this argument? All the Mistborn are dead so going by current sample size Lightweaver wins by default. They just barely figured out they could do it. And what would be the point of trapping human souls? -

Kalak said that Jezrien's soul deteriorated into an ordinary one That's not true. The diagram one and Rushu both simply held their hands up and turned the stone into smoke. Why would the amount of stormlight matter? Once a Lightweaver decides to soulcast the victim is either out of range or dead We've never seen a Lightweaver in combat aside from Shallan. And she intentionally suppressed her soulcasting ability, so she is less of an example than Jasnah. -
18 mph is almost a foot a second. Do you know how hard it is to cut cloth? We have seen division, and given elsecalling, abrasion, and lashings include clothing, I think it's fair to say that Division will as well. You can't cut cloth like that, and I would be surprised if bronze could pick up on spheres.

It's Wok page 430ish. And mining is possible, Lin Davar made his fortune by quarrying rare stone. -

And Rushu? And the soulcasters Adolin saw? And the diagram soulcaster? Electrum would only show them freezing in place, and bronze won't warn them until it's too late. And the range they have is far too much to dodge. Stress also makes turning multiple metals on and off in quick succession difficult, but it seemed the Mistborn in these situations is always able to handle that. Jezrien's soul got stuck in a sapphire. -

1. Quickly, yes we do. Kaza makes a tunnel, and turns large sections on the island into smoke alomst instantly, as does Rushu. 2. At a distance is irrelevant. Even if they can't, capturing both themselves and the mistborn still results in the lightweaver winning. 3. Why would combat change anything? -
Anything overly repetitive, or that doesn't contribute to tje conversation.

Can Shardic intent become self defeating or contradictory?
Frustration replied to Sir Nil's question in Cosmere Q&A
Shards don't seem to apply their intents to themselves. -
Anyone can burn pure atium, I'd imagine it's the same with feruchemy.

Why would soulcasting around people be any more difficult than otherwise? -
They move at 200 mph, even if to was 11× slower they would easily clear the bubble before the mistborn had a chance to do anything. The spheres are sewn inside his clothes, you can't cut those out, the knife, if you somehow made it around the blade would burn up under division, as would the mistborn's hand. Even if somehow the mistborn could consistently touch the skybreaker, which they couldn't, they would lose more and more of their hand each time.

That's like saying that if matter and energy are the same thing then all matter has to be plasma, as the only way it could take on a differnt state of matter is to lose energy.
-
No, the only thing different was the technique used. The scientists talk about trama and Command being helpful, and when we see the process it's just a spike. They owned and operated their own business, I would hardly call them lower class. And we might not have exact numbers we know that in pre-industrial societies that food was roughly 80% of a families spending.

They just used a spike, the device just measured the Investiture. Jewles made enough money off her breath to feed herself, her parents, and her five siblings for a year. And since one breath is basically useless, an allomantic ability would be worth several times what one breath is worth.

You can capture souls in gemstones too. -
What? Investiture, energy and matter are completely interchangeable, See also TLM page 116.

Where? Actually the medallions don't seem to need filled, the power is innate to them. And slaves are cheaper, especially when as shown by breath the amount of money these powers are worth is in the tens of millions of dollars.
