  1. Did you mean do not? Welcome!
  2. Please please please please please no. I finished geometry last year, and I cannot go back for the sake of my sanity. (or what's left of it after looking at the Nomic thread. My goodness, that place is insane.)
  3. I always want to hear rants. It's great... for me.
  4. I tried to look at when the first shardcast was, but I when I tried to click next, the page buttons, or the last page button they just scrolled me up to the top without changing anything. I tried reloading and stuff, but it still doesn't work. Am I the only one with this problem?
  5. Somebody bred an apple and a pinecone and called it a pineapple, because is it eatable like an apple and cony like a cone. Is cony even a word? Or eatable- yes i know edible is the right word, just eatable is more fun. also, it isn't getting spellchecked. Though pinecone is...
  6. Somebody asked me why I was reading the dictionary once
  7. I mean, Star wars didn't do this. They just went with it I can't wait for Starsight
  8. Yeah, exactly (I'm 16)! Also- I don't just hate all my teachers... I might have accidentally given that impression. I have some really good teachers, usually english or science, but most of my teachers are more in the middle.
  9. Heres a hug You will do great! I dont blame you. AP tests suck.
  10. I was talking with a friend who writes his own stories (they are actually pretty good) and he was talking about FTL(faster than light) travel. We were not talking about speed bubbles and stuff because he has resisted my multiple attempts to convert him to Sanderson books and instead we were talking about FTL like star wars, where they just turn on boosters and zoom. Anyways, I was in an archery class ( I suck) and we were talking about how even being 1 degree off at 20 feet ends up being about a foot off target ( i don't remember exact numbers). This got me thinking about light speed accuracy. So, for FTL travel, they are going millions of miles a second. They have no time to redirect their course. Say they travel for 1 second at light speed. That is 186000 miles. In one second. They would not be able to correct their course. Now say they are one degree off- a generous amount for something like a super huge giant spaceship that is manually controlled. Uh... cosine, sine, hypotenuse, geometry and stuff, gives us 2932.116 miles apart for 1 degree of accuracy. For reference, our planet is 7,917.5 miles wide. For 1 degree, they would have almost gone around the other side of our planet. This is at light speed, not even faster than that. At faster, it would be more inaccurate. Also, not just side to side, but left and right/up and down. Going for 1/100 of a second longer would be 1680 miles extra. They would collide with the planet. Kaboom! Planet is gone. Who needs a death star, just build a few suicide bombers. Well, that was fun. Basically, don't build light speed unless computers control it.
  11. I do actually! Elend at one point is controlling 37000 total As far I was able to find, that is the only exact number...
  12. All right. I guess there really isn't a way to find exact numbers of their maximum controlling limit, just guesses. Well, thanks anyway! I was going to try and figure out how much allomantic power was lost each generation, but that is difficult without solid numbers or tests. Seeing as how the cosmere doesn't include us, we can't really figure that out.
  13. I was wrong I didn't even think of that (obviously, or I would have changed the post.)
  14. Maybe Im assuming to much... Is that not Szeth? Oh. I missed the last handful of posts.
  15. Probably why she's cranky all the time. And I can relate the bad teachers. Yesterday, my Spanish teacher told us all to do our homework, and then she put it up onto google classroom at 8 in the morning. She did let us turn it in tomorrow, but there has been multiple times where she just got mad at us and told us we can't rely on teachers, we need to be independent and grow up. She treats my class like kindergartners, but gets mad at us for things SHE forgot to do. It's always our fault! I think some teachers just don't want to accept that once in a while, the teenagers know what they are doing. (At least, my class is teenagers. I don't know if you are.) Well, anyway. I sympathize.
  16. I reread Era 1, and Elend's allomantic strength started me wondering. Allomantic strength decreases between generations. We know this to be true, from Elend and Vin. Over a thousand years of allomancers resulted in the loss of strength from the original allomancers who took the lerasium, and Vin. We see that when Elend becomes a mistborn, his power is much stronger than Vin's. I began to wonder, how did the strength change from Era 1 to Era 2? Since each generation of allomancer loses a bit of power, we need to know how many generations there were between the Lord Ruler’s buddies and Vin. This is made difficult because we don’t know how many children noblemen had, and noblemen were the ones most likely to pass on allomantic traits because their bloodlines are the most pure. Vin is, as far as we know, descended straight from noblemen. This means that we need the generation numbers for noblemen. We know that they are less fertile than regular humans, having been changed by the Lord Ruler to have less children. Humans on Earth, on average, have their first child at 34 years for men and 29 years for women. Assuming an equal amount of the 2, we can find the average at 31.5 years between generations for humans on Earth. As far as I know, there is pretty much no way to find the difference between Earth humans and Scadrian noblemen. The most we know is that they are less fertile. For the sake of the theory, I will just use 35 years as the average time between generations. Using 35 years, we can find the approximate amount of generations between the Lord Ruler and Vin. This is 1000/35, ending up at about 28.5. Because Vin is not 1 year old, I will round down to 28 generations between Lord Ruler and Vin. Now for Wax. He only has 341 years between him and the originators (Thanks Elegy). Since Sazed repaired human bodies, they will have normal generation times- 31.5 years. 341/31.5 is about 11 generations, which I will say is 10 because Wax also is not 1 year old. So Wax has 10 generations before him and Vin has 28 generations before her. Because of this, Wax should be about 18 generations stronger than Vin. There really isn't much of a way to determine exactly how much power is lost between the two, but considering how much power was lost between Elend and Vin, the difference should be significant. I don't really see this in the book- it seems that Wax is only able to lift himself as high as Vin (The wall with the bar in TFE and the bridge with the gun in Era 2) Am I wrong?
  17. Does anybody know how many Koloss Vin can control and how many Koloss Elend can control?
  18. Wait. You mean there is more than just the 17th shard! My entire Perception of the world is Shattered. (You know what, don't judge me. My cosmere puns still suck. and yes, I know perception isn't a shard. But if it does become one, then I called it. ) Good job! It is definitely worth it, if you didn't figure that out already. You are on this site, so you probably did, but I hate to make assumptions. (Not really. I do it all the time.)
  19. Ok. This explains a lot. I guess I just thought I read somewhere that she was stronger because of mists when she was younger or something? I don't know. But thanks for the answers! And yes, I have finished era 1, along with the published part of era 2. I can't wait for the Lost Metal to come out! But that might be while...
