Leona ran out the door with her backpack, yelled a farewell to nobody in particular, and jumped into the car.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Bookish Ocelot replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you get someone to check out Mistborn from the library and anxiously wait for them to start it so you can send all your memes to them. -
Leona woke up to her phone's alarm at 6:15. She was absolutely exhausted after the events of the previous weekend, but it was time for another day of higher learning. She got dressed and almost fell asleep walking down the stairs. "Coffee?" she groggily questioned in the kitchen. @whoever is in the kitchen

He is indeed. Welcome to the 'Shard. Don't accept any cookies, but cake is fine. Especially Leona's cake.

"Yeah," Leona replied. "I'm not really sure what to do here. Only that we have it contained. Ish."

YKYASFW... you apologize for wrong number texts by saying that you had your earrings in when you sent them you hear 'spiked' (insert food) and wonder why someone would want to give food superpowers, before realizing that's not what they meant someone asks you for book reccomendations and you wordlessly hand them a list of branderbooks you draw aons in your notebooks when you're bored you have alethi glyphs doodled on everything you own -
"Awesome!" Leona replied, smiling. "I'm glad you like it. I will admit that half the secret is in convincing the cake to be cake in the first place."

Leona passed the ziploc of cake to Cassie. "I'm glad you like it. I'd be happy to teach you to bake sometime."

"Yeah! I spent several hours working on it. I've got samples if you wanna preview," Leona replied, holding up a bag of suspicious-looking cake she had removed from her apron. "I've also got frosting, fondant, gum paste, 50/50, and rice cake!" She realized how excited she was getting, and tried to tone it down. "Anyways," she said, doing a dramatic bow, "the cake." The cake had to be at least three feet tall, and was on a wheeled cart. The icing was forest green with brushed gold accents and white flowers. She thought the flowers were probably a bit much, but would it be a wedding without flowers? No. Also, they tasted good. And were fun to make. But even better to eat.

YKYASFW you hear someone say 'Kal' in the hallways and spin around trying to find the fellow sanderfan, then realize they said 'calc' instead. -

"I guess," Leona said. "I can't imagine what it would be like to have my wedding ruined like that." bold of you to assume someone will marry you, Onyx interjected. "Now's not the time for sarcasm!" she hissed back at Onyx. Turning to Cassie, she asked "Did you see them in the fighting at all? Do you know if they're like, okay?"

“That’s probably a logical conclusion.” Leona said, facepalming internally. “Do you know where they are?”

First, let me say that I absolutely adore your username. It made me laugh. I think it's more that he views them as a part of himself. Here's the best WoB I found. He sees himself as a slave - lower than everyone else - a servant for everyone. I almost think these tendencies (self-sacrifice/serving) are part of what made him a windrunner. According to a different WoB, he still has his brands because he thinks he deserves them.

"Yeah." She smiled sadly at Cassie's expression. "Well, have you done your homework yet? A teenager's work is never done."

"I could soulcast fondant and then soulcast that into steel. Easier if it's cake-related." Leona looked at Onyx, who made something that could possibly be classified as a nod of affirmation. "Here goes. When she opened her eyes, there was a large lump of white fondant in her hands. She molded it into a set of ropes, then wrapped them around the voidbringer's hands and feet. "And now, the hard part." Closing her eyes again, she envisioned the cognative realm, filled with beads. She plucked one from the endless shining span - the fondant. "You want to be solidified. To be firm." I wish to keep my options open "You want to settle. To be strong, un bendable." that is not right. I am flexible, fluid. The argument continued, Leona's will pushing against that of the fondant. A few minutes later, she opened her eyes. The voidbringer's limbs were wrapped in glittering steel. "I know you said rope, but steel is stronger. I can soulcast it back later."

"I could, like, soulcast blocks around his hands? Or some kind of rope, but I think it'd be a stretch if it was anything but cake." Leona replied. "We can take him back to the physical realm with us and decide what to do there?" She sighed. "I'm getting so tired of this. I think it's over, but then we get kidnapped, or ambushed. I just want to be a normal teenager. Except the cake thing. I wanna keep the cake."

Santa is a fullborn hemalurgist that steals abilities from anyone who is born with them, which is why we don't have mistborn. His reindeer are actually kandra. -
Stormlight - Chemistry, Physics, or Simply Magic?
Bookish Ocelot replied to Dawnbearer's topic in Stormlight Archive
It's possible the human body porousness is just an analogy/explanation given because it is not fully understood. (We here on earth were convinced a giant beetle pulled the sun across the sky for a while...) If it's a molecule, how do you explain stormlight not reacting with anything? It also would likely be heavier than air in that case, so how does it float? A lot of elements are used in the human body - Hydrogen, Oxygen, Carbon, Nitrogen, Sodium, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Boron, etc. (Group 8B (the one I referred to) and group 18 are the same thing) Electromagnetic spectrum probably doesn't work, but it would be a convenient way to explain the glowing and energy. Electron orbits also go in waves. Another unreasonable but maybe not idea: Instead of fission (LAAAME) what about fusion? It glows. It makes energy. It is also very hot but I will ignore that. We haven't seen helium yet in the books and it's not unreasonable to think that helium or neon have been replaced. Everybody buckle up, because this is where it gets weird. Neon and helium (and all noble gases) glow in the presence of heat and pressure as they become ionized. This is how electric signs work. If you heat metals in a flame, they change colour. That is the same principal. If you take my magical nonexistant fusion, things get hot. Then, the stormlight is burned (literally), ionizing it and making that sweet glow. You also get a bunch of heat left over, but I'm assuming radiant bodies/gemstones have some way to compensate for it. Some gems like topaz and sapphire have high(er) specific heat. I realize that the previous paragraph ignores a lot of science, but we're talking about flying people here.- 53 replies
