  1. Nor is it particularly strong physically it is also hard to soulcast and once done should could not harm Kaladin at all because the aluminum would shield him from both her surges.
  2. Good example but I must disagree. We have never seen Jasnah use her other surge to do anything other then move between realms and that is not useful for troop movement unless you are crossing water and know about a perpendicularity on the other side.
  3. Soulcasting Kaladin would be virtually impossible as he is both invested and incredibly stubborn. If you try to put Kaladin in a box he can probably use Syl's nature scene to locate her and then make a spear throw assuming he has not killed her while she was trying to soulcast which without Dalinar pulling the realms together is difficult.
  4. To make things simpler lets say various military objectives given certain resources.
  5. What if the ancient lightweaver trapped Re-Shepir inside the sibling the way timber tramped the voidspren inside Venli's gemheart? That could have been what injured the sibling and eventualy aloud her to escape!
  6. Their abilities, in a straight fight it is hard to argue against Kaladin winning just by superior combat training and that is not a fair comparison.
  7. https://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/83874-jasnah-v-kaladin/ Want to delete are posts here and put them their?
  8. In this thread we will be comparing two of everyone's favorite radients including their power levels strategies and skillets. Unless Brandon is nice enough to give us a fair avengers style fight between the two parties I belive that their is no way we will ever come to consensus as to who would win. (Fingers crossed that this happens by the way it would be amazing.) Even if we do get a fight we could argue endlessly about various factors that make said fight fair or unfair so it might not be conclusive. I would love it if we somehow fond some kind of evidence that would settle the debate for us but that is never going to happen so it is fine to agree to disagree. This is a page of speculation not absolute truth as long as we are careful in our research and respectful of each other I think that we will benefit from this discussion.
  9. More then that it means a passionate longstanding uncompromising disgust and abhorrence. This is perfect for destroying another shard. Also from what we have seen the shards he has splintered mostly did not have abilities that would be helpful in a fight with the exception of Ambition. Honor is the power of binding and correct action, Dominion wants mastery not destruction, and Devotion can't exactly love Odium to death. This leaves Ambition whose will to live and successes would make a difficult opponent. This leads me to believe that Odium had some kind of edge going into that fight meaning he probably planed that encounter vary carefully.
  10. When you are actually considering making a page here so that fans can outline An Accountability of Virtue.
  11. From Oathbringer start with "what could break rock like that?" Dalinar is looking at the aftermath of a radiant battle in this vision and we see that part of the battlefield is smushed. I realty thing that if we want to keep going we should change threads. How many normal shardbears is Jasnah going to fight? Its not like their are many. I am pretty sure that fused can heal. Also I am not sure that chemical knowledge on Roshar is that great. 40 lashings on a small rock does not actually seem like that much assuming the rock is pretty small we have seen Kaladin move flying boulders at the battle of Kolinar outputting a similar amount of force on a much smaller rock could be devastating.
  12. Of course she is is cynical! She just found decisive proof that her society incorporated beings who (she belives) want to kill them and has been breeding them in large numbers for profit!
  13. If it is not in the gemstone that what is causing the increased pressure in Urithiru?
  14. In all seriousness why not a general command "heal people?" Think of the benefits to society (and possibly the destruction of an entire religion and government). A couch "Make comfortable" A doll "be nice/freindly" A desk "govern wisely"
  15. Even in normal English the word drought can mean lack of things other then water. noun a period of dry weather, especially a long one that is injurious to crops. an extended shortage: a drought of good writing.
  16. I suppose that is mostly correct although Kaladin has a lot of options against a plate wielder (40 lashings on a rock can pack a lot of punch) also in Dalinar's visions we see gravity increased over a large area crushing troops under the weight of several gravitates. I would also like to point out that Jasnah did those things when the realms were closer together and had access to a boatload of power. I also think that we could go on forever proving to each other why abilities are so powerful but that would clutter this thread so I think it is a good idea for us to stop now. We are of course both entitled to our opinions.
  17. I would not say that she is a horrible human being she is just Taravangianish. She likes logical, practical, final solutions to her problems but her intentions are always good. As for killing the entire race her goals are actually to avoid having to do that which is why she suggests killing a herald. I would like to see her admitting some incompetence and being forced to rely on Kaladin or Dalinar for advice on leadership and I think she will make mistakes but Jasnah does admit her flaws and is trying to do the right thing.
  18. I am believe that the blade is transferring from the cognitive to the physical realm. In the cognitive realm the blade is a person that hovers or swims around you. When you summon it it moves into your hand for the transfer. Shardplate is invested (we think it is made of many smaller spren) so the blade cannot be in the same place as the plate in the cognitive realm so no it will not appear inside the plate it will just bounce off at an odd angle. Tyn is not a spren and people are not particularly substantial on the cognitive side so Pattern had no problem appearing inside her but shardplate is different.
  19. I am not denying that they are powerful all radiants are powerful in one way or another I am just saying that some are power powerful then Jasnah in a combat setting.
  20. Sorry no page number but Chapter 12 "The King’s Wit was not a silly court fool such as one might find in other kingdoms. He was a sword, a tool maintained by the king. Insulting others was beneath the dignity of the king, so just as one used gloves when forced to handle something vile, the king retained a Wit so he didn’t have to debase himself to the level of rudeness or offensiveness."
  21. I think that it is more likely that Hemalurgy would linger for a time until the pieces of the planet forgot what it was like to be part of a planet and instead thought of themselves as pieces. Once that happens the magic system which was dependent on the spiritual aspect of the planet would either collapses entirely or change substantially depending on how ruin desired to destroy it.
  22. Sure but those soldiers were blood crazed maniacs who were especially week to her and she was powered up by Dalinar making soulcasting easier and we have no idea what transportation actually looks like. I have a categorization system for all powers that goes something like this. Obviously their are examples where having lower level powers are more useful but I have found that this is generally a good guide. class 1 stupid class 2 projection (the ability to output something usually energy but sillier things like shrink rays work two) in cosmere stealpushes would be like this class 3 physical enhancements (the ability to do things with your body that are unusual healing factor super strength durability speed telaportation) in cosmere basically what you get from using stormlight and Feruchemy class 4 control over other things (the ability to make something or someone else do something it should not normally like with telekinesis or mind control) in cosmere the surges of gravitation and adhesion are a good examples class 5 remaking worlds (the ability to substantially alter the rules globally mass mind control subverting physical laws entirely making major changes to ecology) the only examples of this in cosmere that I can think of are the Elantrins building their massive Eon and bondsmiths uses their abilities to destroy the parshendi. This is a pretty good example of why the bondsmiths are the most powerful. Sure Jasnah can kill large numbers of people if she has enough stormlight but she has limits. Her abilities are only class 3 and 4 and the class 4 abilities are pretty limited in battle Kaladin can probably kill more people more quickly then she can because his abilities allow him a wide range of motion the ability to kill people quickly hers require more stormlight and are much harder to use. Dalinar is more powerful then either of them because of his ability to change the fundamental way that everything on Roshar works.
  23. Maybe sandermasters aren't actually creating water maybe they are just somehow pulling water out of the sand?
