  1. Lita smirked. "I'm going to enjoy this, I think." She turned to Laurelai. "Do you have any makeup I could borrow? I'm nearly sure that I look as exhausted as I feel, and if that's the case I look like Ruin itself." A quick glance at the invitation quickened her pulse. "And we should probably get this done sooner rather than later, because I'm pretty sure the event is starting soon..." She looked up at the shifting grey sky briefly, then shrugged. "Soonish." @Voidus
  2. "I can help!" Lita said to Laurelai, voice betraying her excitement, despite her attempts to play it cool. She looked over at Okame. Well, there's no way he can blend in with anyone, she thought. All Rosharans were rather large but Okame was immense. Still, whether or not he was a fighter, people would think twice about bothering them. "You'll get quite a lesson today, there's bound to be all sorts of interesting 'fabrials' about. I remember my first days in the Alleyverse - I thought I'd walked into a miracle with all the indoor toilets..." @Godhunter
  3. Lita looked at Laurelai. Don't do it, she told herself. You don't have time. But maybe she had a little time? "Really?" She tried not to look too excited. Spy, you're a spy. She clenched her fists to keep from clapping her hands like a little child. Then she looked over to Okame, who was staring blankly at the little computer chip. "It's like a fabrial," she said, trying to remember the little Rosharan vocabulary she knew. "A very small, complicated fabrial."
  4. Lita ducked back into the rooms behind the pale blue door, emerging approximately eight minutes later looking slightly less like she had just woken up, and slightly more like she was going to a party. She'd managed to find a dress in one of the drawers in the little bedroom, and it was even green, which made up for the rather boring neckline. She decided to leave her hair down, and kept the Alleycant medallion tied onto her arm, bringing the little spanreed pen with her. The Stranger's coin was a comforting weight in the pocket of the dress. "Right," she said, addressing Okame and the three others. "I see you've got everything?" She put out a hand for the items.
  5. Lita considered Maq's words, chewing her lip for a moment. Was it worth it? Likely not. "Another time," she said. Then, she turned to Okame. "Give me a moment, five minutes...er... eight minutes. Make sure you get the address for that invite, I just learned how to Alleytravel yesterday-ish. That's how we'll be getting there." @Godhunter
  6. Lita felt her eyes widen. "A party?" She hadn't been to a party in forever. But what would she wear? Oh rusts, her hair was a mess - she didn't even have any makeup on. Still, she probably didn't have much time for primping. Lita could feel a pout coming on, but restrained herself. She was a spy, not a socialite. "I'm in, definitely," Lita said, grinning. "Live updates should be no trouble. Hey, is there some kind of wardrobe Alley full of all the old clothes of the, um, volunteers we gather? I hate to ask but, well, I didn't exactly bring my party clothes with me from the tavern." It was a long shot, but then, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
  7. Renata watched Hellbent follow the crippled woman up the stairs, a small frown creasing between her brows. Fool woman, sneaking around. Still, no one deserved to have that Shardbearer following them around. She stepped to the side a bit so she could keep an eye on them both. Also, it didn't hurt to have a clear line of sight back up those stairs.
  8. Good question, Aldred thought, running a hand through his hair. It needed a good cut. "The mage took a piece of the soul of a waterskin and put it into the cellar," he told Chadwick. "The part that makes a waterskin hold water. Now, that part lives in Liezl's cellar. It will keep water out. The circles made the spell work." Very elegant, Sayer. Aldred felt a bit of heat rise into his cheeks. He wasn't used to not having all the answers.
  9. Ooh also good. They’ll be in the ideal place to catch everyone else as they file back in.

    Renata Outfit Design

    From the album: RP Doodles

A bit potato-quality, but I wanted to nail down her outfit in my own head more than anything. Modified from what I always imagined as an Alethi scout's uniform, since she worked as a courier and runner.
  11. @Godhunter where is Janim currently hanging out? I have this vision of them just sort of lurking moodily on the roof Mistborn-style, and Aldred going out back and yelling at them to get down and have a drink and some food like a normal person. The rest of the gang is getting back from the census so I'm thinking that soon, Liezl will be wondering where Fritz is, and it'll come to light that he might be among "the missing" that Amara and Jurgen are hearing about.

Amazing. I never knew how much I wanted this until just now. Bravo.
  13. Renata flinched away reflexively at the touch, shooting an anxious glance over her shoulder at Arun. Calm down, she told herself. She nodded, taking a deep breath. "I'm fine," she lied, setting what was left of her glass of wine down on a nearby spindly table. "Bit of a headache. Too much wine, I think." Renata gave what she hoped was a relaxed smile and shrugged.
  14. Liezl blew out a silent breath, eyes wide with wonder. "Well," she said, a little awestruck, "it seems that you've just earned your wagon a spot in my stables. A deal was a deal, after all. Whenever you wish to bring it round, just tell me and I'll have someone unhitch the gate." @MacThorstenson ------- Aldred noticed the wolf - one of the wolves, the one that seemed to be well-and-truly a wolf - padding down the stairs. He thought his name was Chadwell. No, Chadwick, that was it. "We were just watching Liezl's cellar get waterproofed," he answered. He moved toward the staircase, motioning to Chadwick and Lilia to follow him. A slight tap on Liezl's shoulder caught her attention - she seemed a little dazed. Aldred understood. "Let's get back to the taproom, I've got a feeling the others will be back soon." @Turtle373 @kenod
  15. You had my attention at "character development" but I have to admit what really sold it was the "death."
  16. Lita watched Laurelai twirl and click the pen, this time recognizing some of the movements from her own study of the Alleycant medallion. She wondered where this would lead - a Knight Radiant was a powerful ally to have in one's corner, but she had to admit, this wasn't exactly where she expected one of them to end up. "And these Oaths of yours," she said, "they won't...conflict with some of our methods?" She didn't have much experience interacting with Radiants, but the few she'd met had seemed a bit too good to fit in with a guild like this. Still, she'd never met a Skybreaker. Maybe they were different? Okome certainly didn't blush at the idea of carrying around two random dead people. @Godhunter
  17. Rusts, now I've irritated her, Lita thought, watching the blonde circle around Okame. Lita wasn't about to admit it, but Laurelai was a bit frightening, in a quiet sort of way. This Okame fellow didn't seem frightened though. When he mentioned he wanted to "join up," Lita raised an eyebrow of her own. Bold move. But then again, he didn't seem the type to trade coy words in a shadowed tavern like herself. She moved behind Laurelai, frustrated that she couldn't be more useful. What could she do, twirl a pen at him? She was a spy, not an assassin. Well, not a trained assassin anyway. "You're a Radiant, aren't you?" she said, mind finally working through his comment about "Stormlight."
  18. Tiny mouth? Lita raised an eyebrow at the man, Okame, then shrugged again. "Alright Okame. Well, I'll admit I have almost no idea what's going on around here, but I'd probably get in a whole mess of trouble if I just let you wander around." On the other hand, maybe the Denizens down here would enjoy finding him. Lita looked at the man again. Ah hell. She took out the Stranger's coin and started flipping it distractedly. "Would you like a cup of coffee while we figure out what to do with those corpses? I'm sure I couldn't do much to stop you from wandering around, but you're likely to find... odder company."
  19. Lita stared flatly at the man, then took a sip of coffee. "Right, well, Okameahe..hela..." She took another sip, then breathed out a sharp sigh. "I do hate to be so informal after just meeting you but I think I'm going to need that shortened."
  20. Seems about right, with the way the rest of today has been going. Lita shrugged. "Well, this is indeed the DA. Frankly I'm amazed that you didn't walk into a rip in time on the way here or stare into the Void or something equally horrifying..." She pulled her hair over her shoulder, dimly aware that she had left it unbraided all this time. "I don't suppose there was a specific addressee on that note? I'm sure there's some kind of corpse reclamation office around here but it's quite literally my first day. Or, maybe it's my second day..." She trailed off, then ducked back into the room. "Laurelai? There's a giant man out here with one and a half bodies stuck to the wall. Apparently he was supposed to bring them here?" She rubbed her temples, then walked back into the Alley and addressed the giant. "I'm Lita. And you are...?" @Voidus
  21. Lita suddenly heard something slam against the wall in the Alley outside. She raised an eyebrow at Laurelai, then went to investigate. She stuck her head out the door cautiously, mug of coffee still cupped in one hand. A very tall, very large man stood a little ways down the Alley, accompanied by two - no, one and a half corpses, which were somehow stuck to the Alley wall. Great, now she was completely put-off her coffee. "Oh Survivor," she said, doing her best not to gag. "What in all the hells is this?" @Invocation
