Good early morning! It's day 16, prompt: Rocket. I've drawn Sierra Satrebil and her iconic rocket powered skates. This is... the hardest drawing I have ever done. And it turned out remarkably well. It's an extremely dynamic pose and I'm just... really happy with it. Yeah, her skate is a little big, but I struggle with feet and, honestly, it doesn't even matter, because them hands are GREAT. I used references for them and that was a lot of help. I mean, just look at them, like holy storms, it's incredible! I don't have a quote for this one: I know of one that works, but there's just too much context for it and it wouldn't add to the drawing at all for those who wouldn't get that context, which is most of you. So instead, I've included some progress pictures. I always think the first stage (after the gesture) is the coolest, the one that's basically just anatomy. (usually at least - in this one, I added the clothes on before I took the picture) Anatomy has become my favorite part of the drawing process in the last few months and I've gotten miles better at it than I was before. -

Oh BTW. Ralvon having his hand that low wasn't intentional, but it makes sense to me that he'd do that. I really want to go off about his role in the planet's military endeavors, but again, spoilers. Let's just say he was forced into a high position against his will because of something he was born with and wasn't even aware of. Also, just for reference @Condensation and @Somebody from Sel; telling someone how to fix their art is kinda... rude. No matter how nice you're trying to be. Like, if you genuinely want to help them with art, then that's fine - and even in that situation, you should ask before saying anything - but just... be careful, okay? A lot of artists are extremely insecure and I'm not one of those people, but I will say that I was feeling extremely low when I drew this. I know it's not the best, I said it wasn't the best. You don't need to extrapolate on why. *breathes in* Okay, sorry, rant over. -

Today's prompt is Outpost and I'll be honest this one was kind of a let down for me. For the first time in this challenge this year, the pencil actually looked better than the inked version so... Sorry? There is still a lot to love about this though. Mostly Ralvon's face. I guess for those of you following Eternal this is very mild spoilers? Eh, whatever; little things like this will probably make you more excited for it! Speculation, yay! Sorry we haven't gotten chapter one up yet. Hopefully the prologue and chapter two (and this art) are enough to keep you excited for what's to come. Anyway, context. This works for outpost, 'cause... it's a military thing and... yeah, that's the tenuous reason it works. Ralvon was drafted into the military at age 14 for very spoilery reasons. I like his expression a lot, he looks very... done with everything. Like, "I don't want to be here. But I am. Whatever." This is also the only time Ralvon has short hair so... that was very, very interesting to draw. Hello, Ralvon's ears. It's nice to meet you. And the gesture. So cute. -

Day 14: Armor. This... this is amazing. I finished this at around 11:00 last night 'cause I was really distracted all day after school, but man, was it worth it. I put a ton of care into the shading of the gold on her armor and the red cape and it just. Looks. Gorgeous. I'm so glad I decided to make her hair and eyes black and white too, it just... This is the best. This is the best one I have done so far. I'm not even going to give y'all the gesture, that would detract from how plain awesome this turned out. I was going to have a quote with this one, but none of the quotes from the story really worked, so I suppose I should just give some context for the people who care. The story that goes along with this is called "A Happy Ending" and it's a possible ending to the CBST RP where Star has aged quite a bit and decides it's time for her to pass on. She puts on her armor for the last time and says her goodbyes before fading away in a very force-ghost-like manor. It's really sweet and I'm glad I got to draw her like this in all her venerable regality. Also, just have to say. This is no longer true of my art. -

Star closed the door behind her and closed her eyes, taking a nice long deep breath. It’s okay, she told herself. Heather is safe. You’re on good terms with Pheonix. Just… breathe. “It’s okay,” she said aloud, opening her eyes. “I just… need a little time for myself.” A small tea table with a lace tablecloth appeared, along with a comfy lavender colored chair. The table was set with a good sized tea pot filled with steaming chamomile tea, a cup and saucer, a sugar bowl, a small pitcher of cream, and two spoons; one for the sugar and one to stir the tea. Her Narration finished, Star sat down in the chair she’d created, letting herself relax. “That’s better.” She poured herself a cup of the sweet-smelling drink, appreciating the quiet stillness. There was no need to worry. No need for life’s anxieties to pull at her attention. There was only her and the warm taste of her tea. Moments passed slowly and for the first time in a very, very, very long while, Star found herself feeling at peace. It felt good. Probably more good than she deserved, but for once, she was able to push away those feelings of unworthiness. See, Star? she thought. You don’t need any romance to feel like this. You already have love, love for Heather, for Xino, for Jay, for Ember, and for Pheonix too. Life is good. The aging Narrator stretched her arms overhead, yawning. And, from the corner of her eye, she noticed something. Two boxes sat on the dresser with a folded note on top that read Star. She raised an eyebrow. Had that been there when she’d walked in the room? Feeling quite curious, she stood up and walked to the dresser, opening up the card. Written in dark purple ink, the calligraphic lettering read, Happy (now quite belated) 400 page birthday, my dear. Congratulations. Wishing you the very best, The Violet Goddess One of the boxes was small and silver, tied with a prim, white bow. The second was significantly larger and was made of metal. She opened the small box first, carefully untying the bow and lifting the lid. Inside was a shimmering silver necklace with a small six-pointed star pendant attached to it. Star smiled, blushing. It was beautiful. With delicate fingers, she pulled it from its casing and clipped it around her neck, admiring it. Honestly, she hadn’t even known that her 400th birthday had happened. What a pleasant surprise. Next, Star picked up the metal box. It was also silver and was about the size of a large shoe box. Smiling to herself, she snapped the lid off. Inside were a pair of matching white porcelain mugs decorated with silver and gold markings, several little packets of different colors, and two silver spoons. There was also a small piece of white card-stock with words written in neat handwriting. Hot cocoa warms the Soul, it read. Share a cup with Pheo some time. Below was listed all the different flavors of cocoa mix, labeled by color. That included but was not limited to: Regular, White Chocolate (my favorite!), Peppermint, Raspberry, Caramel, Cinnamon, Hazelnut, and Butterscotch. At the very bottom was a hastily drawn smiley face and TVG’s signature. Star looked over the gifts with deep gratitude. A gorgeous necklace and treat to share, all for an event she hadn’t even known about. She glanced upward, silently sending a thank you to her gracious Author. Just as she began to turn away, a small glimmer caught her eye. She cocked her head and looked closer at the package, finding that there was indeed something shiny in the bottom of it that she had previously missed. She lifted up the piece of card-stock to reveal a silver circlet made of metallic vines, small diamonds and pearls dispersed among the shimmering leaves. It was similar to the tiara from Star’s vision that she had soon after the universes had split in two. With reverently hesitant fingers, she took the circlet, mouth open slightly in shock. Star placed the circlet on her head. It seemed to click into place, humming with right-ness and power for a few seconds. A smile touched her lips. It seemed that TVG thought she deserved this now. And that was worth everything. ----------- Star felt Pheonix's presence coming up soon and forced herself to breathe even and deep. "You can go ahead and knock, Ember," she said. She let Heather walk in front and stood with her hands clasped in front of her, watching a bit nervously as Ember rapped on the door with her shell plated knuckles. @xinoehp512 @BringerofShadows -

Kay, so I've tried something... very different for this drawing, which you can undoubtedly see already. The prompt for this one is Dune and it was the hardest for me to come up with something for. I finally decided that "dune" could be interpreted as a hill and I honestly don't know where I got the sunset idea from or why I associated that with Rose. I mean, I guess the quote has Rose and a sunset, so that must have been somewhere in the back of my mind. But yeah. This was the drawing idea that inspired me to try and color stuff this year. The sunset is really the main event in this one and boy did it turn out. I suppose it's kinda sad that Rose isn't all that detailed, especially 'cause this is the only drawing she's in, but at least she has a drawing at all; she didn't last year. Anyway, here's the quote and the art. There's nothing special about the gesture I did with this one, so I decided not to include it. Enjoy and happy Tuesday! Also. Meme. -

Hi everybody, Star here. It's recently become something of a trend here to make google forms for a sort of "How Me Are You?" test. Basically you answer the questions and then the person who made it responds back with a percentage of how them you are. I've really enjoyed this, it was a PM but we decided to make it a thread so everyone can participate. I've linked all the tests I've got, so enjoy! Man, this one turned out well. Day 12: Slippery. Tom is a pretty slippery person, I think you'll agree. The main thing I was experimenting with in this drawing was using red to shade things instead of grey. That worked. So well. Some of it could definitely better, but there are ultimately a lot more good things than bad things about this drawing. Honestly, I wouldn't say that any of my Inktober drawings have been bad at all this year, which is crazy and pretty awesome. Hopefully I don't jinx it by saying that. -

Today's prompt is Disgusting and after that quote I think y'all will know why. Astral is a really fun and interesting character. This drawing turned out so dang well, especially compared to my drawing of her last year. Especially her hands. Hands are HARD you guys. Any artist who's tried to draw them will know exactly what I mean. Ridiculously proud of those. And the hand yesterday was awesome too. (I kinda cheated on Friday with Star's hands, but her arms look incredible. ) And the gestures. Originally I wasn't very excited to draw this because all I'd gestured out was her face. But then I came up with the dress idea and that made me very excited. The dress kinda changed as I worked on it though. The first idea was that it would be ripped, but then I remembered that Astral wears a corset, so the dress would be a lot more structured. *shrug* I've drawn her in a ripped dress before and that turned out super well, I'll attach that too. (and actually, that was the drawing that confirms she wears a corset) But a ripped dress would have been a lot harder. Overall, I don't think this drawing captured the same amount of emotion I wanted it too, but it does look quite lovely. -
Okay, I'll do that.
