  1. Ember brightened. "Right." And then, she began walking, pulling Heather along with her. What Ember did not say was that part of her eagerness to see her master was that she did not like being stuck babysitting. Hopefully Star would have a new task for her. It wasn't that she didn't like watching over Heather in the first place, it just got tiring day in and day out. Wasn't there anything better for her to be doing? Feeling slightly selfish, she played with the fingers on her free hand, moving her wrist and fingers.
  2. "My telepathy is never wrong." Ember cocked her head. "You are afraid and I do not understand why. I have plenty of reason to fear Star; she is my Master. But your relationship with her is completely differing. Why are you afraid?"
  3. "She would not be too busy for you," Ember said, "and I sense she is not stressed right now."
  4. Ember froze. "Should we not?"
  5. Some of you will have seen these on Discord months ago. I'd source them, but I got them... months ago. So... *shrug* Spoilered for length General memes. Avatar Memes These last memes are ones I made. They are pictures from my school's variety show last year.
  6. Balanced on her hands as she was, Ember was effectively a foot taller than normal. It was odd to see the world this way - all upside down and topsy turvy - but she was slowly getting used to it. She did notice, however, that the floor beneath her seemed to be slightly more strained. That made sense; her weight was now being distributed over a smaller surface. (She'd noticed that she had rather large feet - much bigger than Heather's, certainly - and that did not help her opinion of them in all their strangeness.) After walking around for a moment, she decided it was probably better to go back to walking on her feet. After all, Tom's flying ship had been made to support the weight of humans and Ember weighed considerably more than a squishy human being. Ember cartwheeled gracefully back to her feet and shook herself, her metal hair making a racket of noise. Her molten insides slowly slid back into place, making Ember feel a bit dizzy. "Oh," she exclaimed, putting her hands out to steady herself. "Maybe I should not do that again..." She grabbed Heather's hand. "Come on, then, let's find Master Star!"
  7. *breathes out* Oh, here we go. 1. Okay, so, I've been reading Sanderson stuff since I was 10, when I listened to Elantris on tape with my dad and then got Steelheart that summer for my 11th birthday. I found out about the Shard not too much later, looked at a few posts, but I was way too scared to join. A couple years later, my dad convinced me to finally join and... Y'all, this site has changed my whole life. 2. This needs a few sections. - Acceptance: I have loved to read since 2nd grade, but in my first friend group, I was really looked down upon for that. Long story short, I ended up leaving those friends (and it took waaaay too long for that to happen) but after that I didn't really have anybody besides the characters I read about. Real people scared me. It was because of this place that I got over that fear. Looking back at my life, it's kinda scary how low of a place I was in before I joined and it's crazy how much better I am now. - Friendships: Last one led right into this. I love you guys. All of you, you're all great, I just wanna hug all of you! It is not an understatement to say that the friendships I've made on here have saved my mental health. - Creativity: Those of you who lurk around on Creator's Corner, you've probably seen Eternal, the story Xino and I have been working on. If anyone cares enough to read about how that got started, the story (a very shorted version) is in the spoiler, but TL;DR, I really, really want to be an author and my story was born here. That is a priceless gift. 3. Shards, you guys, I don't know how I could have survived quarantine had I not joined this place. Shout out to TLT (CBST's birthplace) and TLPW (The Keyed Trilogy's birthplace), I love both of them, they are my babies and I love both of them even though they fight a lot and I don't post on either anymore. I would also be at fault not to mention CBST here. That RP has a special place in my head and heart. Have a happy day you guys!
  8. Welcome, welcome, welcome!! We're happy to have you!
  9. "Yay!" Ember exclaimed. She raised one hand off the ground in celebration and - miraculously - stayed perfectly balanced. "We should both walk on our hands to her!" Ember suggested. "That would be fun."
  10. CHAPTER TWO IS DONE. Xino hasn't finished chapter 1 yet, but you don't need to have read chapter 1 to read this. So. Without any further ado, here is chapter 2: A Fateful Meeting. Enjoy!! Oh, head's up, this pretty long, it was about 7 and a half pages on google docs. Art for this chapter!
  11. Ember walked on her hands so she was facing Heather, as easily as she would have on her feet. "It feels quite natural, actually. I want to show Star. And you wanted to ask her to sing."
  12. "Okay," Ember said. She let go of Heather's chin and bent over, standing on her hands. Just one more interesting way to hold herself up. "Oooh," she said, the metal strands of her hair falling down to the floor. "This is fun." She giggled metalically.
  13. "It's not about what you deserve," Ember said. "If anything, Star has taught me that." Ember took Heather's chin, like she'd seen Star do before and tried at a smile again. It was slightly less toothy this time and not quite as forced, but it still didn't look natural. "I don't think I deserve praise either."
  14. "Why?" Ember asked. She lifted her head, glass eyes meeting Heather's metal ones. "Why is it wrong to bow? I don't understand."
  15. Ember rubbed her arm. "I don't want anyone to get hurt."
  16. Ember cringed as if waiting to be hit, covering her face with her hands. "I should not have snapped, I know I was out of line, I'm sorry," she said quickly. Every bone in her metal body screamed at her to bow fast and bow low, but she knew she shouldn't.
  17. We are both writing this together. I have written about 95% of what we have so far though. He does, in fact, get a nickname later, but it's pretty late in the book. I would say just call him X. Otherwise, I just call him X sixty five seventy four, which I find is easier to remember. Also, just for future reference, double posting is typically frowned upon here, you can just edit the post before. It's okay if you didn't know though.
  18. Oh my goodness, I love it so much!! That's awesome! I don't remember what the first thing of X-6574 was that I tried to draw, but the second was him floating in the black liquid of his chamber. It turned out... less than only okay. *shrug* You're welcome to take a shot at it if you'd like! The Key actually already has a canon symbol, I painted a picture of it a while back. Pretty cool, huh? (though, my lines aren't as straight as I would have liked them to be) I also did some art of the Key itself last Inktober. (And I'll be doing Inktober this year too, totally check out my thread when I post it next month!) I should show you guys some art of the main characters, shouldn't I? I'm not going to give names because names get tripy, but....
  19. I agree with both of these things so much.
  20. Oh, thank you!!! Seriously guys, all this positive feedback is so great, we really appreciate it. You've never said, "Kay kay"? I say it all the time!
  21. Yup, this thread! I don't know how long the wait will be, but right now I'd place it at an optimistic two weeks. Hopefully less, we'll see. Xino and I have busy lives.
  22. X-6475 doesn't get romance in book one. But he will in book two! The romance was kinda what started this whole thing, honestly. You would not believe how much has gone into writing this story; the amount of times I've had to retcon huge chunks of it... Well, it's exhausting. Ugh, I wish I could tell you guys all about it!!! But spoilers. We're working hard on getting that first chapter up though. And most of chapter two is done as well; both chapters will probably be posted at the same time, a total of around ten to twelve pages on google docs.
  23. I love it! Keyed is weird because the first book takes place in a sort of 1800's setting and then the second two take place super far in the future. It's sci-fi, fantasy, romance, drama, the whole package. So a mish-mash of future and past is perfect.
  24. Aww, that is super cute!
