  1. Uhm. Uuuuhm. Getting into the tough questions immediately. Probably Final Empire, as it was my first and it dragged me in. Looking forward to it.
  2. I always associate A Fire on a Hill, by Hands Like Houses with Kelsier. Especially the following part: The rest mainly fits in my head, as I listened to this album alongside reading Mistborn for the first time.
  3. Triple shard of Ambition, Dominion and Odium could be Tyranny. While it's not a divine attribute, I feel like it fits too well to not be added.
  4. Whelp, there goes the theory, unless you want to do a lot of mental gymnastics about how Hoid might think the power corrupted his loved one, but would be the only way to bring them back etc.
  5. What WoB said this, because I couldn't find something like it on the Coppermind. There, it only said he was present at the Shattering.
  6. What I did for my own profile picture (Truthwatcher and Windrunner combined), is use GIMP, and put them over each other, then remove some of the parts that looked bad. The twirly bits for example were covered.
  7. Dominion, combined with Odium and Ambition would probably form something like Tyranny, or a shard that's very much inclined to tyranny.
  8. Death is different from Ruin though. While Death is inevitable, unless you're Hoid, and can be peaceful, Ruin has, at least in the minds of most people, a negative connotation. Ati was probably himself ruined (pardon the joke) by Ruin, as Ati was "Once a kind and generous person." So the question again comes down to what's more powerful, Shard or Vessel. Speaking of Ati: I once had the thought that Ati, as the kind and generous person he used to be according to Hoid, may have taken up Ruin because he thought he could mitigate the dangers of the Shard, instead of for example Rayse, who would have destroyed immediately. When Ruin made Scadrial with Preservation, he helped, with the condition he could destroy them at some point. To me, this shows his natural inclination towards entropy, instead of intentional destruction. Then, after a while, he was corrupted by the Shard and by Preservations betrayal. This led him to be the Ruin we see in WoA and HoA. That's just a thought I had though.
  9. If their full range of possible desires fall into what we consider evil actions, can you consider them evil? The actions are bad, I'm not denying that, but morality is based on choice. If all their possible desires are "evil", they don't have a choice but to act in that way. That's not to say that Ruin and Odium shouldn't be stopped, just that they're not evil, perse
  10. Would be weird, and I hadn't considered Autonomy. Maybe she'd be an exception, or she's as controlled by the limits of the Intent as the others, but it's just that the Intent allows for more freedom, since "Autonomy" is a bit more vague than "Ruin". Just look at the numerous posts and discussions about Autonomy on this site.
  11. Maybe they're too controlled by the Intent, a bit like the programming of an AI that can only operate within specific parameters. So Ruin can only do things that ruin, but within that, Ati is free to operate. There's just not many things he can do to not be "evil". Same with Odium. Divine Hatred is hard to put a positive spin on (and Rayse was said to be a bit of a jerk so I'm sure that doesn't help).
  12. The morality of Shards basically comes down to, does the Intent of the Shard cause the actions of the Shard? A tiger can kill a human, but that doesn't mean the tiger is evil. Basically, who is in control? If it's the instinct of the Intent that's controlling the actions, you can't say it's evil any more than a tiger is evil. If the Vessel controls the actions, but is influenced by the Intent, I'd say that's evil. Maybe this is Brandon's way of saying that the Vessels are being controlled by the Intent. *rambles on with aluminium hat*
  13. Fractals are pretty. And ironically, the Cosmere can't seem to teach us about itself, or we would be way, way ahead with all these theories.
  14. Ah right. I know very little to nothing of physics, so it made sense I'd get it wrong.
  15. The shape of Roshar was, I think. I don't remember the name, but it was on the 17thShard a while back.
  16. It could be amazing narratively. Hoid, the person we're used to see get his way, seemingly in control of everything, in love with a literal God. It'd make him seem less overpowered in an instant.
  17. On the Coppermind it said gemstones in general cannot be produced through shardcasting. It still needed a quotation, so it may be that you can't cast polestones, but I'm not sure either way
  18. I haven't read all the WoB's so there's probably one to contradict me this, or the theory may have already been posted once. However, I wanted to put it out there just in case. The theory is that Hoid had some kind of relationship with Adonalsium, or the holder of Adonalsium. Whether this is family, or romantic (we do know he's had multiple love interests in the past), I don't know. Based on Hoid's seemingly wanting to get at least a lot of the different powers, and The Traveler, the very short story Brandon read at a signing a while back, I think this may be possible. He may want to try to hold the powers to get a glimpse of his loved one, or believe that that may bring his loved one back. From The Traveler we do know that The Traveler, who is Hoid, has lost someone dear to him. Potentially the pomegranate is symbolic for this, as in Greek Mythology it's a fruit of the underworld, and eating one of the seeds will force you to stay there, but that's relatively irrelevant. That's basically it. If you have any input, I'd love to hear it
  19. Hi, I'm Gavtyven. I'm new here. I read all published Cosmere books over the last year and started to become slightly addicted, so for more content, I'm here now.
