I think it's okay at best, and certainly not one I plan on revisiting. BOBF is a show that's built around the in-world and real-world reputation and infamy of Boba Fett, and the perceived injustice the character suffered because of his "untimely" demise. If you don't buy into the character's shtick, then the show may not work for you. If you do buy into the character's shtick, the show still may not work for you, as the show diverges itself from who Boba has been seen as to where the show wants him to go. I fall into the former category mostly, and the later a little, and so the show doesn't work for me on most levels. The acting is good for what it is, if not a little stale (Ming-Na Wen always delivers though), the setting has great sets and terrible settings, the story is meandering and not very tense, most of the flashbacks are straight-up boring, and the action isn't that good. At least to me. I know people who love it, and I know some who just can't get into it. Of the MCU/Star Wars shows released on Disney+, I think this one has been the most...middling in terms of reception.* And that's fine, since not every show is going to knock it out of the park. My dad likes it, and that's good enough for me. For a newcomer, at this point I honestly recommend starting at Episode 4 and just watching 4-7 when the season is over, rather than watching 1-7. Assuming I recommend this show at all, which I'm not likely to do. This may change once the season ends, however. *This is counting: WandaVision, Falcon & the Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars Final Season, Star Wars Visions, and The Bad Batch. Visions probably is in second place for those who watch it, but that show was always going to be divisive by its very nature.

Galad from WoT Saul from Fire Emblem (Binding Blade) Jacob from Mass Effect 2 Finn from the Star Wars sequels because he's clearly not cared about by the writers or directors (JK, they care about him, they just didn't know what to do with him...which feels very weird.) Samui and all of the Jinchuuriki from Naruto (although less so to Killer Bee and Naruto since they get a lot of screentime and I wouldn't consider them characters no one cares about.)

spoilers for every movie Spiderman
Use the Falchion replied to Channelknight Fadran's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Okay so it's been about three weeks, and I think for a movie this size the limitations on some spoilers can end. There have been talks about and fan support of a third Amazing Spider-Man movie with Andrew Garfield and Co returning. If this happens, and if they happen to introduce Mary Jane (officially - Shailene Woodley was cast as MJ Watson and had filmed scenes in ASM2, but they were all cut), should Mary Jane keep her iconic red hair? I ask because if they open the floor to NOT doing so, they may broaden the casting choices. MCU MJ doesn't have red hair, but she is also "Michelle Jones-Watson" and isn't considered the same character...despite having the same initials and playing the same role.* And they could also expand the casting choices and have the actress dye her hair or wear a wig. Anyways, I'm just curious what people think about this, and if they're comfortable with another interpretation of the iconic interest having a different hair color, and possibly being of a different ethnicity than classical and original depictions, or if the red hair matters. (Batman has done this with Catwoman, although maybe Lois Lane for Superman is a better example. Iris West is a fair example of a race change that more or less caught on, but her look is less iconic than someone like Lois or Jean Grey or Mary Jane Watson.) *Maybe this was done to introduce Mary Jane later if Michelle didn't land as a character, but since she did, they are effectively the same. Michelle being MJ was also a late-movie twist for Homecoming. -
A Tiktoker named Nicque Marina is doing videos of Dolores reacting to Bruno's rat telenovelas. Her videos are pretty explicit, but it's also really funny.

White Sand Omnibus Cover & Release Date!
Use the Falchion commented on LewsTherinTelescope's article in Brandon and Book News
I'm definitely a fan of the new cover! (I liked the cover on Vol 1 also, but I like this rendition too!) Not sure what to expect since I never made it past Vol 1 for a myriad of reasons, none of which are linked to the quality of the series, but I'm excited for this to release! -

I liked it! It's not my favorite Disney movie, Lin Manuel Miranda musical, or Stephanie Beatriz role, but I really liked it! I'd give it a solid B.

The book I bought today is
Use the Falchion replied to Briar King's topic in Entertainment Discussion
The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan. I have the classic, 90s cheesy cover, but I think I lent the book to a friend and haven't seen it in, like, two years. So, I bought the updated cover paperback version! WoT Season 1 and some other ideas inspired by WoT have really made me hungry for this book again, and I'm really enjoying it so far, even though I'm only about three chapters in. This book really highlights the difference between the book and the show, but not in a bad way. Books can get into detail and spend time on things that shows don't always have the luxury or financial freedom to do. As I'm reading this, I'm curious about how the show will be different, and I'm excited to see what those differences are. -
I was thinking that Skyward would be enough for one season, and then Starsight could be bolstered by Defending Elysium. Then again, I'm the sort of person who would put flashbacks in nearly every television show if I could. (Stormlight Archive and Arrow really made an impact on me.)

What Are You Listening To Now?
Use the Falchion replied to Chaos's topic in Entertainment Discussion
You are always welcome! I wouldn't mind if you came out with a thread every year! I like the idea of having a special place for the end-of-the-year lookbacks instead of just lumping it with the current music being listened to. It makes the songs feel more special that way. (And since last year's thread was still active in June, I wouldn't worry TOO much about necroing that one. Although I do agree, better safe than sorry) Regardless, there are a lot of songs on your lists that I haven't listened to or heard of, and I'm looking forward to hearing them this year! -

Top Games of 2021: Mass Effect Legendary Edition* Dark Deity *It really shouldn't count since I've played ME2 & ME3 before. ME1 is the only new one. But since I haven't played ME2 in nearly 10 years and ME3 in around 6, I'm counting it. I also didn't want Dark Deity to be lonely. -

And now I want that story! In my mind, I was thinking of how Jorgen, Kaladin, Todoroki, Zuko, and Gaara would all feel if they could have a talk. (Todoroki, Zuko, and Gaara have the most similarities, but I think Kaladin and Jorgen would fit in pretty well. Then again, maybe Adolin would be a better fit instead of Kaladin, and Kaladin would do well talking with Aang and a few others...)
-
That was a really good read! I enjoyed seeing Jorgen's growth and his moment at the end with Cobb was really touching. I'm surprised at (and thankful for) how much screentime FM has gotten over these three novellas. I know she was the MC of Sunreach and important in ReDawn, but it still came as a shock to me to see how pivotal she was in Evershore as well. But I'm not complaining! I think her arc over these past novellas has tied into her arc in Skyward pretty well. Jorgen has come into all he needs to be, in the very Sanderson style of "let's skip a few ranks and get you to a position of power." But seeing his powers grow in so many ways was really awesome. Some ways were expected, others...not so much, but still pretty well set up and brilliantly applied. I'm happy these novellas were released as they were and released when they did. I'm happy we're getting more novellas, because Quirk was really shorted on page-time during these three, and I still want to get to know T-Stall, Sadie, and Catnip. Final thoughts: On Goodreads, right before Cytonic released, I remember someone recommending the reading order be: Skyward Starsight Sunreach ReDawn Cytonic through the final chapter Evershore Cytonic Epilogue I 100% back this order. I liked Evershore because despite knowing the ending, I was so curious about how we'd get there; but I know that's not for everyone, so the recommended method, while a little laborious, may work out better. Overall, I'd give this novella - and all of the novellas overall - a solid 8.9/10. I'm not quite sure they're worth a 9/10, but they're definitely on the cusp. I usually like to listen to the novellas during and after I finish reading due to work and travel time, but since I'm home on a break and plan on saving my listen-through of this novella for a later travel time where I will most definitely want and need something to listen to, I won't be taking this story in again in the immediate future. But when I do take this story in again, I'll definitely review my score of it. Other notes: While I'm happy the novellas and book weren't one combined story, as I remember a Redditor or two fearing and believing, I would like to see these stories be in one combined season for a Skyward television show. I think Spensa's journeys in Cytonic would line up very well overall, although the tone of that third book may paint our heroine in a less than flattering light to viewers who may not understand or agree with the central theme and tone. (Although the end of Spensa's journey in Cytonic paired with Jorgen's journey in Evershore would make for an AWESOME episode or two.)

Huh, I think I caught one! 46% through the novella, on Page 105 on my Kindle, Jorgen says "I didn't what it to mean..." instead of what I think should be "I didn't want it to mean..."

Just a random note and shoutout - if you want a nice and respectful place to discuss Star Wars, definitely check out Star Wars News Net's Cantina Forum! It's a great community and very welcoming and respectful! (Also, STAY AWAY FROM BRANDON'S STREAM CHAT! It's incredibly pessimistic and can be seen as toxic.) Now, onto the Season finale. This wasn't the best season finale I've seen, but it's far from the worst. I think it did its job, but nothing more, sadly. I'm curious to see where Season 2 goes, but despite my personal enjoyment of the show, I may wait on recommending this to more people until Season 2 comes out. EDIT: I do think that the finale did several things very well though, and I am very curious to see how certain arcs are handled in the future.

I really enjoyed it! I think of the D+ MCU shows, it's been the best paced so far. (WandaVision is in second place, but that show is weird by design.) I'll probably talk more about it once the finale airs and I've seen it more than once. My main theory for the ending from the first two episodes has been that Clint would bring Kate home to celebrate with his family. (I thought that Eleanor's punishment for gasslighting her own daughter would be the loss of their relationship.) But after last week, I think the show will end with:

spoilers for every movie Spiderman
Use the Falchion replied to Channelknight Fadran's topic in Entertainment Discussion
This was a great movie. There's a lot more that could be said, but I don't want to type it out, and we already know all of that. To answer the original question: Before this movie, I always said that I liked Tobey's Peter, Andrew's Spider-Man, and Tom's mix the best. After seeing this movie twice, I can say that I like Tom's Peter, Andrew's Spider-Man, and Tobey's mix the best. If I could add one more thing to this movie, it would probably be the existence of Insomniac's Spider-Man into this one, as I think that version of Peter would be the ultimate mentor to MCU Peter (especially long-term). It could also add some much-needed redemption for Spider-Man: Miles Morales' main villain, the Tinkerer. But I'm also happy they didn't/couldn't do this - Insomniac's Spider-Man is best doing his own thing with Miles in the game world and his level of experience would invalidate several other characters IMO. ...I may need to write out how that story would work. Anyways, I had a blast both times seeing the movie, and I can't wait to see where Peter Parker goes from here. Can I also add how BRILLIANT this movie is? This whole trilogy effectively served as a prequel to the classic Spider-Man that we know and love. And J. Jonah Jameson was not only has his most dastardly, but also is effectively neutered by the end of the movie, since his arguments no longer hold weight. It's brilliant. -
