  1. Glancing at River suspiciously, I affix my gaze to the back of the bar and reply, "Yes. That girl was strong, but inexperienced. But that doesn't change the fact that her forms could do some heavy damage for sure." No need to mention that I wasn't sure of victory at more than one point to him..... "Power means nothing if you haven't the skill to back it up, wouldn't you agree Adolin?" Turning an inquisitive eye in his direction, I watch him carefully. No need to let him know that I know his real name, yet....
  2. Good luck, Silus, and have fun.
  3. It's temporary, Explanation here
  4. I demand to be able to change my name once for every second in the month.
  5. Happy birthday, peter! i was looking forward to doing this on time, however, i have been bereft of PC access since about 4 PM friday. Just having arrived home, I have now change my name, in a fairly late manner!
  6. Actually, one of the people who admin's this (silk and chaos) has to add you to the whitelist, and then from there you send an email to the address (all at(@) readingexcuses.com) and it forwards to everyone on the list. That way you dont have to publicly share your address, you just need to get into touch with one of those two.
  7. As clarification: The OP will not be shot for making a MLP thread. Emeralis, however, WILL be shot/spiked for either posting or participating in a MLP thread. He will also definitely be shot/spiked if he does NOT post/participate in said threads. Why? because that's how we roll. Well, technically i dont think any youtube videos of it are *legal*, but thats from the perspective of the person posting them. I don't see any legal trouble for the viewers, though.
  8. yeah, she was like 80-something. Like i told my fiancee, it's sad, yes, but surprising, no.
  9. That was my thoughts exactly on the subject, but I didn't want to assume everyone knew her works.
  10. That kinda sucks. Dragonriders of pern is one of my favorite series, personally. She will certainly be missed. Anyone else read any of her works?
  11. Personally, I've never really been on board with the "parshmen = voidbringers" thing. I've always thought that there has to be more to it than we know, but I haven't really had any strong evidence. To me, it seems to be be too simple to be the ACTUAL reveal this early into a series that is going to be quite long. Also, i've always felt that SOMEONE after the previous desolation would have written it down SOMEWHERE that their new servants = voidbringers. In all reality, there would have been a group of paranoids dedicated to the cause that the parshmen are evil, and would have at least had some literature preserved somewhere pointing it out specifically. Basically, i've just always felt that it was too simple of an explanation too early on to actually be 100% correct. I fully expect it to be turned on its head and pulled inside out before the end of the series.
  12. i'm pretty sure the mist sickness wasn't CREATING mistings, it was just snapping them..... Also, yeah, the mist sickness was direct intervention by preservation. I'm not sure what sort of implications this has in what he could actually do to turn the tides.
  13. are you talking about a place to post your own review (like write your own) somewhere here? because if so, you could just write up a blog post using the blogs feature of the forums, and then maybe link it in your signature or something. Or are you talking about a collection of reviews you can find online? Because if thats the case, that might sound like a pretty good suggestion for a wiki article rather than a stickied forum topic. Like as a "related links" section for the book or something.
  14. There's such things as atium mistings. We call them seers. After a quick google search, i can point you to here in the annotations of HoA where brandon talks about atium mistings. Also: i'm moving to the mistborn board since its more appropriate there than in general theories.
  15. i dont see why not, either. I've never really watched the show (ive seen a clip here and there online) and it doesnt really look like my thing (i like the animation, though) but it's what's big with the kids these days (and the not-so-much kids from what i hear). So long as you aren't trying to convert the forum from a brandon fansite forum to the MLP fansite forum, i think you should be good
  16. Apparently the US congress approval rating is lower than polygamy, porn, communism and other things...
  17. Yeah, unfortunately, i don't see the company's that they partnered with for this to EVER let them do anything outside the US.....
  18. well, first off, the passwords are supposedly salted anyways. MD5 on its own is easy to break due to rainbow tables, as you mentioned, but salting makes it impossible for rainbow tables to break it. In fact, that's the point of salting an MD5 hash is so that you can't use this method to crack it (because a hash of "random128characters.password" likely won't exist in the prehashed rainbow table, generally). With a sufficiently long salt, brute force attacks are basically a waste of time. Granted, I can't vouch for anything on the security side of TWG outside of what spriggan said in that topic. Also, like i said, there's kinda nothing we can do about it outside of clicking the "report abuse" link on the pastebin. It's not like we have some sort of in connection to pastebin to get it taken off. Also, since it's all ready been indexed by google, it's likely too late to get it removed from google results anyways.Afterall, as they say, once it's on the internet, it's there forever.
  19. And like other google services, is free. Up to 20,000 songs can be stored on your google account and streamed for free to various devices (PCs, android devices, presumably iOS devices, etc.) I've been using it for a while when it was in beta, and i quite enjoy it. They've also added a music shop to purchase your music through them.
  20. we have a topic about it here from a few months ago. This is basically the reason that TWG was shut down, once spriggan found out. What exactly are you wanting done? Best we could do is have everyone click the "report abuse" button on pastebin, but even if it gets taken down, the person behind it is likely to throw it up somewhere else.
  21. Mulling over this information for a bit, I pop another of the small spheres into my mouth. "As good as another drink sounds, I'm afraid I may have to take a rain check on that. For the moment at least, I'd like to keep my wits about me. I think I will pay your friend Ghrant a visit, see if he knows anything. How would I go about finding him?" Considering a moment, I add to my previous statements, "I'll probably be back here a few times during my stay here, so I may as well begin to build a Rapport. The name's Eerongal." Holding out my hand invitingly for a handshake, I continue, "I have a few friends kicking around here and there at this tournament, and a few 'friends' if you catch my drift. I'd appreciate it if you happen to hear of anyone looking for me."
  22. Yeah, i know, what was i thinking, right?
  23. I'm not sure. I own oblivion for the 360, because back when it came out, there was no chance my PC at the time could play it. Edit: also, i will say i'm pleasantly surprised with how well it does perform on my current PC. My PC isn't exactly high end and it runs at a good 25-30 FPS in general, with a few spurts of lag here and there (and some lag that I think is bug related after 30-40 minutes of play), but overall it's easily playable.
  24. So....i was playing skyrim tonight and i ran across this person, and I'm of the opinion that her lute would make one of the most awesome electric guitars ever.
  25. Quick refresher on the story thusfar: Ch 1. In this chapter, we meet three important characters, Jobber, Zona, and Thu'dane. It starts with Jobber being chased by a gang of street toughs. Jobber himself is basically a young, small street urchin. We find out that this was due to him swiping something important from them because someone paid to do it. He ditches them using his personal knowledge of the area they're racing through, and proceeds to blend himself into a crowd to get away. Then The story shifts to Zona. Zona is a mechanic who specializes in steamcar repair, and owns her own shop. When we meet her, she'd just finished chewing out a customer who expected the world of her, and sets about getting back to work. About an hour later, there's another knock on the door. Expecting the previous belligerent customer, she accidentally begins to yell at a new face, someone known as "Thu'dane". Who has come at the behest of his master with a job proposal for her. He isn't terribly informative about the job itself, and leaves her with a contract filled with information and vague promises about her uncle. Ch 2. In this chapter, we're introduced to two more characters. Captain Barnabas T. Higgs and his partner Hubert. Hubert is currently backstage at a big promotion for Tipillo steamworks, working some sort of control panel, and worrying about the current sham they're putting on. As he listens to his friend, Barnabas, out on stage giving his performance, he prepares to activate the console. Almost immediately upon activation, he hears some loud and troublesome sounds from the machinery behind him. Cut to the stage, Barnabas gives the cue for Hubert to turn on the power after unveiling a new car line and some sort of jetpack. The mock "jet pack" activates and near-invisible cords pull him into the air. Shortly after his ascent, he feels one of the ropes snap, and he goes careening wildly over the audience. He's able to regain a little control, but as he swings back to the stage, the last cord breaks, and he goes flying. Landing in the front seat of the car, he's a bit bruised, but none the worse for the wear. And luckily, the audience bought it despite the technical setbacks. Backstage, Barnabas and Hubert are interrupted as Thu'dane appears and and begins some sort of proposal. Cut back to Jobber, it's night, and he's out to head to a preplanned meeting place where he is to drop of the package he swiped earlier. He's currently perched above watching the alleyway where he's to meet. He notices two fairly large guys walk up, and lets himself down carefully. After some brief banter and his payment, Jobber hands over the package. After that, the two boys set out to attack him. Luckily, Jobber had showed up a bit early and set himself a bit of an escape route. He was able to get up to a ledge and jump over the two toughs and continued racing down the alleyway. Unfortunately, he failed to notice the people standing at the end of the alleyway until it was too late. Hearing the boy speak, he recognized it as the leader of the band that he had previously stolen the package from. Ch 3. That's what went out this week.
