  1. You make more magical babies. Hence you are marriage material for the rich and powerful. Exactly. And who makes up a large part of the nobility, who will always have food and doctors?
  2. The Cosmere looks more and more dangerous. Sazed had probably not expected an alien invasion. He seems to be disappointed with their technological progress primarily. If, however, he and they have a reason to fear an invasion, war may indeed turn out to be the mother of innovation. That is highly debateable as the alloys of lerasium are boring allomantically speaking. 16 new allomantic metals, however, are not. And how do we know no new Seers are born? Without atium there is no way to test for them. It looks far more likely to me that executions will be by feruchemy. Death by old age. You will be forced to fill up an unsealed atium mind.
  3. The dilution happened due to a full mixing. But Scadrial is restratifying again. Nobles and the rich will breed with each other, concentrating the metallic arts. Especially if they get linked positively with social status.
  4. Well no, that is only half truth. The breakup of Adonalsium was about 6000 years ago at the time of the death of TLR. The last cycle of the Final Empire was about 1000 years. 9 initial Allomancers plus one bead for Hoid plus one bead for Elend. Assuming TLR really left two beads, we have 11 beads in 5000 years. So about 450 years per bead at most. A bit more than 500 years if those two beads formed during the Final Empire.
  5. If that is true, what happened to the beads formed during the last cycle during TLR's rule?
  6. Quoting the Words of Founding: So the beads were found at the well. Who made them? Did anybody make them intentionally? The common assumption is that TLR made them while he held the power of Preservation to give them to his followers. That, however, is not a necessary conclusion. He could just have used an existing resource. Sazed wrote about beads, plural, so this is not a reference to Elend Venture becoming a Mistborn. Is it possible that Preservation's perpendiculatity produced Lerasium in the same way Ati's made Atium?
  7. I suppose they tried to open negotiations and got rebuffed. In that case the traditional fear of Alethkar is gone in Jah Keved and Herdaz. The pillar of the Radiant forces is Azimir for now. It depends on whether they think that theu can make peace. If not the coalition will hold together due to the sheer size of the threat. If you look at it strategically, Odium's forces will try to join. That would mean to advance into Tu Baylah. That would suggest for the Azish to strike north towards the Purelake and for Jah Keved to hold the north. The coalition must also hold the remaining oath gates. Securing the Reshi Isles would also be a good idea. If you want toregain some initiative, you might act against Kurth or Rall Elorim.
  8. What is left of Alethkar? Kholinar has fallen. The Singers hold most of the country side. They are getting more and more Fused. With which forces? The Kholin armies? The Singers are also attacking in the West and still have the stolen fleet. They are hardly standing. They have had a civil waer lasting many years. Hardly in a shape to take offensive actions. They will need help.
  9. 16 ordinary metals. So the numer is 16 times 16. That gives you 256. If atium Mistings can become Twinborn, you get 17 * 16 = 274. If there are Ferrings of atium and they combine, you get 289.
  10. Suppose you were a Feruchemist and became a Surgebinder, specifically a Lightweaver. What interactions would you study, especially if you had some knowledge of the theory of the arcane arts? Yes, you know whom I am suspecting of doing exactly that. My suggestions for the generic effects would be: Stormlight and pewter - does the increase in endurance affect the muscles I get from a pewter mind Stormlight alters your mood - can that be stored in an electrum mind Stormlight heals - can that effect be stored in a gold mind Stormlight replaces breathing - can that effect be stored in a cadmium mind Can Stormlight in general be stored in a nicrosil mind Does tapping a steel mind speed up healing The surges: Does tapping a duralumium mind facilitate soulcasting Does tapping an electrum mind facilitate soulcasting What happens to the Investiture in a metal mind if I soulcast it into another metal Does it matter whether I soulcast my metal mind or somebody else's or an unkeyed metal mind Interaction with my spren Does my spren become stupid while I am filling a zinc mind Can my spren use feruchemy Interaction with a Shard Blade Can I store anything in it Does gold heal blade injuries (that is rather risky an experiment unless you are sure you have alternative methods) How full does a metal mind have to be to block a blade Does it matter which metal mind I use to block the blade (aluminium aside) Interactions with Plate Can I store the strength from the Plate in a pewter mind Can I store the Plate's mass in an iron mind Can I use Surgebinding through the Plate if I store most of my Identity away
  11. Well, if you want effective Elantrians, you will have to let, or even make, children practice Aons. Raoden certainly ordered that in the orphanage. Children learn to play piano or or whole lot of physical activities requiring extreme dexterity.
  12. May I suggest that you split the list into commands given to people (My life to yours. My Breath become yours.) objects awakened objects lifeless dead organisms Otherwise this is a phantastic list
  13. But there is no physical light in Shadesmar. The shadows pointing the other way gets very hard to explain otherwise. Nor is the weather explainable. All those dark areas should heat up beyond touchability and there would be a strong wind at the coasts.
  14. Isn't that what Harmonium already does? It causes what Ruin in some interpretation is: decay. If you wished to take that to the logical conclusion, Lerasium would store age, in effect granting eternal life.
  15. A blanket statement about the whole Cosmere looks extreme. The Final Empire would make a good mini series. And as dear as he may be to our hearts, Hoid is not essential to Scadrial.
  16. How would you do that. Aon Tia is literally everywhere in the city. Aons for fire are at every fire place. And so on. Raoden had no issue make a big fire at his first test.
  17. Very well, what allows the conclusion that Venli's viewpoints are mainly outside interludes and flshbacks? We know that there will be a lot of flashbacks for her. As far as I can tell she could be in group #3 And on another topic, how much will the Knights Radiant have learned about future sight by then? Enough to include Renarin into an expedition they really need to keep secret?
  18. You can become an Elantrian at any age. Perhaps you can change even in the womb and be born an Elantrian. We do not know exact limits, but there are examples of small children changing. So what happens if a small child changes? The option of doing nothing appears to be ruled out by security concerns. Relations between the Fjordell Empire and Arelon are not optimal. So what do they do? I doubt Elantris would resort to taking the children only and an orphanage. So they do need to house the parents. Do they go into the satellite cities? How do you school young Elantrians? From the hands of an undisciplined teenager or child Aons are not the safest things in the world. What do the parents do when the children are grown?
  19. Well, no. That is a logical short circuit. Let me give you an example. If you drill for oil, geology will determine the result. It was decided millions of years ago what areas have oil and which areas have not. But that does not tell you whether somebody will try to drill for oil in the first place. In the same vein, the potential oaths of an order may be computable from the Surges or the Herald of the order or something else. But that does not tell you whether the oaths were always necessary.
  20. Exactly. Three possibilities, however, not mutually exclusive Manufacture of an artificial spike (Awakening?) Actual observation of the spirit web Computational Hemalurgy - Rashek had no capacity to compute a lot of data. It you really go for millions of rats, a lot could be deduced
  21. That is debatable. It looks rather like the Heralds imposed the oaths and established the orders. The Heralds or Honor picked them.
  22. Hence somebody will try to find an alternate source of Investiture. What are their chances? Ehm. That Kelsier was especially connected to Preservation is a daring claim, unless you count physical contacts of fist and chin.
  23. Provided duraluminium does not wipe out your Stormlight. Hence the need for experimentation.
  24. Not fully. Even the foreword to the Historica, which we have, mentions hemalurgy. Probably not, but they don't really need to. The basic metaphysics don't really require that understanding. They do know that he took up the power of Preservation. They also mention when Leras (although not by name) died. It clearly was long after Kelsier's death. The basic fact of Kelsier's "continuation" are clear to educated Scadrians.
  25. That is the answer that generates the greatest amount of uncertainty. Yes, if you count these by PoV. There could be other interludes including her from somebody else's view.
