I agree Sleepless for sure came from somewhere else. Yeah, I think they came from somewhere we haven't seen. It makes sense for the Sleepless to be from somewhere else. Even after thousands of years their hordelings don't look quite like cremlings. People often comment on how a cremling looks "weird", most people aren't aware of the Sleepless existing so they don't know the significance. They also can't quite pass for human on close inspection. Part of the problem might be that they are trying to have their hordelings look like cremlings individually while fitting together to form a human. Not all of the hordelings are used to make up a human form though, they have more than is needed. Arclo did anyways. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Arclo As for Axies and the other Siah. I think on a Shardcast they theorized that they could be from another planet. The myth about Queen Tsa having a baby with the moon is told in Natanatan to explain their blue skin. Maybe they have Siah Aimian ancestry and those AImian's came from off world with the surviving myth becoming mating with a celestial body. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Tsa

Put fins and a racing stripe on it! I'm too dumb to contribute much to the fabrials. I'll give suggestions for addressing flammability and aerodynamcis issues that were ID'd in the OP. Add a thin layer of less flammable material to cover the wooden exterior in.This make it heavier, but less than soulcasting the whole exterior hull. At least make it so the enemy can't set fire to it with first contact. Make them work for it. Aerodynamics Right now it sounds like a WW2 transport boat where the front drops open on the lower deck. "The end construction was little more than a large wooden rectangle"; "The Fourth Bridge set down, and the front doors of the bottom level opened to accept passengers. " Narrow front and back to a point as much as possible and put the doors on the sides. I say both front and back because it sounds like the Shattered Plains team sends "forwards" and "backwards" force. Either end could end up being the leading end. Put a covering on top of front and back that flares out like the ship shown below. The cloth canopies they are using also help channel the wind without adding much weight. https://images.app.goo.gl/Jy9JzRbTfzgpaHBN7

The Singers have gemhearts in their sternum that spren can enter. Moash would need that or I guess swallow one like Amaram did at the end of OB. That's not advisable though. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/324/#e9353

Yeah it's not at all feasible right now for trips that last more than like a day, unless Dalinar is on the ship repeatedly renewing spheres via the perpendicularity or something. I guess he could do the touch on the chest he did to Kaladin. Not sure how often he can do that before he needs a rest. This ship is horribly inefficient and vulnerable. Like it would be nice if they could control the ship speed, altitude and direction via people doing things on the ship relying instead of two giant teams far away. Long term they'll need to use the surges. I think multiple gravitation fabrials positioned at different points on the ship would be the way to go, once they figure out how to make more efficient large ones. No. I have no idea how they do that. I'm just here to point out problems

I was gonna say that. The big idea person who has a good understanding of the underlying fundamentals, but has a ton engineers and other experts under her working to make the ideas a reality. Hopefully she is nicer than Jobs was at times. Storms into the room “I don’t want excuses, make it fly!” and storms out.

Forgive me I'm super dumb. They have a conjoiner they are dragging on a flat surface on the plains to dictate "forward / backward" movement and separately the Urithiru reverser lattice was going down a cliff to give "Up / Down" movement. In broad strokes that's consistent with ars arcanum. And the two lattices are "joined" to different sets of corresponding half-gems on the ship, right? So they can stay "up" and go "forward" at the same time otherwise it won't work at all. I know Navani says "alternating" between the lattices, but I didn't think that meant they had to completely turn off the gems giving them upward force to go forward. They'd immediately start to fall because gravity is always acting on them. Then they are using aluminum *somehow* to make sure the shattered plains team can only transmit "forward backward" movement and the Urithiru team can only transmit "up down" movement. In addition, the Shattered Plains lattice uses aluminum to make it so that they don't have to worry about what precise direction they are going in. Either aluminum helps indicate that when one side of it is pulled that always means "forward" regardless of which actual direction it's being pulled in. So long as they disjoin the gems when the chulls are making a U-turn then rejoin them to go "forward" again. OR when the are going a different direction they change the arrangement of the aluminum so that going back the way they came still transmits as "going forward" to the ship. ^ This right here is what everyone is bothered by, right? I don't know why. This official illustration of it clearly shows the aluminum reflecting the natural force vector into the direction they want it to transmit as. Which is a thing aluminum can do now, alright. CASE CLOSED! (I warned you I was super dumb) On the idea of the Shattered plains crew getting launched in the air. I see the concern, but we know spanreeds can be switched between "modes" for sending and receiving input. We don't know all the details of how spanreeds are made, but if they can have spanreeds set to "send" mode wouldn't they want the lattices in Urithiru and the Shattered Plains always sending input and never receiving? Vice-versa with the Fourth Bridge. It's half-gems should never be sending input, only receiving. I know spanreeds are conjoiners not reversers, but the same principal of send/receive could be applied.

It would be ironic for him to get the most front line soldier-oriented one. Since I don't really like Lirin I might enjoy that. The way he was so crestfallen when Dalinar was like "Edgedancers can heal by magic. Your services are not required" got to me though. I wouldn't mind if he got Truthwatcher and could use progression.
-
I've never liked Lirin. Welcome to the "has the correct opinion on Lirin" club! (I'm kidding, there's no official club yet) I hope Lirin doesn't die for Kaladin's sake. Kaladin's already not sleeping and hasn't resolved his issues that caused him to freeze up in book 3.

Yeah, he was a believer and that's part of how Odium got to him. He revered Heralds and then found out all but one quit. In his PoV he at the end of WoR he seems committed "The Sons of Honor had, at long last, achieved their goal. Gavilar would be proud." His goal, was to bring back the Heralds by bringing back their enemies. The Heralds were there the whole time and we see in the RoW prologue that Gavilar knew it too. He made by choices, murdering and enslaving for power, and justified it "for the greater good". This also made him easier for Odium to manipulate.
-
They definitely have spies in their midst. The dustbringer member of the diagram for one and a good possibility more have been recruited to either the Diagram or Odium directly in the last year one way or another. Moash was in Alethkar last we saw him and he can fly now, so he could have been close enough to get ther when this Fused teleported away looking for reinforcements. Moash getting his revenge of Roshone and surrendering seems like a pre-determined plan though.

Restares was his second guess, not Roshone. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Restares

Rereading how the Fourth Bridge works ... there is so much that could go wrong. They need to relay instructions to Urithiru AND the Shattered plains to change vertical & horizontal direction. They can’t steer or move forward without the Shattered Plains team and they can’t change elevation without the Urithiru team. The Urithiru team that’s just lowering a lattice off the plateau cliff outside of Urithiru. If they are on a mission and Urithiru is attacked let’s say the ropes holding the lattice are cut and it drops ... the fourth bridge would go waaaay up really fast and there would be now way to get it down. What happens if the lattice falls and tumbles end over end? Will the ship flip?

LOL I do like the theory. There is something up with his disappearing act. In Edgedancer the Skybreakers targeted Arclo in part because of reports he would be there one second and then disappear. The Mink could be doing it any number of other ways though. The Sleepless aren’t thaaat good at blending in. Their hoardlings stick out and look “weird” to people and Arclo had to wear a full body robe with a hood to pass for human.
-
Yes they met and talked on the balcony after the two Skybreakers flew off to go get killed. Nightblood senses her and told Szeth she was hiding nearby.

Theory about the Nahel Bond and Order Changing
Child of Hodor replied to Going_North_cal's topic in Stormlight Archive
We do have Szeth say to Nightblood in OB Ch 92 This was probably a spren that he didn’t end up bonding. Probably different than the high spren he’s bonding now. We also have the Ghostblood letter to Shallan about Nale intervening with people who haven’t yet sworn an oath. -
These are great points. I'm pretty much convinced.

Breaking a body down is Regrowth ... which does he have Transportation or Regrowth or both?
-
It's not Transportation Regrowth Gravitation Adhesion Tension ...
-
The Fused only get one Surge each. Not all have this ability. This guy might need to take over a Singer to get a body first. Once it's his he can break it down and remake it, but he can't make a living body out of component parts. I don't know. Good pull with the Spren crumbling! He's not teleporting though he's just moving around like Syl does then creating a new body. I'm not sure he always knows his destination before he leaves the first body. He's zigging and zagging to get behind Kaladin when Kaladin is in the air trying to dodge. Later the red light chases him but can't keep up. He's not going from point A to point B he's transforming and chasing then turning physical when he catches up. This could be a really weird transportation, but I lean towards soulcasting.
-
I think he's soulcasting. It's like he breaks down his current body, which is why it crumbles to ash instead of being a flesh corpse, zips around as just a Cognitive Shadow because he's much faster, then soulcasts a new body. When I think transportation surge I think warping around like the Oathgates or entering the cognitive realm with your body like Jasnah. This guy is shedding weight to sprint as a spirit. But he still has to travel the distance like a spren would we see his red/violet ribbon of light moving.
-
He abandons his shell and zips around as just a cognitive shadow, a being of investiture. I don't think he can hold much. He'd have to soulcast whatever objects anew each time in addition to the body. Maybe that's more effort than he wants to put it since he's 7 feet tall and has spikes on his body already. I dunno could be weird transportation Fused can do.
-
Let's all agree that the new Fused is awesome regardless of how they are technically able to do the disincorporate - zip around like a spren - reincorporate transportation thing. EDIT: OK what I said still stand, BUT is it soulcasting a body each time? It doesn't really warp so much as shed it's physical form because it can move faster as a spren-like Cognitive Shadow. Maybe it's surge is soulcasting not transportation.

Their original bodies died before they were made Fused / CS. "THE SOULS OF THE DEAD FROM LONG AGO" Stormfather in OB CH. 38. That's why they need new bodies. Unlike the Heralds who were made into CS while they were still alive in their original bodies. Also, the Fused could not use any surges at first. "AND EVEN BEFORE THE FUSED LEARNED TO COMMAND SURGES, MEN COULD NOT FIGHT THEM." Ch. 38 OB According to the Fused Venli speaks to in OB I-6 they can't share the space. "Unlike the witless Voidspren you bonded - which reside in your gemheart - my soul cannot share its dwelling."
