There is some things I would like to point out. 1. I don’t think the thrill is affecting your emotions. Doesn’t seem to make you more angry or anything instead seems to increase your desire for competition and bloodlust. When we see Dalinar in the thrill. He’s rarely angry. He’s more high on his own power. 2. I would like to suggest another possible possible source for information on void binding abilities. The regal forms. We know already that the regals bond lesser void spren (such as storm spren) And while we don’t know for certain, I think we can guess if the unmade can void bind then void spren can as well. An interesting enough, unlike the fused. The regals seem to have unique abilities that are not surge binding. Another place to look for details about their abilities might be the void Spren themselves. We know that regulars high spren our living personifications of the surges so it would make sense for the high void spren to be living personifications of (voids?) The way high Spren interact with the physical is often connected to the surge they represent. A similar thing could be happening with void spren.

Does anyone have any any other lower drops from the RPG?

the “Shard of Broken Connections.” I heard this befor in reference to Odium but I just don’t see it. there’s nothing in the intent of either hatred or passion in general that entails breaking connections. Though I do like the idea of being able to control the emotions through connection. But that said I’m not entirely sure what we see Odium the unmade and ulim do is manipulate emotions, exactly. The heart does take away guilt, and sorrow, but also amplifies your desire to party (which isn’t quite an emotion) whereas the thrill suppresses fear and guilt, but also amplifies bloodlust and competition (neither of which are emotions) I think what could be happening here is more along the lines of increasing your desires in such a way that suppresses emotions. Through I have to admit that moash may just disprove this. Unless odium is amplifying his desire for vengeance. But I don’t see any evidence of that in the text.

I guess what I’m having a hard time understanding is why you think “having feelings” cheapens a relationship. I mean it’s like saying that having them just be friends she is cheeps there relationship because they’re close this can be explained way by them simply “having feelings of friendship” for each other. I understand the words. I just don’t understand where they’re coming from. And I don’t see why we need an example of platonic friendship when we have for example, pattern and Shallan a relationship that is as close and nuanced as syl and pattern but purely platonic.
-
There are plenty of examples of shard bears in spren being just friends. in fact, that is literally the rest of the entire rest of the cast why can’t we have one exception to that? We have plenty of complex platonic relationships. Why can’t we have a romantic relationship? And are you implying that romantic relationship relationships are somehow less valuable than platonic ones? Respectfully, I disagree. Better question ask what does adding a romantic angle to their relationship take away from their relationship the answer is nothing. I honestly don’t understand what you mean their relationship Being overshadowed by they like each other? How does them having feelings for each other somehow lessen any of those emotional moments with each other? @The Stick I don’t get this either. I mean if they’re already closer than a married couple then why wouldn’t we want them to get together? I mean, are you saying that people who are close together? Shouldn’t form romantic attachment? Also, I would like to remind you that friendship and romance are not mutually exclusive You act like having a romance or somehow destroy their friendship or something, but there are plenty of people who are great friends and also in a romantic relationship. And you can’t think of a nail bond as one thing anyway it stated that different parent have completely different relationships with their. Knights for the bond is more like coworkers. Not friends at all, so it seems like relationship between bonded partners.
-
Tidoum doesn’t consider his reason selfish but I think you’re probably right there would be some change considering it seems to be desire of the shard, not necessarily vessel to go to war but I don’t think todium realizes that so he may be willing to pick up another shard
-
You assume that war is good. I’m not sure the War shard wouldn’t be down for Galactic conquest.
-
Isn’t that kind of the point they are literally two souls that have connected literal soul bound to each other the romance practically writes itself. Right to self. And I really don’t understand what you mean by loving yourself. Syl and kal are very different people. They have some similar struggles, but so do all romantic partners. could you try to explain this more? As far as I can tell syl and kal are two people who sold is connected, which sounds pretty romantic to me. Isn’t the whole point of romance two people becoming one while at the same time remaining separate.
-
OK, here are my predictions 1. Syl and Kal will form a romantic relationship. 2. Queen Jasna Will die. 3. The contest of champions will end in a draw.. 4. Kal will become , a avatar of honor 5. Kal will take the 10th Harold spot. 6. Shallan and Kelsier we have a conversation at some point. 7. We will get some more information about void binding. (this one is more of a hope than a prediction.)

I don’t see what your problem is. Are you saying that romantic relationships cannot be nuanced and complex? Do you honestly think That there’s anything simple about “ having feelings for each other” ? Do you think that it’s wrong for A romantic couple to rely on each other? These are honest questions your perspective seems so different from my own that I honestly can’t understand what you’re thinking. @SwordNimiForPresident honestly I always got slightly romantic vibes from the two of them. I never ship them until recently mainly because I thought that there would be no way for cognitive and a physical being form a romantic relationship no matter how close they were. However, at the end of rhythm of war seemed to provide away. So if this is where Brandon is going, I have no problem with it. And honestly, I really don’t understand those do.

Who’s talking to Kaladin? / Who is the Wind discussion
bmcclure7 replied to Lord Spirit's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The stormfaker -
Possible but unlikely. We’re not sure what the storm father or faker was trying to turn gavilar into, but whatever it was, he obviously wanted to succeed. Other times when radiant have tried to say the right words, but not really meant them there Spren has informed them as such. But that’s not what the suppose storm father does here. Assuming he did want him to become a knight radiant why I just tell him that he had to actually mean the words. Second Problem is the fact why lie at all? I mean if you wanted to make him a knight’s radiant why not just tell him that’s what he wanted. That’s what every other spren dose after all. @LewsTherinTelescope

Not possible. He tries to say the words variant and the storm Father (storm faker?) only laughs. Not the kind of response you’d expect if he was trying to get him to found a knights radiant. And if that was his goal, why you lied to him at all wanna be out front and tell him that he wants him to refound knights radiant? well, and what do you mean they don’t need a new Harold. Even in the best case scenario. Taln won’t last forever. They will need a replacement eventually. The obvious and clear solution that this is to raise a new Harold to take the place of the old ones.

[SA5] A somewhat unheard of Kaladin ship
bmcclure7 replied to BlueWildRye's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, if you’re looking for someone that he’s emotionally connected to that is female, that understands his weaknesses and accepts them anyways. Who knows how to help him. And who can be helped by him someone he understands like no other and understands him like no other. Then there is no other choice but syl personally I’ve never found anything platonic about their relationship. Could you elaborate? -
They exist. There would have been no point even talking to Gavilar if they didn’t. I don’t know if this is the storm father or storm faker. But whatever his intentions his desire for Gavilar to become a Harald seems to be genuine. The proof can be seen by his actions. He only abandon him once he realizes what a terrible Harold he would be.

A. Fused are surge binders. 1.“I don’t know who that is,” Navani said. She is bad. Terrible. Few Fused are as … frightening to me as she is. She’s trying to change me. So far, she changed only the portion of me that suppresses Surgebinding, reversing it so it affects Radiants instead of Fused. But she intends to go further. Much further. 2.These ones—called the makay-im, or “Those Ones of the Depths”—had access to one of her same Surges: the ability to turn stone into a liquid. 3. said—best not to lie until she had to. “Nine brands of Fused,” Raboniel said. “Nine Surges. You know of the Surges?” “The innate forces by which all life, all reality, are connected. Gravitation. Transportation. Transformation. But … I thought there were ten?” “That is human talk,” Raboniel 4.“They claim a tenth, of Honor alone. Adhesion is not a true Surge, but a lie that was presented to us as one. True Surges are of both Honor and Cultivation—Cultivation for life, Honor to make the Surge into natural law. Things must fall to the ground, so they created Surges to make it happen.” “And the Surge of these ones?” Venli asked, gesturing toward the Deepest Ones. “Cohesion,” Raboniel said. “The Surge of Axial Connection—the Surge that binds the smallest pieces of all objects to one another. The Surge that holds us together. The makay-im can meld their essence into the essences of 5.“The Radiants each have two Surges,” Venli said. “The Fused each have one. So are the Radiants more powerful?” “Powerful? Is it better to have more abilities, or to have one ability handled expertly? We of the Fused know our Surge with an intimacy a Radiant will never know. Humans. They 6. You will probably read the above passages quote the wob about the Rosharian considering any form of power to be a surge. However Raboniel isn’t your typical Rosharian and she makes it clear in the passages, I quoted that she has a very strict standard for what is and is not surge binding. And clearly she considers herself to be a surge binder. 7. I don’t have a copy of the other way of Kings so I can’t copy paste quotes. However, I’m sure you’re familiar with the passage where clearly states the heart void binding is seeing the future. None of the fused have the ability to see the future. So how could they be void binders. B. Spren Eating thoughts Again, I can’t copy this on my phone so you’ll have to look it up in your own book however syl when asked on the topic of what Spen clearly says that they eat the thoughts people have thinking about.

Very interesting I would like to bring up some few points. 1. It’s not necessarily that the powers themselves are feuded by passion, but rather the spren are fueled by passion and intern grant investiture to those who feed them. We know spren feed off of human thoughts of them. So if voidspren Represents passions, then people feeling passion could theoretically feed them. 2. I’m not convinced that emotions equals passions exactly mainly because of what is discussed in the preview chapters. 3. This idea of surges breaking connection is interesting but I’m not not sure how well it holds up. I don’t see how Renren illumination breaks any kind of connection. Yet what he’s doing is clearly using a void binding power as a surge. 4. The fused are not void binders. They have pacifically said to be surge binders. And they show no talent to see the future, which is a key component of void binding. (interesting enough I do believe that Regals are void binding since they use void Spren, and we know that at least one form can see the future)

No, Odium is not about conflict conflict. It’s just a byproduct of what he is he is about passion specifically hatred to a lesser extent passion in general. @ShardlessVessel I suspect that instead of a inverse first oath the void binders will have something more demanding something like “Take my Pain” a phase already associated with odium and unmade

It does seem that the unmade or connected to taking away emotion or at least negative emotion. We see this more than just thrill, but also with the heart of the revel. And I believe there even a death rattle that refers to it. Given that the unmade are associated with void binding it does suggest that there could be a connection

I thought of the thrill as consuming your fear, guilt, and other negative emotions you may experience while fighting. Exchange for amplifying the positive emotions of fighting, your sense of power, your desire to compete, to prove yourself stronger, etc.

Evidence for potential SA5 character death?
bmcclure7 replied to BlueWildRye's topic in Stormlight Archive
It my theory that she will die but leave behind a journal that her successor will read and that will be flashbacks -
passion, but not Passions, just talking about having passion doesn’t make you a believer or follower of the Passions. That’s like assuming that just because someone uses the word faith a lot they must therefore be a Christian.
