Because he's here. She considered the information, it was pretty vague, she knew when she ran the search herself she would end up with a lot more, but not while he was sitting next to her. And he's scared. I was mostly curious if there is a reason for that, or if he simply is that type of person. And he reminded her of herself, back when she was still nothing more but an Underling. The fear, how he never met her eyes, how he hid his smile, that he grew up in the dorms. Just like herself. "Me neither." she agreed and looked at him, at the way how he extended his hand towards the Kalea. No social contacts apart from his squad. She finally could place him then, knew why his face had seemed familiar in the first place. Back in the last war, on the roof. It had been that squad, that had come to support them against the robot-soldiers. He had been the one to build that EMP. "It's yours, if you want to keep it." She gently pushed the cage over to him completely. "I can't tell you how well it will fare outside of this cave, but should its behaviours change, it's interesting as well." @I think I am here.

I continue to keep my eyes open for a potential water supply of anything that looks differently from sand. Then I continue on towards the horizon.

Althea thanked him with a quick nod and then carefully placed a little bit of the mushroom into the cage. The Kalea moved towards the mushroom curiously, started to nibble at it, without showing any effects of grown tired. "Interesting." She said more to herself and took out a device, started to take some pictures of the Kalea and it's abilities so far. Noting Wes smile when he saw the creature she pushed the cage over to him. "We named it Kalea. It's a little Seeker." She saw how the smile vanished quickly, as soon as he noticed and the sight hurt. She wondered when she had smiled the last time around strangers, knew that she hadn't shown a single sign of her delight and the discoveries so far, neither to Adren nor to Karin. She had hidden all of it, just like the boy tried to do. I didn't see that kind of tech, no. Althea looked back at the boy. Could you run a quick search over an Underling names Wes? She send him a picture to go with her words. I'd like to know what we've got in our database about him. "Adren, this is Wes. Wes, meet Adren." She introduced the two and gestured for Wes to sit down as well.

"Thank you." Ophelia sagged in relief, still holding the bag close to her chest. "Thank you so much." She paused, tried to think of something she could offer in return and came up with nothing. She couldn't really give a used dress away, could she? "I could cut your hair?" She finally offered hesitantly, because it was the only thing she could do, that was real and no charity. "For free." She clarified, although if the girl had a place where she worked she probably would have been able to afford it. Maybe? Ophelia had no idea what she should ask for a hair a cut, she had never worked for only a few hours for the same person. She was used to take care of the same ones daily, to get their hair done in the mornings, to regularly cut it a little, to see the same faces daily. Slowly she moved a little away from the boy, afraid that he would reach out for her bag again. The girl she had thrown the coin to bought some food with it, reminding her, that she probably had just given away her only chance for a hot meal today. Not that it mattered. Hopefully she would find another way to eat something. "I am Ophelia." She introduced herself when she realized, that she didn't had a chance to do that so far.

Shana smiled at him as well, offered him a hand to stand up. "The battle is over." She said quietly. "Cass and Leona are gone, to this other realm I suppose, there is nothing I can do for them." Her voice broke at her words, but she forced herself to continue to smile. "There are a few new ones, let's take a look at them and see if we can help them to get setteled?"

Today’s prompt is: 31. Alleycity So I know that it's not the 31st for everybody yet, but as I'm not sure if I can post once it is, I decided to do it now. I have to admit it's a work in progress, to finish the whole blanket will keep me occupied till spring I suppose, but the patchwork is (nearly) done.

Exhausted I drop to my knees, a whimper escaping my lips when I stare at the knife. Looking up I stare at the sky, at the cameras watching me. A show. If I deliver a good show I will live longer. I've heard stories of the brave, of those fighting or killing themselves. Of those leaving messages. Staring at my bloody knife I know that I am too weak. I broke, I gave in. Sobs wrack my body and I bend forward hug myself. For a little while I allow myself a short moment of respite, then, as I still can see the others, I force myself to get back to my feet after a while, stumble in another direction and start searching for water. I try to get of sight, and keep an eye on the figures. I don't want to be backstabbed myself.

Ophelia pressed the bag to her chest, relief made her shoulders sag. "Thank you." She whispered and made sure to hold the bag close to her chest. Bending down she picked up the coin and handed it to the girl who had started to follow the thief. "Thanks." She repeated, grateful that at least someone had cared. She continued to press her bag to her chest and then looked at the sailor. "Do you need a haircut, sir?" She asked, hoped that her voice wasn't shaking too much. "I am good and I can also trim your beard." @I think I am here. @The Awakened Salad @Karger

Ophelia missed the coin thrown at her, yelped in surprise, when it suddenly hit her face and then fell to the ground with a light pling. "Give it back!" She shouted when he started to move away, her bag still in his hand, the coins in his other. Wringing her hands she took a few steps after him, unsure what to do, the promise of free food the other girls hand thrown easily into the room still in her ears. "Please." She repeated, angrily wiped a tear off her face when she was starting to cry again. Everybody was able to keep a straight face, and she, she always had to cry about everything. About every little thing. "Please." She repeated again, knew that this time it was no little thing. She looked back at the sailor, at the other girl, realized that they hadn't moved to help. Instead the girl was slowly backing away. She felt cold, shook her head in disbelief. "You don't need make-up, or a hairbrush, just give it back." @I think I am here. @The Awakened Salad

I freeze for a short moment, stare at the blood, then I turn around and run away as fast as I can, not loosening my grip on the knife.

"Cars." Temeria repeated, tried to wrap her tongue around the strange word, allowed Aln to pull her back on the small strip next to the road, where most people walked. One of the cars rushed by and she turned her face away from the wind and followed it with her eyes. Strange things. Why didn't people simply use carriages? They were so much safer. She made sure she kept close the wall of the houses, as far away from the cars as possible. Who knew what they would do. Hearing laughter she turned and followed the sound to a smaller square. Thankfully here were no cars, but some children were playing with sticks, fighting each other as if they were swords. Temeria observed for a while, noticed so many mistakes in their movements, that she was glad that they were only using sticks and no training weapons. And yet, it was a familiar sight, how they played, how they used their sticks. Some things obviously were the same, no matter where you were or grew up. "Look." She laughed and pointed at the small spren playing with the children. It looked like the other one had earlier, but it had no head, instead it left scorch marks on the sticks of the children. "I really like that, about this world. I missed our spren."

Ophelia looked up when a fourth person joined their group and smiled politely at the sailor. He had a weird accent, but she could understand him just fine, and she thought about a good place to eat. She had mostly eaten at the manison, the leftovers from the family, or if there weren't enough then cook had wiped something up for them. Something simple, but it had been enough for all of them. She opened her mouth to reply, wanted to send him - "I don't know." She admitted and shook her head. "I have no idea where you could find something to eat. Maybe you can find someone on the street selling some food," her stomach rumbled and she blushed from embarressment, when it reminded her of the fact that she had skipped breakfast. Her eyes returned to the boy in front of her, her hand still on the bag, waiting for him to let go. @Karger

Temeria followed Aln through the city and has her sister stayed quiet so did she. She had now idea what to talk about, knew only that talking about their past was the worst thing they could do. The air was fresh, but it wasn't really cold, warmer than Idris at least. For a while she considered different topics to talk about, but in the end she simply shook her head and gave up. Aln was living in a world of study and research and she simply couldn't keep up with that, nor did it interest her. They hadn't talked when they lived in the same house, why should they be able to after years? She looked up at the building Aln indiciated, and exploration company? In a building that was taller than the palace of gods. Impressed she stopped in the middle of a street and looked up at the building, forgetting about the strange fast carriages that people drove here, while she tried to grasp how tall that building was. And it wasn't the only one. There were so many of them, reaching for the skies like fingers. They were like strange inhabited mountains and she could only imagine how it had to feel to stand up there, to look down over the city.

"Not yet." Lena took a bite and smiled in satisfaction. Simply and quick, but it tasted good. "We figured we should go there first, do some reconaissance, find a good way to go in and out." She filled some apple juice into her glass and thinned it with some water, drank and swallowed. "I heard that the guild teaches, so we could use that as a pretense to head inside, take a look around. Search for escape routes, for way to get into it. With some disguises we might be able to get some information, so that breaking into there is easier in the end." Lena knew that there were holes in her plan, large holes, but she wasn't sure how to close them apart from going there and trying to find out more information about the place.

"I can heal from nips." She agreed without adding that she could heal lethal wounds as well. She was a Radiant. It was a given in the end. As long as she had some stormlight, she was hard to kill. Her finger brushed over the glass of the Kalea and she gave a slight shrug. "I don't know if they can be useful, but I like it. Recalling Karin's idea to try to feed the Kalea some mushroom she held out a hand. "A piece of mushroom would be great though. We wanted to see if they are part of this little one's diet."

As Po is distracted with attacking Ene, I do something, I never expected to do. It is a strange feeling to sort through my bag and close my fingers around the small knife I find in there. But it has a sharp blade and while I know that this won't end well for me either way, there is nothing else I can do. Two are already gone before the first hour passed and I don't want to be number three. My heart aches when I think of them, think of the friends this virtual me already lost. Carefully I close the bag again and take out the knife, it feels wrong in my hands and yet at the same time incredibly right. I rush after Po, my eyes firmly on my target, then I lift my knife, take my time as my target is distracted, I aim and then I stab Po with everything I have. As they taught us, I aim for the stomach, for the kidney, try to kill as quick and painless as possible. At least that is, what I tell myself. @Invocation @Blessing of Potency

"Not long." She smiled at him, glad that he seemed to be alright. "I just didn't want you lying around asleep in the middle of a battle." Her eyes roamed over the battlefield, but it seemed to be under control. At least nothing those standing could handle. So she just stayed where she was, close to Ben, a hand on his arm. "This is the worst wedding party ever." with a sigh she made sure so move around a little, so that she would be able to get up quickly in case of an attack and shook her head. "But maybe I am asking too much, when I want a single evening of peace, so that we can celebrate with our friends." ================== @Lunamor @I think I am here. @Wyndlerunner @AonEne @Aragorn @WannabeWorldhopper @Hope Spren @xinoehp512 @whoeverImissed
