"We all have our stories." She sighed and looked at Ana again, wondered when she might wake up."It's strange isn't it? That we met? Like the boy earlier, who screamed that someone stole his breath. We all have a story, but somehow we ended up in the same place. And most of us with the same problems." She looked around, at the stalls selling food and considered to walk over again to offer her services. "But right now, maybe figuring out what I'll have for dinner is a good start. Apart from the food Ana gave me, I ate nothing today."

Sagitta answered his smile with one of her own and followed him through the base. She was no officer, so she was basically worthless, but if they wanted to hear about gutting the bastards, then she could help easily. As soon as she had a two-handed sword she would finally be able to fight again. Really fight. Not stumble around with a tomahawk that was to short and too light to do any significant damage. "I don't mind how they see me." She shrugged, hesitated when a thought crossed her mind. Only because she had nobody that might be hurt by mindless talk about these things, she had no idea if the situation was the same for Price. "Unless you have to worry about them talking about you bedding me? Then I can polish their faces should I hear someone expressing a notion like that again."

"So, you will contact us?" Lena asked, worked hard to supress the urge to roll her eyes. They could get some of the working attempts if they waited. Waiting sounded so incredibly boring she wondered if they should just grab something only for the sake of stealing it. Learning how to build these devices sounded interesting, but she wasn't here to learn how to glue metal together. Or whatever it was that they did. She just wanted to steal something she could sell. Or something that was interesting enough, that it warranted keeping it.

Althea followed his words and looked behind her, to see him entering the cave. He looked great as he strode towards them, took a look around and obviously examined the people in the room. She didn't doubt that the others would notice him nearly immediatly, and made a small gesture with her hand, indicated the atium in the walls. Hello, Max. She greeted him and sent him a warm feeling along with her words, before she focused on the situation again. I know that it only benefits the DA. But I have to admit, I am glad if we can stop it from ruining our economy or causing another civil war. Still she couldn't neglect that she was curious what he had come up with. another idea was always welcome, although she wasn't sure if they could really influence what was going on here. There are at least least two members of the DA here. I suspect that there are more close by. Judging their change in expressions, they already contacted their superiors as well. Her warning echoed in her head while she watched Adren draw his fingers along his bandage, his hand twisting in pain. The sight hurt, touched a memory of herself burried somewhere deep in the folds of her brain and she reached into her pocket, wordlessly offered him some painkillers. She didn't smile at him, but her face softened just a tiny bit. "I agree on the sample part. The species in this cave are fascinating." her head nodded towards the beads on the ground. "You are right, we should." She agreed, but didn't kneel down again to start counting yet. Instead she wanted to give Max a chance to voice his idea first. @ElephantEarwax

His frown makes his face darker, somehow more dangerous and your smirk diminishes, when you notice that you seem to have offended him. It surprises you, as he had been up to your little game so far. But then you never evaded one of his questions completely as well. His wording had been too tempting, had called for a comment that went in another direction. Obviously your little change in topic hadn't been appreciated at all. "No, I don't worry about any bad company." You reply, without any flourishes at all and walk around a corner. You will reach your place soon and after a while you stop, turn to him, when you wonder what to make of his reply. Maybe he only tires to hide his affiliation, or his own moral standing. Maybe - you aren't entirely sure. "I doubt that there is a single really decent person anywhere in Sanctuary." Your voice has a hint of seriousness, that it lacked so far. "So for me good company is entertaining and not planning to stab me in my back. And bad company is everybody else."

"You would take me along?" Attayl turned around completely, the warehouse momentarily forgotten, her eyes never leaving his. "I would love to." There were so many possibilities. They could finish his book, and maybe he could write another one. About travelling, where to bunk and where to go to eat and which streets to take. Together. She felt a smile creep on her face when she looked at him and she felt light again. She remember how they had danced, how he had looked to her when Alyssa had asked him, if he wanted to leave. They way he had held onto her hand when she had escorted him upstairs. His Elizandra. But he had been drunk. She was nothing, nobody. "I am glad you are here." She admitted quietly. "I'm scared of going in there. I'm just a whore, no spy. I have no real idea what I'm doing."
-
"I don't want to die either." She agreed quietly, "But I will. Usually there are two possibilities when another gang takes over. You switch sides, or you die. Can't have loose ends running around. I might have been too uninportant to varrant killing, but somehow we ended up kneedeep in this conflict. I doubt that they will let me live." She closed her eyes for a moment, the cold air sharp in her lungs, her body shivvering slightly to warm up again. She turned around, walked over to a rusty ladder, leading down from a fire escape. She placed her hands on the metal, but turned around again, watched him stand there. He was here because of her. "Please, don't think, that I like this." she asked him, nearly repeated her earlier words. "I just see no other way."
-
Freezing Attayl hurried through the streets, her footsteps echoing in the street. Despite the fact that it was morning, the streets were nearly empty, the people scattering before the impeding fight. For most of them only the sign on an envelope would change, but for others - those that were deeper intervowen in the next of gangs were somewhere, readying their weapons, or leaving the octant. The Scarlets had lost, she doubted that they could recover from the blow Lance had dealt them at the dance hall. The warehouse loomed in front of her and she looked over her shoulder, saw Brilling hurry after her. Attayl pressed her lips together, before she slowed her steps, allowed him to catch up, and step quickly into an Alley. She could vanish in these streets, but he had come after her. It didn't change anything, and at the same time it changed a lot. He hadn't needed to, but he was here. "Brillin." She looked at him, wanted to add something, and couldn't find words that expressed what she tried to tell him. She moved a little out of the wind, shifting her weight from one foot to the other, while she made sure, that she couldn't be seen from the Warehouse and looked around. The Warehouse boarded another one, if they got onto the roof, they might be able to climb onto the roof of their target, and use an opening near the top to get inside. A crane was used to move heavier goods inside and out of the warehouse and that was, what she was aiming for.

Temeria remained standing when he didn't offer her a chair, silently wondered if this was a good, or a bad sign. It certainly was a distinct hint regarding her place here, and she couldn't help but look uneasily over her shoulder to see if there was someone to take her away once she finished speaking. Nothing. She forced herself to loosen her posture a little when nothing else happened and tried to find a good red line throughout her encounter with Mac. Considering his questions, he wanted to know everything, every little detail, and she wasn't sure if she could remember their conversations well enough to sate that curiosity. Shifting her weight to one of her legs she wondered if she could sum up some parts, and then decided against it. It was probably better to describe the whole picture and only leave the small details away. That way he also had the context oh why they had done, what they had done. "I met him at his boarding house." She started. "I arrived here," with a small gesture she indicated that she was refering to more than the room. "This morning, so a couple of hours ago. I hadn't exactly planned to go to this world and when I looked for a place to sleep I ended up at the Boarding House. We talked about prices, about where I came from and finally he hired me as a guard." Grimacing slightly she added, "I was a bit sceptical at first. He talked about in-, invested, that was it, people running around with Stormlight or other powers, and I doubt I could do anything against someone like this, but" her hand moved away from her body, brushing the topic visibly aside, " we spoke openly about it, and from my experience having a guard around usually deters about half of those thinking about making trouble. And I'd done that job before, so there was no reason to decline." It reminded her, that she needed another job. At least she had a place to stay now. Unsecure how to continue, she fell silent and then decided to leave it to him. "We talked quite a bit, so I don't know if all of it is relevant to you. About his immortality and how he achieved it, about the possibility to gain power, about my journey here, about this world and that some of his colleagues created it around 3000 years ago. That some call him god, but that he isn't, although he kept refering to himself that way, about - " she fell silent, shook her head when she stopped herself from adding alcohol and memories. Mac had told her, that nobody else knew, and there was no reason to spill his secret now. And he had mentioned that his colleagues didn't agree to his way to deal with what he had done, so maybe this wasn't the best topic to bring up. Uneasily she shifted her weight to her other legs and came up with something else. "about technology and that I should be aware of long metal barrels that shoot things than can kill me immediatly." She looked over at him, "I can elaborate on the different points, if it's neccessary? We left his place afterwards and I think that part might be more interesting." She offered and left the decision to him.

Perfect! Character Sheets please in this thread here, as the characters can only be used for the Prequel. We upped the point cap to 300, so the ranking of characters is different compared to normal AV.

"I don't like the rain." You nod, when he falls into step next to you, easily keeping up. "I prefer slightly moist, but dry weather." No too dry, to that the dirt stays where it belongs. And not too moist, or otherwise the streets will end up muddy. His tone and choice of words make you wonder if he is mocking you or not, but you just let it slide for now, not really caring about his opinion on you not liking the weather. The dirty water from the ground leaves little dark drops on your clean pants, and you hope that your hair stays dry. If it is wet it will curl in an awful unfavourable way, and you will need a while to press it again, that it's flat and neat around your face. With every step the urge to change into a dry and more importantly clean set of pants once you're arrived grows and you have to rein your temper in to stop yourself from nearly starting to run. And you're shoes will have to be cleaned completely as well. Walking around a corner, you continue along the next road and turn your thoughts to his other comment. He is right, the streets are dangerous at night, but so far nobody decided to follow you, and you hope that nobody will. The rain might discourage some to leave their hideouts, only the desperate ones will be outside today. And they are the one most dangerous ones by far. You stay alert, suspect that Sloane keeps his eyes open as well and continue on your way. Standing around will change nothing. "I do hope, that you will prove good company." you reply lightly, a slight smirk touching your lips when you wilfully misinterpret his question.

Uneasily she looked at the cutlass, averted her eyes from the blood dripping down. "Someone stole my breath, too." She admitted quietly, look up into the sky, mostly to look somewhere else. "My master died and the new one wasn't willing to pay for all of us, brought his own servants with him. My parents still work there, but he wanted one of his own to shave him - " her voice trailed off. "It doesn't matter." She sat down on the gorund next to Ana, pulled her knees up to her chest. "I never thought that it would be that difficult to find work, but I am young, I lack experience and of course the children of the servants already working at a place always come first." Finally she looked at him again, at this cutlass. "I wanted to open up a little shop. Have people come by, I do their hairstyle, or cut their hair, or take a look at their beard, and they pay me a little money and are off again. That's why I wanted to sell my breath. So that I can start and try to build something for me." She shrugged, a bitter laugh escaping her lips. "Obviously I have no idea of life outside of a household. It was blind to assume I could do it."

"Thank you." She replied quietly, and then shook her head. "We were no peaceful nation before the invasion. Clans always preyed on each other, but it was different. We had the same weapons, we had the same technology and we understood each others motifs. But now? They ride on horses, and we don't, they fight with different weapons - " She shook her head, sorrow written all over her face. "We lost many, only to learn how to fight them, and we are still loosing. Every single battle costs us lives and a little more of our country." She smiled sadly at him. "Of course I am good. If I weren't I would be dead for years. I just wish it would stop. that we could start to rebuild, as long as there are people left to do it." With a shake of her head, she pushed the memories aside. "I can come along for your report? Or is there something I can do, so that we are ready to leave, whenever they are?"

Wita followed him outside and looked around. The street was dark, not too many cars around and she relaxed a little, wondered if she could get along without storing at all. The night was calm, nobody hurried along the paveway and she slowly, tentatively took another step and then another, while she looked along the road. She hadn't seen, hadn't really seen a street like that in ages. To see it and to comprehend it - she knelt down and touched the stone under her fingers, wondered what had been so exciting about some of the stones she'd picked up. They had had nice patterns on them. Or they had been colorful. But they still had been stones. "I agree." She said and looked around, tried to orient herself, but failed. She hadn't paid attention on their way here, so she wasn't sure where to go now. "Do you know where the main street is?" Picking up a pebble she looked at it and smiled, when she realized that it was shaped in a special way. It reminded her of an animal, it's jaws open, with a long tail and feet. She pocketed it and straightened again, waited for one of the others to lead the way.

I love it so far. As good as number one in the series. Makes me wonder again how it slipped past me until my preordered book three arrived home. So far, looking at all his books Tamas is my favorite character. Ben, Vlora, Celine, Ka'Poel are all nice, but Tamas was the best. I loved his intelligence, how he sticked to his believes. I also enjoy Michel a lot, although I needed a little time to warm up to up. So now I'm really curious why you mention Tamas... Anyway, I'm halfway through book 2 and aim to finish it the nextdays, so that I can read the 3rd one between the years.

If Alleycomon was already used, maybe we should stick with it. Additionally it's easily recognizable as the name of a language. Let's see if someone else has an opinion on this matter, before we decide anything.

Maybe, I leave all this weapon stuff to you. But you could pack some of the moss, enough so that we are able to reproduce it, and some of the glowing mushrooms as well. Given then current development, I am not sure if we have another chance later. Althea replied after a while, her eyes never leaving Corette. Fascinating to see how quickly the woman went from distributing the atium and giving ACE a part as well, to supporting her inital idea. This complete change of mind had happened a little too quick, especially as her new proposition definitly didn't include ACE at all. They were only a few, if you didn't count the bunch of people Stancel had brought along. Corette's voice was calm, too calm. The woman hadn't bothered to hide her emotions so far and to speak calmly about the DA, especially as someone unaffiliated - possible, but unlikely. It was more likely that she had support from an organization in one way or the other. Add to that Karin's different reply to the same idea she had voiced earlier - Althea hid a smile, when she labeled Corette as potential spy and informed Max of the changed situation. The idea is it to hand it to the DA. Then it's out of the way. She heard the relief in her voice, but made sure it didn't show on her face. "As this was my initial proposition, I am naturally not opposed to it at all. Although I would like to talk about having access to the other caves on our way here." She replied loudly to Corette and gestured towards the beads in her helmet. "If Adren agrees, we could see how many we've got here and split them up."

If he had lifted a hand, slapped her across the face and pried the knife from her fingers, Attayl doubted that it could have hurt more, than these few words. I won't stop you. Shocked she stared into his face, felt as if she was some criminal, someone to be dispised and to be spit upon. As if she liked to run around and kill. Embarressment burnt through her body, hot and furious, while she tried to get away from his judging glance, the way he had looked at her. What had she imagined. She was nothing but a whore, a whore with blood on her hands. Of course he judged her, they all did. "Whatever." She whirled around and stalked over to the door. She didn't need him, didn't need them all. As soon as the last Scarlets were gone she could leave, and they would forget about her. She would free Lance, help him to finish them off and then, then she would have to come up with something else. She stepped outside, a cold wind made her wish for a coat, but she owned none, and to walk back, ask Nerin for a coat - no. She couldn't face her again, couldn't face them all again. They had no business in this mess, this was something that should have stayed between the gangs. Her steps echoed in the alley when she hurried towards the warehouse, followed the instructions the boy had given them. @ZincAboutIt

I've got it home, but decided to finish gods of blood and powder first. I liked the first two, although something was missing. All in all I never really warmed up to them completely . Still look forward to the ending though, especially if it's satisfying.

Actually it's a spren. She replied and studied the picture he sent her. But don't tell the others, I kept that to myself so far. Max was broken as he stood there, a huge crack running through his figure, and he was obviously rioting. Broken. She remembered her own picture, with the ton of little cracks instead of the huge one. We are all broken messes. Max words and again she found it to be true. True in a way that nearly hurt. She wished that one day, they would heal, they would take small steps and start filling these cracks up. One after the other, until they were good again. The forest is next. She informed him, sent a comforting feeling along with the thought, hoped that the picture didn't unsettle him. We reached a stalemate. Nobody is willing to make a decision, so we are standing around, eyeing each other and doing nothing.

Glad to make you laugh (And if you're not only French, but also live in europe it's great to have someone else in my timezone around ) I gave up on pronouncing names properly a while ago... I just guess and hope people understand who I mean
