"Hey." Shana smiled, and then shook her head. "School is a catastrophe." She admitted. "I failed maths and then my teacher gave me the 'poor orphan, do need someone to talk to' speech." She frowned, looked at her drawing. "And all of this only shows me, how we have no idea what we're facing. We are mixing a medieval castle with modern technology and I feel like we'll learn that our enemy comes by with plasma cannons instead." Frustrated she placed her head on the table, not looking at anybody. "I don't know how to sort it all, anymore. I worry about you, about attacks, about training, and then I'm expected to pass this year." She lifted a finger. "If I don't get a B in the next test, I'm done for. And I don't even know when to sleep, when should I study?" Shaking her head she sighed, tried to make up for her words. "Apart from that I am alright."

His real name. That is far more interesting than anything you hoped for. It hints at a dark, maybe lonely past with someone who had given him that name. Maybe he had even named himself. Sloane. You repeat it in your head and look at the man sitting next to you. With his dark cloths and and your bright ones, you have to look like a brilliant painting sitting here - a sight you didn't even need to plan. You are drawn to him, to the questions he opens up with his answers, to the observant way he drinks in every little detail. "It's a good name for you." Your eyes move to his shoulder and the scar that is hidden somewhere beneath his cloths and you wonder if any of his previous broken bones still pain him until today. It's possible, depending on whoever treated him and with what kind of means. Thinking about something you could tell him you look back at the fire. You know that he will now see the profile of your face, the way you tilt your head forwards and look into the flames. It's a good image, although you nearly unconciously move your body in an advantageous way, for once not actively trying to impress him. The fire. You could talk about the fire. Now that the thought is here, it doesn't let you go again. There is no need to tell him, you could have gone with something else, something easy and simple. But it's tempting. You will show him your cellar. He will see. So there is no real reason the come up with some lame fact right now. You puff your cigar again, eyes not leaving the fire and hold the smoke in your lungs for a moment before exhaling. Memories of pain flash in front of your eyes, of searing hot flames, of strange tasting potions poured down your throat. You inhale again, try to come up with something else and fail. Somehow, you want him to see. "This is not the body I was born with." You say quietly, still not looing at him.

Yes, there are enough left. Do you want to do that?

Nice.

You finish lighting your cigar and hand the lighter back to Taron. The smoke is rich and spicy and for a moment you do nothing but look into the flames, listen to Sloane sitting beside you. It has been a while since you last received a guest and while you don't admit it, you fear that he will leave as soon as he took a step into your cellar. Tilting your head to the side you observe him for a while feel a spike of excitement when you watch him sit there, puff your cigar. "Most of them have a little bit of truth, deep hidden inside." You reply and hold your cigar over the table to avoid getting ash on your cloths. As usual Taron already placed an ashtray there. "I use them as inspiration, as a treassure of information and possibilities." You smile at him again, hope that the firelight enhances your face in an advantageous way. Firelight is tricky, hard to control. No practice of the world can foresee how the flames will move. "You will see." Your smile widens a little, when you openly tempt him, your fingers tapping your cigar in a wordless addition. Later. Once you are done smoking. "Tell me about yourself." You ask him instead. "Some interesting tidbit."

Hello and welcome to the shard fellow tabletop RPG fan! We've got a rather active role-playing section in this forum as well, if you'd like to take a look.

Here is your rating @bees? Character is approved.
-
No, I preordered the hardcover and that arrived punctually.

You smile at his words, enjoy that he uses your name again and and straighten again. While you walk over to the second armchair you condiser the remaining cigars and finally pick a Robusto. It's smoke is not as thick and heavy as a Churchill's, and you enjoy it's spicy taste and the still thick smoke a lot. Sitting down in the chair you relax and place the box on the table between the two of you. You won't smoke a second one, but given the amount of cigarettes Sloane consumed so far, you suspect he might be interested in a another one later. Looking over to Sloane your eyes rest on his lighter for a moment, before you lean back, lift a hand to Taron. He places a gas-lighter in your hand, the metal cool against your fingers and you flip it open with a quick motion of your thumb. Holding your cigar close to the flame you start warming it up before fully lightning it. The faint smell of tobacco fills the air and you look up at Sloane again. "What do you think of fairytales?" You ask him and settle more comfortably into your chair.

"We considered them, yes - " Shana pointed at some crosses on her improvised map. "But I'm not that sure, how huge of an advantage they will be. Our enemies and walk, fly and teleport - and they are fast. Some of them will reach the house within seconds, and then we will know that they are there." She considered the topic for another while and then added more cameras and movement sensors. "Do you think it's better like that? Then at least we are prepared should they try to sneak up on us and take some time."

hmm... that wasn't really surprising. Alright, I think we should vote against Kindsmile's proposal. I honestly think that it will do more harm than good, and no matter what we vote, we will anger a part of the gods. In that case I would prefer to anger Kindsmile, than our potential allies. Therefore I vote like that: Lower taxes on Breath Sales – Kindsmile [X] For [X] Abstain [X] Against Create an insurance system for Dockworkers – Songbearer [X] For [X] Abstain [X] Against

Lena only gave a slight shrug and then shook her head. "Thank you for your time." She replied to the woman and then looked at her friends. Useless. What a useless great guild. Maybe they could grab some crysts on their way out, but that seemed to be about everything. Slightly frustrated she looked around. The stamp. "Where can we find Erlend?" She inquired, mostly to have a chance to get some information about the stamp as well.

Is there an IC reason, that he refuses to use any weapons besides those that are a part of him?

I've been thinking about our vote on Kindsmile's motion for a while now, and I'm still not sure what to do. He will most likely vote against our and I am not sure, if people will really benefit of the lowered taxes. To me it feels more, like more poor people will be tempted to sell their breath, or the other way round, like more might be pushed into doing this. I don't really know if we should aim for this or not. As Kindsmile is already someone I marked as "opposed to us" I'm not sure if it might cause that much harm, if we vote against, in the end the voting in anonymus. @Wyrmhero Is there a possibility to see if one of those who are against the proposal are offered incentives to change their mind? We don't have an action for tomorrow, so I doubt we can, but I would love to know if Kindsmaile plays fair or not. I figured I could ask if we maybe can sent our priests to keep their ears and eyes open during the night, but I can understand, if not.

Being mind-controlled by a demon in the middle of a forest. I ended up with another mage there, we got separated from the group after freeing the hostage and while they escorted her back the two of us plus my apprentice tried to undo the damage the demon had done. I sent my apprentice for help, but it was a long way back to our camp and so me and the other mage ended up being controlled by the demon quite a while. Was pretty cool, a huge ritual and we worked very well together while summoning that creature fully into our world. (And the faces of the gamemasters when I told them my character's level and that she's really good at that stuff - rare that I've seen someone pale that quickly) (We undid it afterwards and cleaned everything up. But it was great. Usually I only get to use blood magic as an NPC.) Bad convention, with bad game masters, that had a railroaded timeline. No matter what you did, each situation would solve itself at a given time of the day. Sadly, they even talked about their plan while we were washing our dishes, so there wasn't even some element of surprise left... Yes. Sadly. I always bring extra, but there was one convention, where we had several feet water standing on the campsite and additionally I fell into a river. But then everything was wet these five days. Still at least dry feet now and then would have been great

You incline your head a little to indicate that you heard his reply and slowly fill a tumbler with some whiskey for Sloane. Just a little more than a finger, so that the whiskey can breathe before Sloane starts drinking. Turning back to your guest you pick up both glasses and place them on the table between the stools before you fetch the box with the cigars. Usually you would have Taron do this, but you can't resist to stop in front for him, open the box with a fluid motion and hold it out for him to pick one. It leaves you close to him again, just a tad closer than strictly neccessary. "Don't make yourself smaller than you are, Sloane." You finally respond to his last comment, while you wait for him to make his choice. Your eyes glide over his ruffled hair and his eyes, whose colour you still can't decide on. Freed of the shadow of his hat, the flickering fire draws shadows on his face and the room that make it difficult to decide for sure. And yet - they are dark and dark suits him just fine. "A lot of it depends on what you are willing to offer." You go on, your eyes never leaving his face. "I could use your services." you start with repeating the obvious, before you lower your voice a little, enjoying the suspense, the tension in the air. Sloane. you never expected to find such a gem in such a bad tavern. This evening has so much potential, that for once you can't fully control what will happen is alluring, calling you to wade deeper and deeper in this sea words and gestures, if only to know what might happen. "But there are other possibilities as well. Ones that might profit both of us. Ones, that might be more - " you make a deliberate pause before you finish your sentence, "fun."

"Thank you." She smiled at him and handed the reins of Sunny to the stablehand, before turning back to Price. She carefully took hold of the large sword, the weight familiar and she could feel her heart skip a beat when she realized that it really was for her. It was as tall as she was, with a long handle for both of her hands, and while she didn't want to draw it to judge it's balance, she still took a look at a part of the blade and found it well polished and taken-care off. A good blade, a very good one. She grabbed the cloths as well and stepped into the private room, undressed wuickly and neatly folded the cloths she had worn so far. You never knew when she might need them. Still it was a relief to dress in something different again, something will more than one layer and a proper belt to keep everything in place. The pants were made of cotton, not fit for winter, but warm enough for the weather outside and they compared nicely with the tunic. And the paddened vest to wear above. Sagitta fastened the belt and then rebraided her hair, when she felt like discarding all memories of being trapped, of being a prisoner. She wrapped long strips of fabric around her shins to keep the pants close to her legs and pulled the shoes over them, made sure everything was comfortable and then repeated the gesture with her arms. Loose sleeves tended to get in the way and she liked the opportunity to cover her scars. Forget about everything that happened, if only for a few hours. Finally she reached out for the sword again, and then slung it over her shoulder, to wear it on her back. It was too long to be worn comfortably by her side, although she did add the tomahawk and the knife to her belt. Side weapon for shorter distances and you always could make good use of a knife. When she stepped outside again she almost felt like her former self and her eyes fell on Price, frowning as he looked at some list. "Before you tell me, what is wrong with the list, " She started, reached out for his hand and took it in hers. "Let me thank you. You just handed me back my freedom and myself and know that I will do everything I can, to train you the best way possible. When I'm done with you, you will be able to best most of them with the right weapon in your hands." It wasn't much, but it was everything she had.

"Why do you even care?" The young man replied and then shook his head while repeating his shoeing motion. Ophelia stared at him and made no move to walk away and he sighed. "Tamaron. Red warehouse, hard to miss. Down by the docks."

"Planning how to defend our house from the Voidbringers." Shana explained and gestured towards their plan. "If you have any other ideas, tell us. The more the better. "And we might want to write a list of questions for our imprisoned enemy. Maybe we can catch him lying and find the truth out that way."

Sagitta reached out for Sunny's halter and slowly lead the horse out of her box. "She's a beauty." She replied and patted the horse's neck. "I will take care of her." She smiled at the stablehand. "A quick rundown about horsecare would be great. And maybe supplies to do it? Brush her coat and her mane? What about her hooves." The horse thumbed her nose against Sagitta's head and started to munch on her hair. "Uhhhh." Sagitta tried to get her hair out of the animal's teeth and sighed. "We will be good friends, I think." A movement at the other end of the stall caught her eyes. Another scribe, gesturing to Price. Impressed by the efficiency, Sagitta smiled and could feel her excitement spike when she hoped, that this meant that their equipment had arrived. A sword. Sunny resumed to munch on her hair and she sighed. There was a reason she was no cavalry man.

"Yes." Shana added it to her list and when she read it over, she had to laugh. "We're building a fortress." It felt good. To finally do something, to stop being attacked and try to prepare for the Voidbringers. There was no need to wait like a pig to be slaughtered, not when they could prepare and fight back. "We should talk to him. Find out if there's a cure." She waved at Cassie, James and Nym, gestured for them to walk over. "I think we need to discuss it with the others." She suggested. "See if they are alright with that many changes. And we need to work together as well. The two of us can't build it up on our own, but if we work together we can do it." @Ookla the very snazzy @Wyndlerunner @AonEne

Sagittag followed them into the stable and looked around. Pick a horse. She walked around and took a look at each of them. There were different ones, some munching on straw, others watching her attentively. She finally stopped in front of a box, with a horse with gold coat and white mane and tail in it. The horse turned her ears towards her and she tentatively extended her hand towards her. "Hello," she read the sign next to the box, "Sunny." What a stupid name. But it fit the golden coat well. Sunny touched her hand with her nose and Sagitta looked the horse over. She was of a lithe build and seemed nice and quiet. "Can I take her?" She asked and looked at the stablehand. "She seems nice."
