Mid-Range Game 31: Spiritual Warfare
Mailliw73 replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Understandable. Any reason why you picked Steel specifically? I'd like to vote for Kaido @Young Bard. You're typically more talkative, IIRC. Have you been able to check out the thread yet? That's understandable. I'm suspicious of you too, because that's the nature of the game. I figured the ultimate outcome of the discussion would be useful, either way the players decided. I gained some good reads from it, I think. -

I'm just curious, but why do you think we should have a lynch today? I'm not really for or against it right now, just wondering what your take on it is. I have no problem not listing factions, I just had the idea and wanted to start a useful discussion because I've been a part of some C1s where nothing really got accomplished. -

For instance, let's pretend this is what happens: Astrea (Crimsn Wolf) is a Baron and posts this as his faction's list: Astrea (Crimsn Wolf) Mist (Fifth Scholar) Ynoga (xinoehp512) Daan (Kidpen) Venele (Brightness Radiant) Then Ashertma(Devotary) posts a list of the Wildmen: Ashertma (Devotary of Spontaneity) Rena (Elandera) Squid of Sensationalism (Steeldancer) Agri Kai (Walin) Spork (Cadmium Compounder) Mii (Mailliw73) Itiah X (I think I am here) And finally, Alv posts this list as the Children: Diir (Alvron) Straw (Straw (Straw (Straw))) Soul (Droughtdrinker) Flavio (TheMightyLopen) That would leave these people as not being in any gang: A Shqueev (Multiple Shqueeves) Kielan (MetaTerminal) Sheol (ElephantEarwax) SIGN ME UP (Coop772) Rat (Sart) Kaido (Young Bard) This would mean that the Spirits aren't in a gang, because of the original percentages and we'd know that the last list contained all the Independents as well as the Spirits and we could have them all PM someone to prove themselves while the Wildmen work their way through that list and we lynch the others, thus we'd catch the Spirits. Right, I agree, it was just one people had brought up. Alright, I'm still confused. Maybe we just aren't explaining our POVs very well. let me know if the list at the beginnning of this post helps at all. I still am confused on how the Independents being known reveals anything to the Spirits that they wouldn't already know? This makes a good point. Though, to the last point, we have Wildmen who could kill the one we don't lynch, thus making it only one that we'd have hidden. Obviously, that's not good, but since when have these games been easy? I am grateful for all who have shared their thoughts on this idea, even if Sart is the only one who has agreed with me. Part of the reason to bring up this was to start conversation so that we can get better reads on C1. -

Then they add nothing to the Spirits if the Spirits know about them, unless the Spirits aren't in a gang either. IF they aren't then we just narrowed it down immensely. Yes, that would then lump the Independents and the Spirits together and we'd have to go through them to be sure one way or another about them, but the real Independents can start PMs. -

Um. If you're an Independent in a Gang, you won't be outed by this method. My idea is not to out all the Independents; my idea was to have one member of each gang post their gang's player list so that we narrow the rest down to those who are Fully Independent and Spirits. Or, if the Spirits are in the gangs already, then we'll learn that. -

Mailliw73 replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wait. So am I understanding you right in saying that you believe that Raoden and Galladon are in factions(therefore knowing who else is also in those factions) and that you believe that restricting the information about who is in which faction from the thread, we will keep that out of the Spirits' hands? If so, I don't understand. If they're in a faction, they already know who's in that faction. The negatives I see from sharing faction lists are: that the Independents' lose their anonymity(Not a big deal, IMO) If the Spirits are in 2 gangs already, then we confirm exactly who's in the 3rd faction, thus narrowing down the third Faction leader If the Spirits are not in other gangs already, then we narrow down who the faction leaders are for them. (This is the biggest risk, but if this is what happens, we'd also narrow the Spirits' identities down immensely. -

That statement assumes the Spirits aren't already in a gang, which is what my proposed idea will find out for us. No, that hasn't been confirmed. They are confirmed not to have an "Independent" doc. Meaning, the Independents don't all know each other and have a doc together. Whether or not its possible for an Independent to also be in one of the other docs is a PAFO from Joe. -

Mailliw73 replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
What's the problem with this outing the Independents when it'll also be outing the Barons, Wildmen, and Children? It won't be giving the names of each of those factions immediately, but it will shortly after, when one of the people on the lists dies. So I don't see why the Independents lose such an advantage from this. -

Mailliw73 replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
There is likely one player who is in 2 factions who is Village(because of the percentages Joe gave for each faction). But if there is anyone in 2 factions right now, they're almost guaranteed not to be the Spirits. -
Mid-Range Game 31: Spiritual Warfare
Mailliw73 replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yes, but if they're already in other factions, they already have a list of at least one faction, if not two, and can quickly figure out the others. So they'd already have us split into chunks where we currently don't know if that's the case or not. -

Mid-Range Game 31: Spiritual Warfare
Mailliw73 replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Right, and Independents could possibly be in faction docs as well, meaning they wouldn't all be outed. But yes, I agree, most Independents would be made known, but so would everyone else's faction. Your question about Raoden and Galladon starting in factions is exactly why I proposed this idea. We aren't sure and Joe won't clarify So this is one method to find out if the Spirits have already infiltrated our factions or not. If the Spirits started in docs, then they already have the information of who is in each faction and this reveal wouldn't do anything to them. But it would help us see if they are already in our factions or not. That said, I'm open to other ways of finding out if the Spirits are in our factions. -

I've had an idea that I'd like to run past the Elantrians as a whole. We know from the rules that players can be in multiple factions. From my math, that means around 3 players will be for sure in multiple. I'd personally like to know if the Spirits have a chance of being in my faction. My idea is that a member of each faction reveals the list of people in their faction(without sharing which faction it is), so that we have a better idea of if the Spirits are already in our docs or not. What thoughts do you have? -
Welp, there you have it folks. Thanks for that WoB! I did consider LIghtweaver too, actually, just didn't see any artistic inclinations.

I just finished Oathbringer, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't yet found a thread to discuss this in. I loved/hated the scene in Oathbringer at the palace where Kaladin is watching all those he loves fight each other and, in the process, Elhokar is killed. But, right before he is, he begins to swear the first Ideal of the Knights Radiant and begins to be filled with Stormlight. Which order do you believe he'd have become? I've wondered if he was on his way to developing into a Dustbringer or a Willshaper. Obviously, we didn't get to see much of his progression in his order. But what do you think?

Arms stretching, Mii rose from the street. Domi, it was uncomfortable out here. He’d once been normal. Now he was a dirty, hurting immortal being who was going to have to live with this pain forever. Reo, life was torment at this point. Being Hoed was almost better, he thought. They were too crazy to really recognize the pain at that point. Mii scarcely remembered the last two years. It had all been a blur that seemed to go by too fast to keep track. All he knew was that each day he woke up was a day in hell. The life before he’d been tossed in here like trash felt like a dream. Shialla, Eenda, the rest. Figments of his imagination, for all he knew now. The only names that mattered now were Karata, Sheor, and Aanden. Regardless, only those who controlled food mattered. Mii grumbled as he cursed himself for thinking of food. All that ever did was remind him of the pangs in his stomach. Well, he decided, time to try to suck up to one of the gangs and get some more food to last another couple days. Maybe this Spirit guy he had begun to hear of would be more open to new recruits. Mii wandered off, leaving his sleeping place, ready for some action in his life. These two years had been too quiet. -

I'm in as Mii. I second the question about the percentages... -
I believe Rubix said this in the Reckoners RP before. Also, this is likely my last post on the Shard for two years! I'll see you guys in a while!
-
Thanks! I'll miss you guys too. I'll still technically be around till tomorrow afternoon, but I figured I could post now. Thank you guys for everything. This RP has been a blast and has helped my writing grow a ton! You guys are awesome, keep it up! Just a list of where my characters are going: Altermind-Coma Edgerunner-Twi Chimera-Cog Everyone else is up for adoption I believe. Twi is in charge of handling that if there are issues with taking them up. Flashpoint and Electro are the only major ones left I believe.

Mailliw73 replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thanks for that writeup send off, Joe! That was great! This will be my last post here. I'll see you in two years. Best of luck to the Citizens. In response to Ada's post from last night: Unless you played QF8, I have played or GMd every game. It was definitely still fun to be on a team with you and I'm sure I'd enjoy it still as we've both changed since I said that.- 1559 replies

Well you didn't tell me what it was called. I could guess Gyorn again, but I just went with a generic title to be safe.- 1559 replies

The other 5% might not be. Also, should you wish to learn what the Jeskeri do, I have informed the Neutral roles of that. You will have to convince them to side with the village, at least enough to tell you about the Jeskeri. Thanks for the fun time guys! I needed one last throwback to my old games. Have fun.- 1559 replies

I knew you'd get it. That ones up to Orlok. Its too bad I'm not the Shadows. I'm the Storm. Batman all the way. It involved some...unrepeatable actions. A bit of death, some blood, a touch of evil. The works. I'm glad. Thank you. I look forward to returning to hear of your legacy.- 1559 replies
