Long Game 51: A Traitor in the Obligators
Mailliw73 replied to Straw's topic in Sanderson Elimination
To continue from last day, @Ookla the Gambler @Ookla the Libre @Amanuensis and anyone else who hasn't posted much(I'm tired and these were the only ones to pop to my mind right now), please do. I also am wondering if anyone else has had any thoughts on revealing their roles? Or if anyone has received any PMs along the lines that Alv suggested? -

No death. Not surprising. @Ookla of Light I thought conversions came last in the OoA according to the rules? -

*shrug* well I guess you can vote for me tomorrow then. Edit: @Alvron‘s point. The problem waiting is that it also allows more of a chance for the soother/rioter/seeker to be converted and we’d miss all the reveals. Like he said though, up to each of you. -

Just because it's night doesn't mean we have to stop talking... @Ookla the Lumgol @Coop772 @Ookla the Gambler @Amanuensis @Ookla the Walinevitable @Ookla the Libre FIrstly, Hello there! Most of you haven't posted if I remember correctly (and I may not have) or have only posted once. Just wanted to ping you to remind you about this. Secondly, my suspicions as of now are Araris, CadCom, and Rath. All are minor suspicions and just based on gut feeling for now, but if I had to lean towards anyone right now, I'd probably pick one of these three. -

Oh... That'd have been useful to know. I assumed the two vote minimum was still around. Edit: And apparently, votes weren't manipulated unless they hit only Smokers. -

Probably Thugs too, but this will give us something to go off of. Right now, the discussion is lacking. I know it's Day 1, but if we don't start now, we will be behind. I feel it's more useful to vote, preferably for someone who isn't voted for yet, that we can have the soothers and rioters begin to check you. Right now, there's only three of us that Soothers can check. I don't think we need an actual lynch, but we need the information and there's only a little under 4 hours left. Edit: Ninja'd by Alv and he said what I wanted to say, but better. -
Long Game 51: A Traitor in the Obligators

It isn't the main purpose, sure. But it is a purpose that aids with the search for eliminators. I'm a huge fan of playing lots of IKYKs with the eliminators, which is part of why I agree with sharing plans in thread because the eliminator can never be sure what we are going to do and we have to outguess each other. We also have to share information with each other. If we don't, we will lose. In that spirit, I'd like to submit to the Ministry that we begin to share Allomantic powers here, forcing the Seer into a corner concerning conversions. Thoughts? -

I disagree. Publicly discussing plans helps us to flesh out weak ones and remove ones that won’t work. It also gives us ways to read people and further the overall search. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend we stop talking about plans in thread; that’s a big chunk of what it’s for. -

I'm not saying that we shouldn't have the emotional Allomancers be obvious with it, I'm just saying that no one of such talents has yet claimed and I'm not sure they will. I'm all for public role reveals (Obviously ). Soothers, Rioters, where ya at? -

This plan won’t make public any role confirmations, not really. But it will help those involved in the manipulation begin to verify people. Any soothers and rioters can know for sure if someone they try to manipulate us a coppercloud, though the rest of us won’t know. If a rioter doesn’t want to reveal themselves they can be tricky with the rioting, but if they’d like to claim themselves, then they can leave it obvious too. This wasn’t meant to make roles public, there isn’t an easy way to do that. Someone has to go public with their own role first. I’m not sure about people canceling the votes right above them. It can work and it’s as good a plan as any, but if they want to verify certain people they could do that too. If I were in a position to verify others, I’d probably prefer to choose my own targets. But I don’t have a problem with manipulators doing what you suggest. -
Long Game 51: A Traitor in the Obligators

“My fellow Obligators, various Cantons though we may represent, we are united today in one cause: finding this traitor among us,” Prelan Matarn Wachtrot made a point of glaring at the fringes of the crowd of tattooed, bald Obligators. “We seek to uphold the Lord Ruler and this Final Empire. ”We have sworn an oath in the presence of the Lord Ruler, Inquistors, and the Lord Prelan to serve with our might. I exhort you to cast your mind upon the day you swore such an oath. Remember the power of the moment. Remember your loyalty. “We have need of this loyalty in these times. Fierce, undying, and overpowering. Politics must be put aside for this cause.” Matarn scanned the crowd, seeing those he had sent letters to. They had been responsive, but the unification of the Ministry he sought had not yet been achieved in any measure. Some would hate him for this, he knew. But this was for the Empire. “I will be the first to put aside my own past conflicts and my prejudices. The cause of the Steel Ministry is the penultimate cause of humanity. For that, I will set aside all I have. To begin the process of cross-Canton unification, I will strip myself bare to you all. I have been granted the gift of copper burning, commmonly known as ‘Smoking’. I swear to use this to the aid of our search and trust you all to do your best as well. I encourage those gifted with brass to attempt now to dampen my emotions that I may show you my honesty. Those with zinc would be better served inspecting others today.” Matarn knew that no traitor, rich as he may be, could sway him to betray his Lord. If some power were to force him to leave his oaths, he knew his prominence as prelan and his announcement would garner him all suspicion and he may even leave a trail to the traitor himself. -

For me, this time I’m suggesting a no vote. We each vote for one person and then soothers soothe and Rioters riot to no vote, since Straw just confirmed that. And yes, it’ll only prove the rioters and soother’s alignments this cycle and they will have confirmation on Smokers for this cycle, but we’ll know that those people aren’t the Seer, which is the first priority right now. -

Adding to what the 5th Obligator has said, it’s day one and there’s only one traitor. Our chances of lynching them are slim. But, we should provide soothers and rioters with ample opportunity to check our roles. I suggest we each vote for a different person playing, resulting in no lynch, so that soothers and rioters can go about their business immediately as well as be positive that their attempted manipulation failed or succeeded. For that reason only, I will vote Alv because I want to be the first to do it. Edit: @Ookla of Light can rioters move a vote to a no vote? -

Important Notice Please Read: Fellow Obligators of the Steel Ministry, This notice is to confirm to you of the presence of a thief and a traitor among us. He has robbed the stores of atium and is believed to be able to burn it. He has been pronounced dangerous and manipulative. Please inform your superiors of any information that may lead to the capture or death of this traitor. We know you have the best of desires for the Empire at heart and ask for your aid in this inquisition. May the Lord Ruler guide us. ~Prelan Matarn Wachtrot Canton of Inquisition -

I believe Morningtide's article now has all the information on her that we have. -
For some reason, if i had to pick any girl in the cosmere, it’d probably be Siri. Don’t ask why, I just find her and maybe Marasi probably the only female characters of Brandon that I’m attracted to. For guys, I LOVE Kelsier. I want Secret History 2 more than anything. Dalinar, Elend, Spook, and Kal are the other top dudes for me.

Alright, alright. I’ve been looking for a simpler game to play and this looks perfect. I love the Seer twist too, is that new to this game or has it been done since I’ve been gone? I’ll join as Matarn Wachtrot, from the northern dominance. As a personal favor, can everyone post their normal usernames when they sign up at least? These ooklas confuse me. -
Thanks! I'm working on further ideas of what exactly I want to tell, so I'll keep you updated. I really like that one too. There are monsters in the forest. I reached my tainted palm out to his, Mama’s voice ringing in my mind. If there was danger in the forest, this thing was probably it. But I couldn’t stop. Something pulled me towards it–him?, dangerous but familiar. Then I noticed the taint in his skin too. I was revulsed, but couldn’t stop. He spoke as our fingers brushed. “So long, it’s been so long. They taught you not to embrace the joy of the forest, of course, that’s just like them.” “What? Who are you?” I asked. “Oh, daughter. You’ve forgotten me this time?” he asked, voice tight like vines in Mama’s garden. “Come.” He pulled me deeper into the shadowy forest. Never go to the forest alone. Everything Mama had taught me screamed to pull away. But something deeper, darker, whispered to go forward. The taint spread faster. My shoulder was fully bark, no pale skin to see. Tendrils of timber stretched towards my chest. We stopped at the edge of a pond, black in the midnight dark. Trees grasped for the night sky, creaking and swaying, crowding the water. “Go.” Don’t go past the Yanuji bushes, there’s danger. My fingers trembled. “Why?” “You’ll remember soon, sapling.” He pushed. I didn’t resist. The momentum started me toward the pond. Quicker. Soon I was running, legs stiffening to wood. Twigs branched from my body. The water lay inches away. Then my feet splashed into it. Ecstasy roared through my body as roots on my ankles slurped up the water. Images flashed. Times, places, people. Memories. Trees turning to human shapes. Tree-people fighting the people of a village. My village. A time of silence in the forest. Me, sap-blood leaking from a wound in my gut. And me, reborn, stolen by Mama from the outskirts of the forest. The vision stopped. I didn’t need to look down to know that my entire body had finally embraced the darkwood that had been a long time coming. Power coursed in my veins like sap and I knew I couldn’t be cut down this time. I smiled, breathing in the rich smell of growth in the pure air. “Asholli, welcome home.” I turned to my father, my real father, and grinned. This was going to be the best fight of my life. There are monsters in the forest. And the monster was me.

I'm not sure. I like the challenge of keeping myself to a small word count and forcing myself to leave a lot to the imagination and just refining it bit by bit. But now that I've written it, I have more stories to tell about this world. Consequences of being an epic fantasy reader I guess. Thank you so much!!! New Version: There are monsters in the forest. @TwiLyghtSansSparkles Thanks again for the feedback! I have been swamped with school, so I haven't made any edits in the past few weeks, but I do want to get back to this eventually. Hopefully next week, I'll have more time. I also wanted to let you know that, thanks to your help, this won an honorable mention and will be published in the magazine. Thanks!!
