@Ale the Metallic Conjurer Preservation's plan depended on Rashek being dumb and greedy with the power. He had to work with what he had to achieve his ends. A smarter person wouldn't have just started swatting a planet around in space like a toddler in a bounce house. When Saze grabbed the power, one of his first thoughts was basically "I don't know what I'm doing". That is the reaction of a smart person. Also, SA spoilers. @Trusk'our The thing is, in a society of super beings, there isn't any reason for anyone to be a "ruler". No one has any needs. There aren't any resources to horde or control. These would be people that could survive in any environment with nothing but a few flakes of metal. Their society would effectively be Elantris. Every thousand years they could just use the Well to stockpile metal and then go back to living their own lives. In my opinion, Rashek's greed for power is a symptom of his lack of intellect. @alder24 The Terris people wouldn't have existed in my hypothetical. There would have been six males and females all chosen by Rashek. The only other people after that point would be their offspring, and only the ones that were Fullborn. There wouldn't be anyone to overthrow because there wouldn't have been a government. Just a small group of equals. No argument that he would be consigning the normal people of the planet to death, but frankly what he ended up doing to them probably wasn't much better. If I have to choose between death or death+suffering, I'll probably choose the former. I'm not familiar with this, could you link a source? My understanding was that the Inquisitors killing all of the Feruchemists is what lead to the suppression of those genes. Also there isn't a need for more generations, the first one is immortal and has no limit on it's fertility. Perhaps their descendants will be unable to breed true, but that wouldn't matter if the originals are still around. Rashek's negative traits are, in my opinion, symptoms of how dumb he was. edit: It's also worth noting that Rashek's actions still resulted in the death of almost everyone on the planet. They just had to suffer for a 1000 years first.

Silly or Serious Feruchemical Powers
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Steel Speedster's topic in Mistborn
Flatulence. The ability to store/tap farts. Likely the atium/cadmium alloy. Tangibility. Store to become less interactive with physical objects. Tap to prevent other things from phasing through you. Can't phase through aluminum. Also, while intangible you will just fall into the ground because gravity still works. It's basically like being in Scadrial's Cognitive realm. Probably atium/iron alloy. -
He's as dumb as a rock. Dumber in fact. He could have given the other Lerasium beads to Ferruchemists and repopulated Scadrial with a race of Fullborns. Imagne the look on the rest of the Cosmere's face when they decided one planet wasn't enough.

How would a Full Feruchemist with all metals fight?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Trusk'our's topic in Mistborn
F-steel is really all you need. If you can move faster than thought, you auto win every fight. Everything else is just gravy. -
Elantrian vs. Radiant. [SA 5 spoilers]
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Elantrian wins unless the Radiant is a Bondsmith. Elantrians can do anything a normal Radiant can do and then some. A Bondsmith can remove and/or steal an Elantrians powers. -
Crackpot theories after finishing The Lost Metal
SwordNimiForPresident replied to AleStaar's topic in Mistborn
We still don't know what happened to Spook after he stepped down from being "The Lord Mistborn". Last we saw of him was a Mistborn with a pile of Inquistitor spikes and Kelsier encouraging him to use them. Seems quite possible that he created the bands. -
Which Twinborn do you think is most useful?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@Speeding Steelrunner@alder24 Could be. Just seems odd that it could be so important given that, as it is described, it is a less convenient form of A-duralumin. Maybe it's important because of compounding? I feel like the "foundation" that he mentions Era 2 establishing in that WoB is F-nicrosil though. It seems like it is probably going to be fairly important going forward. -
Which Twinborn do you think is most useful?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Maybe. Though I do think he meant nicrosil ferring rather than misting. There’s not a ton of depth to a nicroburst’s powers where as a soulbearer has implications for the entire cosmere. -
Kaladin for starters. I really disliked how whiny he was in early books. Like I get it, he was going through some stuff, but his reaction to it always felt so "my life is harder than everyone else's" when, in reality, the things that happened to him pale in comparison to a lot of other characters. I feel like in RoW he is still struggling, but he isn't such a whiner about it. He is also recognizing the struggle other people are going through, and he is acknowledging all of the people that are trying to help him in RoW, which I think is a huge improvement on his character. I hope when he swears the 5th Oath it has something to do with realizing that fighting isn't the only way to protect people.

[SA5] What Will Happen to Dalinar?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Forts Board's topic in Stormlight Archive
Looking at state of the Sanderson from 2023 it looks like it's Mistborn and Elantris all the way down. List only goes out to 2030 though so there's that. -
Which Twinborn do you think is most useful?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@Trusk'our Interesting that it swapped from misting to ferring. Ferring makes more sense given the far more versatile ability it grants. Those are still pretty old WoB's too, so who knows what it will be by the time he gets around to writing it. -
[SA5] A somewhat unheard of Kaladin ship
SwordNimiForPresident replied to BlueWildRye's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is a cool theory that is made more plausible by the whole Szeth-Shinovar-Nightblood connection. That being said I think Kaladin will end up with Syl. I mean, they already love each other about as much as it is possible to love someone. Seems natural to me. -

SwordNimiForPresident replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Dang, those are from forever ago. Wonder if his plans have changed at all. I don't think Era 2 was even a twinkle in his eye at that point was it? Or rather, I think that was supposed to be Era 2 and he hadn't thought up Wax and Wayne yet. -
Which Twinborn do you think is most useful?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Not sure where they were getting their info, but I remember it being said that Era 3's main character was supposed to be a female Terris nicrosil compounder. Can't remember where or when I read that, so take it with a healthy dose of skepticism. -
Which Twinborn do you think is most useful?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I never meant to imply that it would be fast or easy, but the path exists. If you put forth a concerted effort you could reasonably acquire most of the metallic arts. We've only seen a few types of medallions, but it stands to reason that they would make some for each power that they have access to. Getting your hands on one for even a second would mean permanently gaining the abilities it holds. It's also worth noting that at some point you would be able to make a commodity of your powers because you would be able to produce unkeyed metalmind on demand. This would drastically increase your earning potential and give you access to more resources. I could easily see the southern Scadrians offering you access to medallions in exchange for making more of them. As a side note, A-gold is far from useless. Just ask Miles hundred lives. As a side side note, I expect that this combination of powers would also draw the attention of several powerful groups on Scadrial, the Ghostbloods and Harmony to be specific. Either of these groups would almost certainly help you expand your access to abilities in the furtherance of their causes. -

SwordNimiForPresident replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
You should be able to take a little power from a medallion and compound it into unlimited (or at least limited by how much nicrosil you can get your hands on) Allomantic and Feruchemical abilities. Compounding would be important because it would mean you only needed to acquire each ability once. -
Theory: Riina is Shaor
SwordNimiForPresident replied to SwordNimiForPresident's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Fair enough. Thanks for sifting through the WoB’s for me. -

How am I the only one that picked Nicrosil? It is literally a path to being Fullborn. -

Why is nobody commenting on this in Tress?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Firesong's topic in Tress of the Emerald Sea
Would a Singer look like a lizard to a non Rosharan? Form dependent obviously. -
I don't have any direct evidence to support this, it was just a feeling I had while re-reading Elantris today. I realized that Shaor's father, Duke Telrii, uses Aon Rii in his name and I saw a connection. When the wildmen change loyalties to Raoden, they present him with Shaor's wig, but we never find out if she actually died. It seems entirely possible that she joined the Hoed for a time but was restored when Raoden fixed Elantris. Raoden described her as being the worst, and that fits pretty well with what we know about Riina. Was curious if anyone had any more insight on this that might point in one direction or the other.

Is Whimsys intent the opposite of harmony?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Sythrin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If we're voting, I choose Cultivation. Cultivation is about ordering things where Whimsy is about chaos. Another way to put it is, Cultivation is about doing something for a reason where Whimsy is about doing something for no reason. -
Everyone seems to be choosing powers based on how well they would do in combat. That seems like a mistake to me. Personally I'd go for Connection and Transformation. Those are two of the most powerful Surges in my opinion. Not because of what they can do in combat, but because of how they can reshape the world both physically and spiritually. You would also be a master of all three realms. Transformation presumably lets you realmatically transition into the Cognitive realm, and Connection lets you look into the Spiritual. You can transform pretty much anything into anything else, and you can rearange Investiture and Connection. I can only imagine how juiced Transformation would be with a bump from Connection. You could probably Soulcast entire cities at will. Add in the fact that you also get Stormlight's passive healing and Shardplate, and you are a fairly formidable combatant as well.
