  1. Ahhh, I had thought prismatic light to be 9th Heightening. I'm going off memory as I don't have the book in front of me anymore, so I apologize for misinformation. Still I see an inconsistency, Susebron' s Awakening turned his place white, and left some area black. White is unsuitable for Awakening, so it's not as if there's more color left over for Awakening. Really I see Metal Command as the 10th Heightening and the rest is awe factor.
  2. True, but Awakening (except Lifeless) in general doesn't 'cost' any Breath. Perhaps what I should have said is attaining in place of cost. I gotta disagree here. That essentially means that there is no 10th Heightening, as there is no measurable effects besides the color disolvment. As we see individual's Breath increase, they have noticeably increased ability to note color differentiation, and auditory cues. This plateaus at the (3rd/4th?) Heightening with Perfect Pitch. This is an ability. Perhaps I'm dense, but I don't see how sucking more color up has any benefit. Using grey and black for Awakening is another matter entirely.
  3. Why would electroplating shield a weapon from Alomantic Pushes? Shardlet and I are just bouncing ideas off one another, since there's no canon on it.
  4. Then in theory TLR should have sheathed his Bracers in Aluminum then as a safe guard against Inquisitors tampering. It would only take a needlepoint of Atium touching him on the inside to access the whole storage.
  5. Maybe so. Ehhh it is so. But I'm biased against something solved so easily by a clowns string of scarves, but costs 10,000+ breaths.
  6. I hadn't heard that Ferrings were a result of mixing Alomantic genes. Why would TLR stamp out Keepers if interbreeding would weaken it in the long run. I mean the possibility of a Compounder arising is one thing, but d even a whole mass of Twinborns wouldn't hold a candle to the threat of a Keeper, from an Empiracle view. TLR held the power of Preservation unchecked and fiddled with human genetics, so I don't think he was ignorant of this.
  7. I can see that working, but I think you would need a Shardic level of power to affect Aluminum. I don't think even Savants would be able to affect it without some kind of Hemalurgy in the mix. On a side note, do you think Aluminum piecings would make it more difficult to Push the Aluminum? Do the effects stack additionally, multiplicity or exponentially? Or not at all? If Vin is capable of ripping Bracers out, would she be an able to affect Aluminum then?
  8. I don't think the earring is needed for the the warehouse s scene though. Not only should it have next to no Charge, Mistfeed allows for the burning of metal, with no metal. Unless you're implying that the next to no Charge stamped his Spirit Web with the ability to burn Pewter and Harmony just pumped it from there?
  9. Iagree that the Heightenings, particularly at the latter levels, seem to empower Awakeners. Which is why the 10th (ty for the correction) strikes me as very odd. Unless it's for recycling/redyeing purposes, and even then really?, this seems extremely out of place for the (theoretically) most powerful Heightening.
  10. Alright I like the ideas Capn' Kurk. They match up with my own if I understand that post correctly. I also agree that there is a minimum baseline of Breath for complex Awakening. I was trying to illustrate that an unskilled Awakener will use more Breath than the absolute minimum by having to impart/infuse more energy (Breath) into motivating that cognition. Hmm. The color draining portion of that Thread got me thinking though, why does the 9th b Heightening cause white color draining?
  11. *Clicks on thread* "This isn't so bad..." *opens spoiler tags* *falls off chair*
  12. You make a point about General knowledge in the populace. In AoL we see that Allowmancy in general is being toyed with to figure out new methods to counteract the Metal Arts. So it's it possible? Without direct evidence to the contrary, I'd have to say yes. The knowledge we possess its based on Ars Arcanum and POV both of which have proven faulty before. So I have to look into Harmony's capabilities. And now that I think about it, I have to say yes due to the events at the end of HoA. Harmony couldn't have managed that if he wasn't capable of moving Aluminum. And per Vin' s Ascension, a Shard can empower an individual. Soooo, I have to reverse my opinion to say yes, Shardlet.
  13. Preservation, maybe. Ruin, doubtful. Harmony, also doubtful. I don't see the rules of Allowmancy being violated in HoA, just empowered to the 10th degree. Aluminum is totally Allowmantically unreactive. Ruin can't even see metal, so my gut feeling is no.
  14. They were piecing his skin, so that in itself should have prevented anyone from blowing them off. Vin only managed it with the Mists
  15. Is it not possible that the bracers were alloyed for practical purposes? The guy lived for a thousand years not all metals would last for that long. Atium supposedly breaks down in the stomach pretty quickly.
  16. Reverse Compounding is similar to Compounding. In Compounding you Fill you're metal then burn the metal and receive a 10x burst. TLR knew a method where he could take the return from Compounding and fuel his Allowmancy with it. I like the Nicrosil idea, but we just don't know enough about Nicrosil Investiture yet for me to get behind it. Up vote though
  17. I can't imagine that being able to C compound Gold has anything to do with lifespan (Miles), but rather that Hemalurgy is responsible for the lifespan. After Inquisitors would be dead of not for Hemalurgy.
  18. throwing it out there, but one of the interludes actually does involve the matter of changing the characteristics of flame spren. So it's certainly possible to alter the nature of a Nahel bond. On a separate note Windrunner is into something about the idea of KR representing different facets of Honor.
  19. True, Im of the opinion the Order names were based off of Surges used by the KR (which includes Soul-casting). So Wind Runners could be considered a firm of shorthand. Like a Pewter arm is a burner of Pewter. Essences though, eh. Thinking of the chart with the Essences in the back and crystals and body parts gives me the impression that stuff is going to be much more important shortly. Thanks for the feedback everybody. I think Mad-rand and King of Nowhere might be into something
  20. I can't find a series distinction between the Surges/Essences/Orders either, they're more like synonyms IMO. What are your thoughts Phantom ?
  21. Just a thought, Dalinar mentions that he and Adolin are trained in Wind stance. He also mentions in one of his visions about switching to Smoke stance. He also remarks that Adolin' s opponent in a duel was using Rock stance. Is it possible that the stances reflect orders of the Knights Radiant? Wind Runners (Wind stance) Stone Wards (Rock stance)?
  22. Can you be specific as to which gems? The surgeons spheres are never mentioned as being dun (I believe). Jasnah has gems run out but only during Soul-casting. Which makes sense since Surge Binding uses the Stormlight
  23. I love watching how these threads dissolve into and evolve into convoluted ideas.
  24. My apologies then for not editing the OP. I'm not fully conversant with etiquette on the forum. I'm not attacking you Hoser, I had the impression that there was a typo in your post, hence my confusion. If you have information conflicting with my ideas, by all means poke holes in my Theories. I'm not omniscient and I'm not offended by debate. As for your idea for Urithuru location in the northern hemisphere. Distinctly possible. With a southern portion of the continent reportedly being being very cold, and the Purelake being warm enough to never need a shirt. Considering the eraticness of the seasons though I don't think an Earth like orbit likely. BTW Rosanne reference made me lol
  25. Don't misunderstand, it doesn't have to be the same perversion. Shardlet says it pretty well. Ruin can have his thing. Odium can trust things his way through division
