  1. She attempted to kill her master, but failed.
  2. This character is a servant of sorts.
  3. @Tesh, thanks! If you want the full 1920x1080 version, you can download it from my DeviantArt page (the link is in the album description)
  4. I think for now, I'll sign up to be a spectator. I'm not entirely sure how much time I'll have, so me being a spectator won't cause any problems. Thanks! It looks like a ton of fun. @Droughtbringer, I'll have to look into the discord group. Thanks!
  5. I've never done one of these before, but I'm interested. Is it complicated, or fairly easy for a newcomer? (I am familiar with Mafia, just never played in forum format.) Would it be best to observe first?
  6. This has always been one of my favorites, from The Final Empire: Or there's this gem from Hoid in WoK that might be pretty applicable for graduating:

  11. I've always found the Horneater language to be very Hawaiian/Pacific Islander. Those languages tend to have only one sound per letter, and nearly every letter is pronounced. It's very phonetic.
  12. This is my life. I have very little time to actually sit and read, and a lot of time driving. So I started listening to audiobooks. But with the Cosmere especially, I have no idea how anyone's names are spelled (unless I read at least some of the book).
  13. Honestly, she keeps huge secrets from herself! I'm rereading WoK now, and was struck by a line that went vaguely like "she didn't like thinking about things that made her uncomfortable." All I could think was 'understatement of the year.' And as for the wedding, it was rushed enough I completely forgot it happened until I came across this post. I like the pairing, and the marriage does set up some interesting character conflicts (internal and external) for future books. Shallan and Adolin will both have to figure out how involved they are in the other's work.
  14. Here's what's in Coppermind's article about Siri.
  15. I was always struck by Sanderson's ability to create such unique magic systems, then describe them in a way that makes them real and sensible. A lot of other books with magic I've read tend to be more like "He did this thing, and stuff happened. It was cool. Really." As a reader, I can tell Sanderson spent a lot of time on the small details of the system, really coming up with a way to make it work. That translates easily to writing, especially if you have characters that are learning it themselves.
  16. Are the Manyhearts surgically or magically placed? If magically, maybe it needs to be outside the body in order to recharge (solar maybe?). That doesn't work though if you have to do surgery every time. Taking out the Manyheart would remove the abilities from the protagonist, and possibly make it difficult to access in a pinch.
  17. My user name came from a MMO video game years ago (I think the first one I used it on was WoW, maybe Perfect World). I used to just keyslam when picking a name, then adjust it make it sound better. I really liked this one, so I've stuck with it for several years over several platforms.
  18. I was introduced to Brandon Sanderson's works through an ex-boyfriend-of-sorts. We both had a love of fantasy, and he recommended the Mistborn series as a place to start. Though we ended before I made it through the trilogy, I fell in love with the books. I found other friends who also read Sanderson's works, and they encouraged me to delve further into the Cosmere. From Mistborn, I moved on to Way of Kings, Warbreaker, Elantris, and so on. It helped I bought a whole stack of his books at one time because of a book signing a few years ago in Idaho Falls.
  19. Elsecaller. I never would have pegged me as that, until I read the description. It actually fits quite well. Good quiz!
