  1. So I've been trying to think about what perspectives we are going to get as the series goes on. I remember reading somewhere that Brandon said all of the prologues are going to be from the night of the assassination, but different views. So here's my theory of who we will get, not in order though. 1 - Szeth (WoK) 2 - Jasnah (WoR) 3 - Elhokar - he just makes sense to me since we are getting Jasnah and he is the son of Gavilar. 4- Navani - again, just makes sense to me since it was her husband that got killed. 5 - Aesudan - wife of Elhokar 6 - the Parshendi - we have to see from their perspective why they did it right? But I think this would be one of the last ones, maybe even book 9. 7 - Gavilar - this one seems bound to happen to but I would think it would be the last one we get. 8- Sadeas - he seems to be caught up in a lot of scheming so I would think he was up to something that night 9 - Amaram 10 - ?? I can't figure out who would be the last one, maybe Hoid, but we have no evidence that I know of that would place him at the feast. Maybe Taravangain, but again no evidence to say he was there. Am I missing some else that would be obvious? Thoughts?
  2. Do we know when the WoR tour will be announced? I am seeing B&N starting to sell signed copies of WoR and I am trying to figure out if I should order one or not.
  3. 1 - pass (will edit when I think some) 2- No 3 - No
  4. I don't agree with this one. We are know the list has 12 names on it and Szeth gives us 8 of them, 6 High Princes (I personally think from Jah Keved since we don't hear about the Alethi princes being killed), the King and a gerontarch. We don't know where the Selay gerontarch is from, but I think it is somewhere near Jah Keved, either near the pure lake or Thaylenah (Probably Thaylenah since Selay and Thaylen can kinda go to together). All of Szeth's targets seem to be in a similar geographic area. So I think that there are multiple assassins in white. This could then strike fear if he is getting people in large distances from each other and no one will know if they are next. The Primes are in Azir so it just doesn't fit Szeth's assignments in my opinion.
  5. Which signing?
  6. Did they say someone in white? I need to read it again
  7. I personally think the Crytics are more related to cultivation because they still dwell in the cognitive realm. And Wyndle seemed very familiar with them. I think you are right that someone having something to hide or some great truth buried deep down could be what attracts them. It seems like each order has some dominating factor that gets the spren to notice you. I don't like chalking everything bad to Odium either, but I think when it comes to this it just makes sense and would be a clever tactic. I don't think the memory thing is direct effect of Odium, but it could be an unanticipated concequence that helps him more. If the spren are cut off from their shard then they lose more and more of their function as time goes on, and it could be that Cultivation's spren keep their memories because she brought them into the cognitive realm, whereas Honor could not save his and they were trapped.
  8. WoB?
  9. I didn't want to hijack the other thread, but do you guys and gals think that the Prime's deaths may be part of the list Szeth was given? In WoK pg 451 of the hardback it says: I don't think that Szeth was giving an entire list, just some of the ones that really stood out to him, but it doesn't seem his style to be hanging around killing successor after successor. Do yall think we may see another assassin from this group?
  10. yep, gotta be Shalash in that one.
  11. I concur Especially since we were posting this at about the same time. I think that Odium went after Honor and his spren for one of two reasons. a - Honor spren are linked to more powerful orders of the KR and thus he feels more threatened by them. b - Odium knew that taking out Honor would in effect take out Cultivation because she would stop caring, whereas if he took out Cultivation, Honor would still fight and possibly fight harder.
  12. I vote creationspren. I like it
  13. I had to stop reading and show my wife this bit (she's a 2nd grade teacher) I think that was one of my favorite parts
  14. How do we know they are the crablike things?
  15. I think it depends on if the spren are more related to Cultivation or Honor. Though it is pure speculation I think that is why Ym's spren and Syl don't remember much (they are from honor who has died) and Wyndle is from Cultivation who is still alive but does has lost interest since Honor's death. I think the Ring is a group of her spren that is trying to hold things together until she gets her stuff together. I know it doesn't have much to support it, but it's my gut feeling in this.
  16. So I haven't seen any posts on this about what we found out with the steelhunt material. I don't know about yall, but I thought Lift's stuff was amazing. Anyone have any new theories from it? I know these two lines got me thinking: But anyone else?
  17. I don't think Kaladin is going to take a shardblade. I wish I could give a reference to this, but in an Idaho Falls signing before I found 17th Shard, right after WoK came out I asked Brandon if there are other Shard weapons besides just blades and he said yes. I think Kaladin is going to always turn down shard blades until a shard spear is found. I could see him disarming Szeth though.
  18. The spoilers are there, but the chart from Seattle has MUCH more information and seems to be ok right now. Look in the stalkings board. Edit: to just put it up somewhere else, here is the chart. It was obtained from Karao though. So all credit goes to them.
  19. I don't think it's increasing strength. Like you said, it doesn't seem to fit. But if you increase the surface tension you increase how much damage it can take and how resilient it is. I think that is what fits with Dalinar in that scene. If he increases his surface tension with his environment then it's a lot harder to hurt him and he is able to draw strength from what is around him. Just my own theory though
  20. well the surface tension aspect of Stonewards resurrects my theory that Dalinar is a Stoneward. Very nice chart
  21. whoops, ok removed the banned stuff
  22. So I've been gone a long while and I had some time so I thought I would catch up on things. I don't have a steelhunt code. I've read that we learn more about a KR order, but don't know much beyond that. Looking around online I found a recent interview that I haven't seen discussed on here, if I'm wrong sorry for the double posting of it. The interview is [removed] What I've seen of KR charts is listing Skybreakers as the top center (gold) symbol. But in this Brandon says they moved it to the purple symbol on the right. So barrowing from their chart afterwards and making changes that I think makes sense I came up with this. I wanted to get some thoughts on it. Edit: removed banned stuff
  23. I agree. The WoT ones were done much better. If something was done online from the start instead of weeks going by with nothing, I think no one would be complaining. The fan base is just too large to not have something online with a limited tour, and I understand he tours a lot and he could want a change of speed to have more family time and more time to write, but someone had to realize they needed an online element to this from the start to keep the fans from getting upset. I really don't want to complain because God knows we are treated better by Brandon (faster and better books, more tour appearances, facebook updates, etc) than about any fantasy fan base (Jordan, GRRM, etc). I do appreciate all he does for us, but I think it also needs to be said that the Steelhunt has been handled poorly because he seems to like the idea of doing this, and I hope team Sanderson can learn from it for future book releases.
  24. So I've had the past couple days off work and been thinking some and doing a little bit of rereading. I don't know if this has been suggested by anyone, but I haven't seen it so I thought I'd voice some thoughts I've been having. My theory is that the story Hoid told Kaladin starting on page 800 is actually more significant than it seems. I think that Kaladin will more than likely become the head of the new KR order (which will be another uproar when Dalinar follows him), and it will be his job to lead them correctly. The basics of the story that I got was there was a city that had a king and began to take his rulings to extremes and justified it as the kings wishes, but the king as dead and really they were responsible for the bad things they did. To me the Heralds were the heads of the different orders of the KR, and then they suddenly disappeared. I think the KR did well for a while, but then were corrupted and the heads of the KR all justified it as carrying out what the Heralds, and thus Honor, wanted to happen. I think this is what lead to what Dalinar saw with the KR abandoning their armor and duties. The order had become corrupt enough that the non-leadership decided it was better to leave the life than serve. On page 646 we read "The tariffs through Urithiru were growing quite unreasonable. By then, the so-called Radiants had already begun to show their true nature." To me this is showing some kind of a subtle shift from what they did in the past, and it was getting out of control by the time the author wrote that. Granted the author clearly has an anti-KR bias, but it still shows something was going on. So in a nutshell, I think Hoid told Kaladin the story because he knows what Kaladin will do, and he needs to learn to be responsible for what he does, not to do something because he things it is what a higher power wants, or even what the KR did before. He needs to do what is right and no do evil things because some king/herald wants him to do so. Thoughts?
  25. Or if you really wanna be crazy, maybe this is a thing about Hoid. As in he is the one that caused Adonalsium to come apart and is trying to put him back together, but has found it more difficult than he thought it would be. I know it sounds crazy, but to my knowledge we just know Hoid was there at the shattering and is trying to do something with the Shards now that we tend to assume is toward good. Brandon has done a pretty good job making bad guys creative and surprising, maybe Hoid is the biggest surprise because he realized after he caused the shattering how much bad he had done and is now trying to fix it.
