  1. So are we talking like 'put the book down and return it to the library' moments, or just 'lemme put the book down and go cry in the corner for a good 15 minutes' moments? Cuz I got both.
  2. Warbreaker isn't my favorite Cosmere work (needs a sequel in my opinion), but every bit more we hear about the Warbreaker Leatherbound makes me salivate. I kind of need it in my life. Also, @NattyBo I have had my Leatherbound TFE approaching on a year now, and it's one of the Jewels of my bookshelf. Exterior and interior work is just stunning, and I think it functions as the definitive edition of TFE.
  3. Alright James, keep your cool. keep your cool he told himself mentally to no avail. "Do you have no heart!?" James burst out "You know what we dealt with in there!" And just like that, the long fuse on James's temper finally burned out. "Ben can hardly walk for the Almighty's sake!" his voice rose slightly, gaining in intensity "Show some empathy for once in your life! Perhaps then, you'd understand why we need this!" in the heat of his rant, James had hardly noticed that he had begun shaking from emotion, a feeling now become all the more strong and apparent after his finishing remarks. He left Luther standing there, as he strode intently to his room, as hot rage cooled into cold disdain.
  4. Just finished watching this show. Sweet mercy was it a beautiful adaptation. I went in thinking that David Tennant was going to be the MVP, but Michael Sheen's Aziriphale really stole the show for me. It was almost perfectly true to the book- although I wish they had included Aziriphale's antique misprint Bibles. Congratulations David Mckinnon! y'all really nailed it.
  5. James sighed, "I think our emotional wellbeing as a whole outweighs the schedule right now" he shook his head regretfully, "I don't think anyone left unscathed"
  6. James entered the room. "I understand that you want to be prepared, Luther" he said, with a level expression, placing a hand on his shoulder. "But we all had a rough night. Give them a day, I think we all need it." he requested
  7. Ok, so I've been putting my abstract thought to the test, and I think that each cover represents a different character. TFE: Vin. We see the stained glass window shattering into the night, likely referring to Vin 'breaking' noble society from within. It's not Kelsier, breaking in, it's Vin breaking out. WoA: Elend. He is represented by the bead of Lerasium in the middle, the lines of steelsight symbolizing his gaining of Allomantic abilities in the climax of that novel. The white ceramic shattering, represents Elend's loss of idealism throughout the events of the story, effectively showcasing the effect of reality upon idealistic thought. HoA: This one is pretty obvious, Marsh/Ruin. The central spike, stabbed through the altar, represents Marsh himself, the spike burning representing either Marsh breaking free of Ruin, or as Ruin eroding Marsh's free will. The burning ashes are likely both representative of Ruin as a force, and of the burnings in Urteau. But those are just my interpretations
  8. "Ok, cool." James said "See you around!" he said smiling.
  9. As someone who hasn't ever been particularly fond of any Era 1 covers outside of the leatherbounds, I like these- particularly the one for TFE and the one for HoA. But then again, I like abstract things.
  10. James shuffled his feet, entirely unsure of what to say next. "likewise" he said, awkwardly.
  11. I tend to agree with Daniel Greene's opinions on most things, but I don't go to him for Brandon content (That's what Shardcast is for, I go to him for WoT stuff. Is Brandon overhyped? Maybe, for some people who overhype him for themselves- but that's not on Brandon. Brandon happens to be I think, the best Fantasy author working today in sheer terms of productivity and creativity.
  12. James breathed an inward sigh of relief. "Cool" he responded. Cool! his brain screamed, Is that the best you can come up with!? "I think this could be a good chance to get to know you" he added. Well The Nightwatcher noted, That went better than I thought it would. I was sure you'd faint of nerves. Thanks for the vote of confidence James shot back sarcastically
  13. This idea works. That terrifies me. Don't hurt my Dalinar! or my Navani for that matter! *begins sobbing uncontrollably because I get too emotionally attached to fictional characters*
  14. James breathed in deeply. Just gotta say it he thought to himself, Point of no return has been crossed. "Well," James said, "I was wondering if you wanted to go to the prom with me?" he asked. He shuffled his feet, as a blush began to rise in his cheeks, "I know we don't know each other super well yet," he continued, "but you seem really nice, and the kind of person I would enjoy going to a dance with" @Taradiddle
  15. After they shook hands, James looked over at Sawyer, waved, and said "Welcome back, Sawyer!" He walked over to offer to help her with her things, "Actually," he said, "It's kinda fortuitous, that you came back, 'cause I've been meaning to ask you something..." @Taradiddle
  16. ooh, that's a good one... I also have thought of Rand's nasty habit of burning women's names into his soul as working well with 'Hellfire' (Written as Balefire of course)
  17. Thanks guys... The fact that this topic exists is yet another reason I love the Shard. Y'all are my fandom family
  18. James blushed a deep red. "No relation" he said, grinning.
  19. Any of you just have those days where you're in a funk about the state of society in general, and about the difficulty of keeping true to your moral code in a world that just doesn't seem to care anymore? I'm having that right now
