  1. There are definitely some components that I can now see on these that match up to components found in other glyphs. (Like the ever-present "R" candidate in the top-right, and a certain swoopy bit in the one below that which appears in both your glyph and in the WoR ketek.) I'll still hold that "memorized, not read" doesn't discount our approach; after all, that's what we began with. Glyphs aren't words, but there are phonetic aspects in them. I think what we see here is that all the Highprince glyphs clearly have a single line down the middle; that might be a non-phonetic glyph component. Also, this reminds me, I need to print off large copies of all our glyphs and bring a small whiteboard with me to my signing. See if there's anyone at the signing who can add a fresh perspective. (Well, besides Brandon, of course.)
  2. Moved to Oathbringer Spoilers. Welcome to the Shard! Can you clarify exactly which Surges you identify with Honor, and which ones you put with Cultivation? I do not see how any of them are "surges of emotion"; they all appear to me as natural forces.
  3. @Kanrei and @yurisses, done and done.
  4. Not gonna lie, I am. Some of us have been too busy making sure stuff was in before release, so we haven't had a chance to read what everyone else was adding. (Like all those Release Parties.) Now that the site's live and OB is almost here, it's time for a break!
  5. Tags have not been applied completely to all entries yet, but that is in process. Until general editing has been implemented (which is being worked on now), you can make suggestions for adding tags to specific entries in the following thread:
  6. They are pretty much all in the events linked above, which had new audio. The only other rare ones I can think of would be in social media, which each have their own yearly event. (There are some especially good TWG bits, if I do say so myself.)
  7. Of all the WoBs to show as an example, you picked that one?
  8. It hasn't been released yet, and the site is still password-protected. Watch for the big announcement in a few hours.
  9. Transcribing and reviewing of WoBs is an ongoing process, which we want everyone to be able to help out with. At the moment, there is no functionality in Arcanum to support that. It is coming, and it is the highest development priority. But until then, this is the place to suggest corrections you see that need to be made to WoBs. Here are some of the sorts of things you might find: You're listening to a snippet, and you discover a mistake in the entry it is attached to. You notice that a WoB needs clarification, or has been superseded, and thus needs a footnote. You know who the Speaker is, but they are not attributed. You feel a relevant tag has not been added to the entry. So, if you find any of those, feel free to post them here for the moment. The format that would best make sure your corrections can be properly implemented is: Link Existing Text, in a quote box (if you're changing the WoB itself) Revised Text, in quote box (highlighting the portions that you have made changes on) New tags So, for example, if I'm suggesting a transcription change, I would put something like: But, on the other hand, if you're just adding tags, you don't need to include the full body of the WoB: So, please post any specific corrections here for the time being. Thanks in advance for all your help - our team of Arcanists has been working very hard on getting some of these transcriptions in, and I'll be the first to admit that I've probably made some mistakes along the way. Your assistance will be essential to making Arcanum the best collection of information it can be.
  10. He didn't give any more info. I would expect Tor to link it, but it might be hosted by audible or something.
  11. The first interludes appear at the end of Part 1, which is where we just got to. So, it might not be the first interlude after Chapter 32, but it will be in that batch.
  12. Peter is over on Discord right now, and he just shared that on Monday, there will be one last preview, an audiobook one. It will be "one of the first interludes in the book, one that Brandon has not read at a signing."
  13. Based on that Part 1 ending, I'm wondering if Jasnah is our Tertiary Character 3.
  14. Voidlight: Confirmed. Gavilar's sphere doesn't hold an Unmade; it's the blackish-purple Investiture that the Fused were using. I don't see how anyone can still think it holds an Unmade. Good Yellow Spren: Disproven. There's no way that good guy spren would be working with the Fused. The Fused: Interesting that two of them have a Form of Power with Lashings. I wonder if they have a second Surge, or if they just have gravitation? I don't think every Form of Power is tied to a Surge or a Radiant Order; Stormform doesn't do anything that would match with a Surge. Oh, and the name "the Fused" must mean that they have bonded, or fused, with a Voidspren. Where the other Listeners don't have an actual bond, they're just following orders. Gloryspren: Was it just a funny image of Syl bashing away the gloryspren? Or is there a Radiant spren like them? Windspren: That is an ability I don't think we've seen any hints of. Although, maybe there were some hints of it in recent art (Jezrien has a bunch of windspren spinning around him, one of the dudes in the Oathgate map might be doing the same thing). Unmade: Shallan's musings match the line from Rlain about them being people once. Could it be a Vessel of a Splinter? Or is it something more like Hemalurgy, where an existing spiritweb has been manipulated (not necessarily through the practice of Hemalurgy) to remove intelligence and create something inhuman?
  15. We do not know for sure. We know that the Dragonsteel series, the story of the Shattering, is set on Yolen (barring some twist where all the characters worldhop somewhere halfway through). But we also know Adonalsium created Roshar, so he was by no means limited to the Yolish system. So, that's a good question that we will most likely have to wait a long time to get answered.
  16. The standalone also includes Lift's interlude from Words of Radiance.
  17. Content from the Unfettered chapters is not allowed outside of the spoiler board. We apologize for the information making its way into the Coppermind. Those responsible have been sacked.
  18. I assume it's referencing the revised ending of WoR, similar to how George Lucas changed the events that happened in the cantina in Star Wars.
  19. Moved to Cosmere Theories. @CaptainRyan, please use the Report button to notify mods if you find a topic in the wrong subforum. That way, no matter who's online, they will get notified immediately. That sounds vaguely reminiscent of the Iriali doctrine of The One. Do you tie that anywhere into your theory? One thing that has always puzzled me about the time before the Shattering of Adonalsium was that there were apparently gods before Adonlasium. Brandon recently released some chapters from his unpublished book Dragonsteel, which was the first part of a series that would tell the story of the Shattering (and has Wit as a character). The chapters that were released were the original draft of the Bridge Four sequence, which Brandon repurposed in Way of Kings... but they mention 'gods' in the Spiritual Realm in there. Some chapters from another unpublished book, The Liar of Partinel (also a part of the Dragonsteel sequence, this one a prequel), has a legend about dead gods. That all goes to show, there is much we don't know about the histories of Wit and of Adonalsium, so I'm very hesitant to speculate as to motives. We've seen Wit collecting pieces of Investiture (he has Breath, he has Allomancy, he tried to become an Elantrian), so you would need to explain how that fits in with the motivation behind the Shattering. But your idea seems as valid as any others I've seen. Welcome to the Shard, and by all means, feel free to contribute with more ideas you have!
  20. Thanks for looking into that, @Gilly. We have a dedicated thread for the Release Party; you should definitely share that info there, as well.
  21. It is not in Theoryland. This one, I pulled from Arcanum (which will be launching publically within a week). Theoryland doesn't have anything from this past year; I (and several others, actually) had taken to maintaining personal databases for recent stuff, since situations like this had been arising more and more frequently. But that will all be abated with the new archive coming out.
  22. From Boksone, back in February:
  23. There are some beta readers who have been chomping at the bit to discuss, so I expect the OB spoiler board will light up at 12:01 AM on the 14th.
  24. Please keep all Oathbringer discussion in the Oathbringer spoiler board. Also, I have removed the second picture, since it showed some of the text that has not been released yet. The first picture is fine, though.
