  1. I'll be bringing House War and my copies of the RPG books. I've only had one chance to play House War, and I'd like to get some mileage out of it, so I'll be setting up shop in the Open Gaming room for pretty much all of Friday. Saturday Night, I'll only have them out if I miss the boat on the MTG draft. But I'm down for a Sunday afternoon session, as well, whether more House War or a MAG adventure. I'll try and have a mission ready to run. As far as recording goes, I'll be at most of Brandon's events, so I'll have the recorder running for everything but Brandon's 4:00 Friday panel (Writing Sequels and Series) and his 11:30 Sunday panel (Learn From My Mistakes). But if anyone's planning on going to those, and wants to take my recorder, just hit me up in PMs or Discord. Or track me down in person. You'll be able to recognize me by my profile pic - I'll have a 2-inch physical version of it hanging from my lanyard. By all means, feel free to interrupt and introduce yourself if you see me, no matter what I may be doing at the time.
  2. The post-WoR go-to topic for glyph analysis was this one: After Oathbringer, a new topic popped up in the spoiler board: They're both long reads, but good ones.
  3. We actually already have a topic like this, which, funnily enough, started off with a Kel/Kal matchup as well. (And that's how they knew they had entered... the Twilight Zone.) Topic closed.
  4. The big caveat with Arcanum for the moment is that pre-WoR stuff hasn't all been transferred over yet. If you definitely remember it, and you didn't see it in Arcanum, you can check Theoryland; they have all the earlier stuff.

  7. Over on Arcanum, you can find over 200 instances of Brandon speaking about his inspirations. There's a tag for them: https://wob.coppermind.net/adv_search/?tags=inspirations Off the top of my head, there is a lot of Arabic and Hebrew influence on the Alethi language in Stormlight, although I'm not sure to what extent there are any cultural connections beyond that. I don't know if there is any direct African influence thus far, although Brandon was trying to intentionally invert some colonialism-related themes in White Sand. So, you might find some interesting parallels if you go looking for them.
  8. Brandon will not be at GenCon this year, unfortunately:
  9. Oathbringer Spoilers:
  10. I think the original Cosmere outline can give us some clues: Source. Based on that, and assuming that all 16 Shards are accounted for somewhere in the above outline, here are my suspicions: Since we've already had hints of the Aethers as a canonicical magic, I think we'll get at least one Shard on that world. Silverlight, as an important place, might have a Shard with it as well. The final Mistborn trilogy, set among the stars, might be another place to meet new Shards on new worlds, although that will be quite a long wait for us to actually see them. And there's always the possibility that some Shards didn't make it off Yolen, and that we'll see some of them only in Dragonsteel. (Or if the final Mistborn trilogy takes us to Yolen, as well.) He didn't say there are ten worlds with Shards on them, but that there are ten worlds that are core to the Cosmere story. Here's the full quote: Source. That doesn't preclude multiple planets in a system as each being one of these ten core worlds - I count all three in the Roshar system. I also count Threnody, since it does have significant Shardic influence. (Definitely with the Shades; potentially with whatever the Evil is, and if Nazh's laser gun from BoM is Threnodite in origin.) With the world of Aether, that gives me a full list of 10. But you're right, taking a different approach could leave quite a few important worlds still yet to be revealed. Like I suggested above, there could be some major worlds that don't come into play until Mistborn Era 4, the space opera. Unless Brandon answers more definitively, I'm afraid it's something we'll never know for sure until the last book is published.
  11. If you want to hear Brandon pronounce it, we've got it on a recording over in Arcanum: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/175/#e8411
  12. Just a reminder to everyone, Oathbringer spoilers are not currently allowed in this subforum. I know it's tough, but them's the rules. Anyone whose posts I had to hide can feel free to make a new topic in Cosmere Theories for the subject, though.
  13. Where do you see him in White Sand? I only have the draft version, and I don't see his name anywhere.
  14. What's "April Fools"?
  15. Topic merged per OP request. (No, I am not doing it in verse.)
  16. There was a recent change to the order form to limit the number of extravagant personalization requests that Brandon was getting. You can still put a question in the Comments box, and Brandon will answer it. There's a thread about the subject over in the Events & Signings forum.
  17. I'm going. Who else is?

u/mistborn is indeed Brandon himself. He's remarkably active on Reddit; he's done a couple big AMAs, and he posted some very interesting updates while writing Stormlight 3.
  19. Secret Project has gotta be a Magic: The Gathering story. They kicked off the lore for their latest expansion today:
  20. Oh, hey, I've heard of BIONICLE. Followed it from the second comic, joined the online community during the Voya Nui era. I spent some time working on BS01 (lost all my edits in the big '07 crash, but a good chunk of the Kanohi pages format was mine) and BZP (got myself one of the first Key to Nongu awards for piecing together info on Icarax from the Mahri serials). Every so often, I pull out my reboot fabric idea and noodle around with it a bit. Favorite Kanohi has gotta be the Miru. (Don't be fooled by the profile pic. The Kakama fits my username better, but Lewa's always been my top Toa.)
  21. The "Copy" button, in the top-right, will put the WoB onto your clipboard. It doesn't take tags or date, but I think it grabs everything else.
  22. I'll redirect you to our hand-dandy Aether of Night request topic, where if you leave a post you will receive a PM with the full text of the book. Since Aether spoilers are not allowed outside the Aether sub-forum, I'll close this topic, and redirect you to seek your answers there.
  23. Merged with the main meme thread.
  24. Just a preemptive reminder from the mods. It is OK to revive old topics, but make sure you're observing the spoiler policy for any Oathbringer discussion. This thread is not tagged for OB discussion, but it is in the Cosmere Theories board, which means you may discuss it as long as you place it in a spoiler box. Oathbringer Spoilers:
