For ‘protect’ I did a bit of a simpler drawing this time, something about the end of the Seven Day War, where the Canton of Combat was one of the only places protected from the thermonuclear explosions because of their massive dome shields, and so could be used as an evacuation shelter. “I remember that Alleyzon robbery,” he said, smiling. His smile stuffed somewhat when he remembered all of the skeletons he’d left in the main lobby. “I wonder if the old crew would be down to do another job together, like you said. It would be fun. Though I heard Maq left to do his own thing, so maybe not him.”

Wes watched from behind the woman who stepped in front of him, glad she was there to defend him, she definitely seemed more powerful than Wes. And taller. And more confident. And... pale in complexion. Blinking Wes looked up again and it was none other than the Righthand in front of him, combating the beast by soulcasting the air into some corrosive substance. The Righthand! Well, ever since the Triarchy there really was no ‘Leader’ and therefore no ‘Righthand’ either, but old habits died hard. All was going well, or what ‘well’ meant when one was fighting against a giant cave worm, all until Wes saw a familiar figure move towards the worm. The lady who’d given him the pen, hadn’t joked to him and told him stories about the DA. In one swift motion she was swallowed whole and Wes’ hands went to his mouth, tried to stifle any screams of horror that would annoy the Righthand. She was dead. All it had taken was a moment. “Miss?” Wes said quietly, tapping the Righthand on the shoulder. “I have... a couple bendalloyminds. I don’t know if they’d be useful, but, they might be, do you think so?” His voice broke halfway through the sentence due to nervousness, and he winced.

“I don’t know about more weapons,” Alask said. It seemed they’d also be dropping weapons right into the hands of criminals. “But I like the idea of stealing a more specialised fabrial. A Cohesion Fabrial? They can literally put together chunks of rock and house like they were never destroyed. Or, maybe a special kind of Epic Motivator? It’ll be hard to get our hands on any of these things, they’re powerful and expensive tools.” He grinned. “But I’m sure we’ll be able to figure it out.”

Wes held the envelope tight in his hands. He was in his dormitory room, and he held onto the envelope tightly for two reasons. The first reason was because he did not want to loose the envelope to the heavy breeze that was blowing through the Did now his dorm-mates had left open, and the second reason was because he knew for a fact this wasn’t an overdue notice on his books, which meant someone had cared about Wes enough to actually write a letter to him. His first real mail in years and he was excited. Opening the envelope he read the letter inside, short and sweet, from Mike: Wes closed the letter, and couldn’t stop himself from beaming the biggest smile he’d ever beamed. Mike believed in him. That was great. Mike believed in him, thought he was great and brilliant and the best, believed in him when Wes didn’t believe in himself. Reading the other parts of the letter he remembered the invitation he’d been given a couple days ago, for the Ghostblood awards night. Wes didn’t know whether he was special for getting the invite or whether it was standard procedure. Wes wanted to write back, right now, but he didn’t have a pen or paper so he was just content with just reading the letter over again a couple times, before hugging it and wondering where he could find a suitable place on the wall, maybe next to his bed, to frame it.

non-canon Challenge of Champions! Wes vs. Deteca
I think I am here. replied to I think I am here.'s topic in The Alleyverse
“I am prepared for all attacks, from any direction, like a 360 degree GoPro.” Wes remembered the iconic line from the movie he’d been watching earlier (which totally wasn’t being paid for product placement, he thought) as he considered all possibilities of what Deteca could do. Well, he considered all possibilities except for the one where she just plain yeeted () the pistol at him. Yelping Wes stepped back and tripped over, dropping into the sand but ducking before the gun could hit him, flopping onto the sand beside him. Scrambling over he grabbed the gun, flipping off both safeties. He stood up and pointed the barrel towards Deteca. Taking a deep breath before firing all of the bullets in her general direction, not caring for aiming. Some bullets missed, some bullets could have not, Wes didn’t pay attention as he emptied the magazine.- 83 replies

“Old briefcase?” Alask asked, but nodded to the rest of her words. She was right, the guilds only did something if they got something out of it. Same with the Forge, really. But while Lena got a place for her and Mart to stay out of arrangement, why was Alask trying to help the slums? What he get from trying to help out the ruined community, spending sleepless nights trying to ward off criminals? He didn’t know. A place to belong, maybe. “But what would we steal?” He said, taking a bite out of the chocolate bar. It was good. “The Scholar’s Guild woman already said she was going to go and get a Soulcaster for us. What else do we need?”

Nice character. It’s good that you didn’t add too many strengths beyond being a Mistborn, as that already brings the point value of the character pretty close to the limit, but provided you properly RP the ‘no training’ part of her weakness (eg. That means she wouldn’t be able to tell metals apart when seeking, or have finesse in emotional Allomancy etc.) then it should be good. Approved , and I can add it to the character list if you want. If you want more feedback on it, I’d suggest posting your character sheet in this thread. Sure, Thraskiss is approved, and I’ll add them both to the list. As a clarifying question, how does his second knack work? Is it something like X-ray vision? Approved, and I’ll add it to the list

Something emerged from the pool. A glowing, serpentine creature - no, it was more like a worm. Wes watched passively as it surged forward, ate a few people. Some people were yelling, for some reason? Wes thought the ridges and movements of the creature oddly mesmerising, to be honest. Perfectly, peaceful, just like the rest of this cavern. “It’s Soothing us!” Someone yelled, a woman and Wes frowned. The worm was Soothing him? But that didn’t make sense. How could an animal Sooth him? And yet, when he observed his own feelings, he found he was strangely calm. He’d been stressed with a lot of things lately. The Ghostbloods. The caves. Whatever was lurking in the caves. It seemed he’d gotten his answer, but he wasn’t feeling scared or worried, though... that creature had killed people. And as it splashed and moved with a grossly erratic pace, the slow, creeping terror began to set in, like a paining sensation coming back to life as the anaesthesia faded off. Wes slowly felt his eyes widen, his mind fighting off the foreign force invading it. “Oh, storms!” He screamed as he ran backwards, towards where everyone else was, realising how wrongly he’d been perceiving the whole situation. If the worm had focused his attention on him, he’d have been gone. And - oh, rusts, - those men really were dead. Already, and some people had been eaten. Growing pale, Wes wrapped his cloak around himself and watched the creature he attacked by some of the braver ACE employees.

non-canon Challenge of Champions! Wes vs. Deteca

“Aha! You for fell for my dirt attack!” He said as he tried to grab the gun but failed; she was holding it too tightly. So he quickly flipped the safety back on, and in addition flipped the frame safety on too, hopefully she wouldn’t know how to turn that one back on. Taking off his bracer he finally threw it at her head in an amazing technique he’d seen in the KickBoxer 2: Rise of the Super Kick video-game he used to play.- 83 replies

“I think so,” Alask said, and stood up from the - admittedly very comfortable - chair. It was a nice soft thing, a fortunate break from the run down furniture where they lived. He walked over to the door, and looked back at Aln. “Thank you for your help,” he said. “And if you need anything from the Forge, then you know where to contact us.” And with that he cast a glance to the other people in the room before exiting, glad to have the cool breeze back again after a while stuck indoors. “So,” he said, looking to Lena. “That didn’t really go as well as I’d thought it would.”

And I was the family pet with an existential crisis/Sorana’s twin. Now that we’re reviving it, I still don’t really know how to describe myself (and that reminds me, Ookla season is coming up!)

The basement was sparse, which made it easy to search for clues once Marcel had turned the lights on. The cheaply-bought tube lights hummed and flickered before casting their glow on the wide room - if you could call a concrete box a room. The lights created sharp shadows of Marcel figure as he wandered to one of the main features of the dwelling, a large shelf that covered the wall. Many cardboard boxes of different sizes laid across its length. Taking a look in one, Marcel quickly retracted his hand as a cockroach crawled out. Insects. He hated insects. Looking into the box he just saw a lot of old clothes. The other boxes had similar items, old belongings and some carried working tools, more than usual for a man to carry. Had Christopher been some sort of mechanic, or did he just have a hobby of tinkering? If he was the latter, there was certainly no trace left of his antics, so Marcel closed the box and continued. The cockroaches were getting out of hand. As Marcel disturbed more boxes more crawled out, all over the walls, floor and ceiling. There was no way he would get any work done with all of them around. Taking out a stamp made from animal bone, Marcel carefully began scribing again. He needed an Attractor sigil, a complicated one to create for Marcel it was no problem. Not nearly as hard as creating Skeletals. Marcel cursed. Those bone abominations required too much skill to make, an intimate understanding of bloodsealing and on top of that, a lack of morals. Creating one required expertise in almost every other sigil, weaving them together in one terrifying product. It explained why his site was so good at creating them. Finishing the seal, Marcel slammed it into one of the cockroaches, coating the bone in splotchy patches of its blood. Picking an empty spot on the wall, Marcel pressed the bloodseal deep, creating raised ridges from the Investiture. It flowed briefly, and almost instantly cockroaches from all around the entire room began flocking to the sigil. The Attractor bloodseal attracted a creature to a specific blood marking, provided it was the same blood type or creature. The pull was normally minimal, but for the cockroaches it was enough to have them all crowd around one spot in particular, not bothering Marcel anymore. Cockroaches dealt with, Marcel continued to search the basement. It almost seemed there was nothing here until he found the secret room. Wait, what?

The cavern was nice. Relaxing, even. The luminous flora, that bathed them all in a soft light. If the whole cave system was like this, Wes couldn’t imagine why he’d been so nervous earlier. There didn’t even seem to be any hint of danger, at least in this entry point. But, of course, Wes knew it wouldn’t be peaceful the whole way. The first expedition had to have gotten lost somehow. The thought hung over him like a looming shadow. He noticed the other Wes walking towards him and he waved back with a smile, took a few steps towards her himself. “Hi,” he said. “Did you see that new guy?” pointing his thumb backwards at where he’d gone. “I think he’s new, like, completely new to the Alleyverse. Can you imagine? Well, he’s in for a surprise when he reaches the surface.” Wes looked back. The man had been recruited, hadn’t he? That meant he was going on the expedition with them. “If he returns,” he added quietly.

Cheh nodded. Then shook his head, snapping himself away from thought. “I think you should explain to us more about why you brought us here, to help you? Some sort of prophecy? Now that we’re not really in danger of being killed or obliterated, I think it’s best to tell us now before we’re thrust into danger again.”- 502 replies
