There are a couple that I would want more but if I had to choose one that would match me best, it would probably be Preservation
-
I don't think there is confirmation on whether for sure she is or not. But we can infer that she is. She Cultivated Dalinar seemingly perfectly and played Odium for a fool in OB. Personally I think she's on a comparable level as Preservation based on her Intent. Considering we know how good Preservation was, that's saying something. I'm not sure which of the two would be better though. To properly keep something preserved you need to plan for all the things that can affect it and to cultivate something you need to under how it will grow. Both are extensive.

Do you have a source? The only WoB I could find related to it was RAFOd. Mistborn burning metals (other than Copper) haven't been shown to be any more immune than anyone else and they are the most Invested people on Scadrial on average. Also there is this Mark Lindberg (paraphrased) Would emotion spren react in any way if a Rioter or Soother were operating in the area? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Yes, you would be able to see that sort of change if you were paying attention. If it can affect Spren who are made out of Investiture (Also, Steel and Iron Allomancy affect Atium which is made out of Investiture) then it would take a decent amount of Investiture to block Soothing. What I'm bringing up with the Abrasion thought I had is something that is a power, something that could be used without needing tons of Investiture, something more efficient.
-
I think Sel will eventually become an entity along the lines of the Stormfather.
-
Just having Investiture doesn't protect you from all Investiture, Soothing/Rioting working on Invested people is proof of that. Standard Investiture interference seems to be more centered on physical manipulation than anything else.
-
Just a random thought to pop up in my head. So we know that Surges have aspects to them that go beyond the Physical Realm into the other Realms as per Dalinar's usage of Adhesion shows. The thought I had was, could an ability of Abrasion make other powers "slide" off of them? Basically make them untouchable to other powers? What are your thoughts?

Except as I pointed out before in this Thread, it wasn't against just 7 Radiants. The Thaylen city guard also was participating. That wasn't anywhere near as small of a force protecting Thaylen city as 7 Radiants. And a big reason that they were even able to do as well as they did was because Amaram's troops had the weakness of a keystone in the form of The Thrill and they had access to all the Stormlight they could possibly want.
-
I would say he could, there are several aspects of data input and transfer that aren't part of the metal and he would be able to affect any of those
-
Except it isn't just the Lashing itself that drains Stormlight. Also, I would like a reference or example that shows that they get more efficient as they swear oaths. I must have missed a WoB or there isn't on on it and if you compare the first fight between Kaladin and Szeth I don't think that that is a valid comparison as at the time of the first fightKaladin didn't really properly know how to use Stormlight.
-
And a force of probably a 1000 Radiants wouldn't be outnumbered by magnitudes? Also, using modern Skybreakers as an example, most Radiants likely weren't fully realized. Compound that problem with the fact that the majority of them weren't warriors means they weren't as effective as you think
-
@Pathfinder and do we know how much Stormlight a Lashing takes? Certainly less than it takes to Soulcast. Also how long did each of those Lashings last? Seconds?
-
@Bigmikey357 You keep making the assumption that the Radiants will have an infinite supply of Stormlight to do every little thing. In Oathbringer, 10 Radiants weren't enough to handle Amaram's troops and the Parshmen alone. Also, as I've said repeatedly, we haven't seen any case that they could do anything on the scale you keeps saying. To clarify, while they were able to distract the armies. It wasn't until Teft showed up with 2,000 Kholin soldiers, Rock killed Amaram, and Dalinar trapped the Nergaoul that the battle really turned around.

why is aluminum resistant to investiture?
StanLemon replied to Kalaksbreath's topic in Cosmere Discussion
As far as aluminum goes though, I think it's something along the lines of mercury. A material that has just the right composition to let it be something special but still natural -
why is aluminum resistant to investiture?
StanLemon replied to Kalaksbreath's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think that the latter is a simpler way to explain it but I doubt that it's the case. The reason is because of Taravangian. He is an example of someone who has had an expansion of the mind when he made the diagram but Odium was surprised he could make something as complex as the diagram without Fortune. I personally think that Fortune is a trait that let's your mind navigate the connections in the SR like what happened to Kelsier. He got a glimpse into the SR and came up with a plan even though he wasn't aware of the specifics -
Well, to be fair it did have a decent population for the survivable area.....unit Ruin was freed

I personally don't think plate would for a couple of reasons. Emotional Allomancy still affects invested individuals and the only things we know that block it are Copperclouds and Aluminum. The argument can be made that the Investiture of a fully Invested "living" Shardplate could have an Investiture interference but that's something I doubt. We've seen emotional Allomancy clearly affect Invested individuals and Invested objects interfering with each other and powers so far has only been shown to apply in cases of physical manipulation.

They could probably develop some of the most amazing technological feats in Cosmere history with what the Surges and Fabrials could do. Probably comparable to what the potential of Elantrians could achieve. I agree Urithiru is an example, but it's probably just the tip of the iceberg

@GilphonThat is a wonderful breakdown. Just wanted to give you props -
Why do we Reread Sanderson so much
StanLemon replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I very much do. I love looking for all the foreshadowing and subtle character interactions I missed before. One I like is near the beginning of Mistborn, well before you learn about Feruchemy there is a line when Kelsier is thinking about something Gemmel said to him. "You can't change your weight, you're an Allomancer not some northern mystic" -
Not quite sure about this, remember TLR had used his armies to conquer his entire world True, but not too great for reasons I've pointed out Yes, Soulcasting does have an edge. The downside is it uses their Stormlight reserves to do so, while canned food can just sit Maybe, but I doubt it. Remember, this is Roshar 2,000 years before the books. Admittedly the Radiants had advantages the rest of Roshar lacked.

@Calderis I understand your perspective on this thread, and book references go two ways. For me the book explains clear as day how the supercharge works when he opens the Perpendicularity. The simplest explanation for his supercharge of Kaladin is using the same mechanics as the Perpendicularity. Especially because the WoB on the matter is worthless. I don't view it as a distortion, just the most likely reasoning. I hadn't seen your reply to Oltux's comment before I posted, it must have happened while I was typing. That's why that was repeated. Frankly though I'm losing my ability to see any point of this thread. As you, me, RShara, and others have explained, TLR makes the whole war almost a certain victory for Scadrial based on the conditions given by the OP.

They are described as being almost weightless by people who train with swords and yes the Bridge crew was surprised that it had weight to it but it still wasn't described as heavy. But as swords aren't very useful against even light metal armor, a sword that ways less would be less effective and the size of it would even help disperse the impact if there isn't enough weight to it.
-
A 6 foot long sword with almost no weight behind it, at that point it would be better for Radiant to just punch. Do we? We know they get an increase in how they can use their Surges and gain Shardblades and Plate but I don't recall anything that says or shows that they get a power boost, increase of Stormlight usage, or less Stormlight leakage.
-
Chapter 119 is very explicit that the reason for the overcharge is because the Three Realms become one and they can draw Stormlight directly from the Spiritual Realm. That only happens during a Perpendicularity or direct empowerment from a Shard based on what we know. There is nothing stopping the reason for Dalinar supercharging Kaladin being that he opened the Perpendicularity again and that frankly makes the most sense because Brandon basically contradicted himself in the WoB that it's a thing Bondsmith's can do. But for the sake of argument, let's say any Bondsmith can Supercharge a Radiant (the book clearly states Sphere recharging was new so I'm not giving that concession). As Oltux72 pointed out, there are only 3 Bondsmiths and it exhausted Dalinar to charge just Kaladin. That would mean 3 and only 3 Radiants at a time would become Supercharged. A pretty easy pattern to learn, I wonder how long it would take for TLR to us F-Steel to slaughter the 3 Bondsmiths.
