The issue, and it's one I'm not sure if Brandon has considered and it's definitly one the fandom doesn't fully appreciate. Growing up on a planet with lower gravity would make the average person physically weaker. So a Scadrian would be inherently stronger than a Rosharan. At less than 3/4 gravity, that would have a significant impact on their strength. Also, it doesn't matter how much stronger the Plate makes them, if they are used to how it feels on Roshar there is going to be a noticeable difference on another world. Gravity isn't something that can be ignored, no matter how strong you are (not counting the Gravitation Surge). 8 of the Orders would be reasonably affected by the higher gravity. Several of the feats shown on Roshar, by those with Plate and those without (such as jumping chasms for those with Plate or Parshendi) is likely only possible because of the lower gravity. I'm not discounting the strength of Plate (Dalinar caught a Chasmfiend after all) but someone used to how they can move on Roshar is in for a nasty surprise on Scadrial
-
They would notice. Even with the strength Plate gives, it still would lack compared to if they were on Roshar. The only Orders that would really be able to ignore it are Windrunners and Skybreakers
-
Any planet but Roshar would put Radiants at a disadvantage. Even assuming they have enough Stormlight for the fight, most other Cosmere worlds have a higher gravity than Roshar and not by an insubstantial amount either. For the Radiant every movement would be more difficult and sluggish.

Well, knowledge that aluminum is dangerous wouldn't really do much to change the Radiants fighting style would it? After all, the only weak spot on Plate is the same as it ever was. Might change how they use their Blade though considering that aluminum daggers could, at least partially, bock those
-
Oh aluminum would definitely do it, but even a normal dagger to the brain seems like it would be bad news bears.

@Booknerd thank you it did. OB chapter 72. The wound doesn't seem to use up more Stormlight than any other healing. However the wound was debilitating. She lost feeling in the left side of her body and she had trouble pulling it out herself. Stormlight healed around the crossbow bolt causing it to stick in her. Most importantly, removing it caused her to black out.
-
Which is why I want to reread the scene. To see how much it really did affect her. I would live if anyone remembers where the chapter that it happens in because I'm having trouble finding it for some reason.

Mistborn are trained from childhood though. So they wouldn't be slouches in a fight, even Shan. However they are trained more as assassins than soldiers. I was wondering if anyone remembers the chapter that Shallan gets an arrow in the head. I can't remember the scene completely. I'm asking because one of the big parts of this debate are that a Radiant can take a head wound and heal. However what I remember from that scene is that Shallan was half debilitated and needed help removing the arrow. That makes me think a knife or even a coin through the eye would still be bad for a Radiant. One other reason I want to reread that scene is I can't remember if it uses up a lot of her Stormlight to survive and heal from it
-
I'll go looking when I have spare time but the chapter would help
-
I'm sure a lot of these already exist but I'm going to do one anyway. I'm curious who everyone's favorite non-Cosmere character is. I'm not sure who mine is but I do have a soft spot for Cody
-
I'm not sure the amount of Stormlight affects it, at least not by itself. In Oathbringer Jasnah thinks to herself how the realms are so close because of the perpendicularity which makes it easier, but she also does think to herself that she has so much Stormlight helps.

I've just been thinking lately, just how strong are Lerasium Mistborn? The reason I ask is apparently the Mistborn of old were able to break through and control Kandra which "modern" Mistborn needed Duralumin to do. This implies a huge amount of power in comparison. Secondly we have Elend overpower an Inquisitor in a Steelpushing contest. Inquisitors are commonly viewed as being stronger than Mistborn. All this makes me think that Elend didn't even come close to realizing the full power he possessed and that a Lerasium Mistborn's baseline power at least approaches the levels that Duralumin grants a modern Allomancer

And when she explodes the radiant from ripping out all the Iron in their system? It's almost like the gemheart was struck by an arrow designed to pierce Plate and was the source of his powers. Almost like a glowing weak spot? I have pointed out how Chromium and Nicrosil could both be used to drain a Radiant of their Stormlight thus greatly weakening them and the advantage time bubbles and electrum future sight give. Atium is simply the most powerful metal, but by no means the only one they could use against a Radiant While I have been making pro-Mistborn arguments, that is because I very much do not believe that they are as unstoppable as so many believe. As I said before, I do very much believe that Radiants have the advantage overall. Just by no means an insurmountable one.
-
Frankly I think the moderators need to lock this thread because this debate has gotten ridiculous. Much of the pro Radiant arguments require hypothetical and conjecture as we dont know what 4th or 5th Ideal Radiants are capable of. And we have gotten to the point where we are talking about unlimited power vs unlimited power
-
And we saw what Vin vould do with unlimited power, she flattened a city
-
He was hurt, that doesn't mean almost dead. Kaladin only got one good hit on him
-
Thank you, I still don't remember it but I'll go looking Uh no,

If there is enough room to be jumping around with Steel then there is enough room to dodge. True, I'll give you that, but considering Copper has an unspecified effect on spren it, they might not be so helpful Not particularly, he used a couple tricks but he really didn't do much Because he had her beat and was taunting her They are fundamental forces, but you are waaaaay overplaying how a Radiant could use them. Using that logic a Mistborn should just be able to push on the iron in the Radiants blood causing a whole host of nastiness.
-
I'll wait on that quote. In close quarters they would be pretty even. No I'm not, and spren aren't omniscient. Amaram was drunk on the Thrill and had literally just acquired those abilities. Also, Kaladin only got the upper hand when he was able to distract him with his guilt. Admittedly Kaladin had Fuzed to worry about but even before that at the beginning of their fight they were fighting fairly evenly. The point of that fight was to kill her. He had no reason to keep her alive at that point. Marshal's inner monologue basically confirms that No, there is a reason this fandom overall considers Fullborn the strongest non Shard in the setting (other than maybe Nightblood). Compounding offers virtually unlimited power in whatever trait is being compounded
-
Can you get the quote? I have no recollection of them dismissing armor. Steel still gives a lot of maneuverability, which is never useless. Also, your definition of combat being one that advantages the Radiant shows your bias. Retreating and attacking in irregular ways is still combat. Turning the combat into something that advantages you is the true contest. Not just slugging it out.
-
If Vin had all 16 metals then even without Atium, she would have Duralumin megaboosts, Chromium leaching of Stormlight, time bubbles, Nicrosil as another method to burn away Kaladin's Stormlight, Electrum as an alternate future sight, and her prodigious abilities in the basic 8 metals. She would most definitely be able to give Kal a hard time. Yes they were, Marsh was in the process of torturing her to death when he gained enough control to remove the earing. That's true we don't. But it's nothing but conjecture without much backing to say it's an unstoppable force. You're right, it was only hundreds of Koloss. Parshendi are better warriors but so is every other warrior. What makes beating Koloss impressive is the raw power they have. No she didn't kill the Inquisitors before, you are right about that. But considering compounding is pretty much the most powerful combat magic, the fact that she could hold them off as long as she did is impressive.
-
Or he didn't have armor. Not every Radiant did. Oathbringer implies it's not all that common to get past the 3rd Ideal. Kaladin is a master spearman. His scenes without Stormlight prove that. Also it isn't uncommon for Investiture related powers to give an instinctive ability to use them. He doesn't state that it does either. That's a preposterous fallacy. There are numerous ways a Mistborn could evade a Radiant without the use of Atium.
-
Other bridge crews also collapsed constantly. Even though carrying a bridge as a group is different than packs. Endurance training of any kind carries over to other endurance based work
-
Really? And your bases for this is? I've already said that it gives strength and endurance. It is the balance, dexterity, and grace of movement I'm saying it lacks. I did, today even before you made this post in fact. Theft straight up thinks to himself that what Kaladin does is more than Stormlight. That it has to do with Kaladin being a master of the spear. In that same scene, Kaladin considers it the strength of the storm running through him empowering him. He never thinks to himself that it betters his movements. That's partially supported by the books. But again, Stormlight is never described by someone using it as increasing their dexterity and balance Why do you think a Mistborn would waste their Atium like that? They can use their Tin enhanced senses and Bronze when Atium would not be helpful.
