  2. I've been playing quite a bit of Minecraft lately, both modded and vanilla. Recently some friends and I did a modded server with TPPI (Big modpack) and had a pretty good time.
  3. "No, I've been down here for a while, though, so they could have come back without me noticing."
  4. Jamie shrugged, "If you really want to avoid the Voidbringers then I'd recommend you go back east. No Voidbringers there, but there are some things nearly as bad. There are also more Metalborn there, and they could tell you a lot more about your powers than I could. But yeah, we usually have a few extra rooms. It's a big house."
  5. "Windrunners, Skybreakers, Dustbringers, Edgedancers, Truthwatchers, Lightweavers, Elsecallers, Willshapers, Stonewards and Bondsmiths." Doc said, "Ten orders, each bonding a different spren. Ten Surges, each order having two, with overlap between orders. Ten is kind of an important number."
  6. Doc smiled, his helm disappearing. "Actually I've been here the whole time." he shrugged, "Good to meet you too, Fadan. I'm James, but most people usually call me Doc. I'm a Bondsmith of the Fourth Ideal, hence the Plate." he said, "Which order are you from?" ~~~~ Jamie watched Cassie and the others appear in the middle of the living room. "Where'd you guys come from anyway? You're looking kind of beat up, what happened?" Instinctively she wondered if they'd been followed, but no, that was unlikely considering that they'd appeared in the living room.
  7. Doc had been sitting in the corner of the training room, absently summoning and dismissing his Shardplate gauntlet. It was a habit he'd gotten into recently, for some reason it helped him to think. He noticed Leona come in, along with someone else, who he didn't know. They didn't seem to notice him, so he continued to sit quietly, watching them spar. He clenched his fist for a moment, willing his Plate into existence. It was still a little mesmerizing, watching each intricate piece materialize from nothing, then solidify into slate grey metal. Instead of stopping at just the one gauntlet, as he'd been doing, he let the entire suit appear. As the armor appeared around him, he breathed in, pulling in some Stormlight. The urge to move, to do something intensified within him, only amplified by the increased strength of the Plate. He stood up suddenly, his Plate clanking.
  8. "Not quite." Jamie said, "Metalborn are mostly concentrated on the east coast. That's why I was so surprised to meet both of you. The others here are Knights Radiant. They're similar to us, but they have different powers, and they get them in a different way. You'll have to ask one of them if you want learn more about it, its not really something I fully understand."
  9. Reamas chuckled at the newspaper’s headline. Mystery bank robbers seen in two places at once! He handed it to Sean, who unfolded the paper and began to read. It was the evening edition, and they’d finally made the front page. Tonight was the night of the ball, and perhaps the most crucial point in his plan revolved around it. They still had a little while before the ball itself. Reamas tightened his cuffs, rolling his neck as he did so. His suit was in the more classic Colombia City style, consisting of a high collared black shirt with a tailored overcoat and matching slacks. Sean was wearing a more normal suit, white shirt, pure black tie and sport coat. Sean smiled and folded up the newspaper. “From the way they write about us, you’d think we were all archmages.” “No, not exactly.” Reamas smiled for a brief moment, “I mean, we could be using magic only, but that’s too much of a hassle. Greed is a powerful enough force for our goals.” he picked his handgun up off the table, tucking it into his coat. Maggie strode into the main area of the penthouse, dressed in a red ball gown that matched her russet hair. She was followed closely by James, who was wearing a tuxedo. “Wonderful, you’re all dressed.” Reamas checked his watch. “We should probably get going, since the palace is across town. With that, he nodded to Sean and they walked out of the penthouse. Maggie and James hung back, probably distracted by some argument or another. Once they were in the elevator, Sean looked at Reamas thoughtfully. “You know, we’ve never been to a real ball before. Kind of strange isn’t it.” Reamas nodded somewhat distractedly. He was thinking about Ash, the fairy who’d invited them to the ball in the first place. She’d probably try to corner him at the party, and question him. Reamas smiled. He had some questions for Ash, too.
  10. "Do you know how to steeljump?" Jamie asked Aya, curious, "If you don't, it's a useful skill to learn, though it's kind of dangerous without someone to catch you."
  11. "Sure." Jamie led Everest inside, past the others and back over to Aya. "Sorry about that Aya." she said with a grin, actually a little excited. "This is Everest. He's a Feruchemist, like I told you about." she explained, sitting back down. She thought for a moment, then stood up again. "In answer to your question, if you came here by way of Fortune, then knowing exactly why doesn't matter, you came here because here is where you need to be."
  12. Jamie laughed, "This has been quite a day. First time I've meet a Mistborn and a full Feruchemist who had no idea about other Metalborn. All in the same day."
  13. Jamie blinked, her surprise written across her face. Another metalborn who could tap chromium. "Yeah, it's called Fortune." Jamie smiled and rolled up her sleeve, revealing the bracer around her upper arm. "I can do the same thing. Can you do anything else, or is it that it?"
  14. "Jamie." she said, "So, how'd you get here?" Jamie asked, still leaning on the door casually.
  15. "Spren?" Jamie asked, leaning on the door. "Are you a metalborn or something?" He probably wasn't a Radiant, judging from the metalminds she managed to catch a glimpse of. "Well, I guess you'd better come in then." Jamie grinned and stepped aside, admitting the kid inside.
  16. "What do you mean?" Jamie asked, getting up to answer the door. She opened the door, looking at the kid who was waiting flatly. "Yeah?" she asked, looking a little bored.
  17. "Well look around. All the others, they're kids. They've gone through a lot, most of them, and they still fight back. If you're willing to fight, and you've got skills to do so, I don't see why not." Jamie smiled, "Maybe its a bad thing, fighting when you're still just a kid, but I mean, either we fight back or the Voidbringers overtake the whole world."
  18. "Well, I don't think you ever asked me that question in particular." Jamie smiled slightly, "But it's a good question. The others are Knights Radiant, and I'm a Twinborn. There are people called Voidbringers, and their goal is to wipe us out, along with most everyone else, or so it seems. So we've gotta fight back against them, and maybe we'll negotaite some kind of alliance, but for now it's a war."
  19. "It's a Shardblade. Radiants have them too, but they're different than this one. It's really light for its size, and it can cut through almost anything. So it's a very useful weapon, basically." Jamie shrugged, dismissing the blade.
  20. "Well, I'm not the one in charge, but I don't think anyone would be able to stop you from helping." Jamie smiled, "Especially with you being a Mistborn and all." she stood again, holding her hand out. She heard her heartbeats echo in her head, ten times. On the tenth beat, her Shardblade dropped into her hands, covered with condensation. "If you're good with swords, then maybe we could get you one of these."
  21. "Yeah. They're Knights Radiant. They have different powers, which I don't totally understand. They have to do with bonding spirits, and they use something called Stormlight to do magic." Jamie shrugged. "It would probably be a good idea to learn more about them." she mused, "Because their, and I suppose our, enemies use the same kind of magic. It's called Surgebinding, I think."
  22. "Each metal is classified by certain attributes, among other things." Jamie snapped her fingers, looking for something to write on. She found a piece of paper and began to draw on it. First she divided it into four sections, then divided each section by four. She scribbled a few words in each and put the pen down. "So there are four sort of categories of metals. Physical, Mental, Temporal, and Enhancement." She pointed to the four larger sections, "Within each section are four metals, which split into two pairs. The pairs are all either internal or external." Jamie smiled, "It's complicated but I'm almost done. Every pair consists of a metal and an alloy of that metal, which are then classified as Pushing or Pulling. The base metals 'pull' and the alloys 'push'. The best example is the first two metals, iron and steel." she tapped the first two metals on the chart. "Iron allows you to Pull metals toward you, and steel lets you Push them away." Jamie sat down on the couch, handing the paper to Aya. "From what you told me, you probably have a pretty good grasp of the first eight metals. Iron and steel allow you to literally Push and Pull on metals, tin strengthens your senses, and pewter strengthens your body. Zinc allows you enflame, or Riot others emotions, brass allows you to dampen, or Soothe them. Then there's copper and bronze. Bronze lets you sense others who're using Investiture around you, and with practice you can determine what kind of Investiture they're using. Copper allows you to create a sort of field around yourself that prevents others from sensing use of Investiture."
