  1. If he tried to pull a Shardblade out, it wouldn't work. Saws and hammers are fine, but that's as close to weapons as it gets, and even those drain it a fair bit. But thank you for the rating.
  2. That would be appreciated.
  3. Rust. It's been so long since I read HoO I didn't even realize. :/
  4. ? What am I inadvertently copying off of?
  5. Jonathon Smedry version 3.1 is here for official (and unofficial) review!
  6. I'm planning to have Janim stick around, because while they don't like the place, they do have a drive to protect people and taverns seem like a good place for that *cough* the waiter at the OJT *cough*
  7. Adolin and Renarin, as far as we know, wholeheartedly believe that Evi was killed by assassins in the Rift. For now, at least, that is what they believe. Dalinar will probably end up telling them (might be on-screen in Book 4, might be in the gap) but they don't know yet.
  8. Then how do they torture them? Cognitive Shadows don't feel pain unless they're recently dead, and you'd think the Heralds would have gotten over that long ago with how many times they've died.
  9. I thought they got manifested on the Physical side? Very possible I'm wrong.
  10. Oh yeah no they don't always go the way he wants. That's half the fun! He tried to make a shoe polisher and it broke his foot.
  11. There are other things that affect how long it takes to go to the Beyond, and they're cosmere-wide: the amount of Investiture you have. If you get enough, you can just...not go to the Beyond, as you note (we can see this in SH, and with the Heralds, only the Heralds are bound to go directly to Braize due to their oaths, while normally you just muck about in the Cognitive Realm). As to where Vax is, I'd be willing to bet it's either a Cognitive Realm hideout or a base on an otherwise uninhabited and life-unsupporting planet/moon somewhere far out of the way.
  12. I know I already posted here, but I found something intriguing about when I was born. I was born fully at 7:34 in the morning, but only due to complications. I was supposed to be born, apparently, according the doctor estimates, at 6:55 AM, directly when sunrise was that day. Storming weird.
  13. It appears to be all three Metallic Arts as they stand now, with the knowledge Scadrians have.
  14. Malu stood up and knocked on a glass, making a noise that hopefully garnered everyone's attention. "I would like to ask everyone to leave for the time being, please and thanks, as I attempt to get this place back to a working condition," he said, frowning at the missing wall portion and chalk pillars. "There will be a closed sign on the door, and once that's gone, you may come back. I hope to have some improvements done as well. Thank you."
  15. What if it's theoretically possible within the world (as in people have run simulations and worked, but we can't build the tech good enough to make it work currently, and people say it violates the laws of physics)? Because...EM Drive.
  16. For those of you who know Smedry stuff: is Tinkering an acceptable Talent? Like being able to cobble things together in unlikely combinations but they work anyway?
  17. He doesn't even feel bad about Kaladin anymore, not since the end of OB.
  18. The main advice I would have is know when to let the Rule of Cool reign and flex the rules of your world and when to be completely true to the world.
  19. Being able to regurgitate random semi-relevant trivia. Example: *banana flies by* "Did you know it takes approximately 80 million bananas to kill someone by radiation poisoning?" *banana multiplies into 80 million bananas, Invocation passes out*
  20. The Tranquiline Halls is Ashyn, another planet in the Rosharan system. Vax is something different. Plus, Ati is not from Roshar, as there were no humans on Roshar until after the decimation of Ashyn (which gave rise to the myth of the Halls), by which time he was probably already trapped by Leras on Scadrial.
  21. Now that you mention it, I'd be willing to bet that a Sliver would be hard to Return, because of the Investiture resistance, considering after the Return, the subject is then a Sliver of Endowment.
  22. Yeah, I can see that bit, but he's in no way Dalinar's opposite on the battlefield, just for the record, and he probably never will be now that the Thrill is locked up. Off the battlefield is a different matter, as you are saying.
  23. Cinnamon sweet monkey bread > croissants.
  24. He can kill someone who is both overconfident and not expecting an actual fight (the Fused) or someone who is completely overwhelmed in the heat of a chaotic battle (Elhokar) and while he might not be a coward in the traditional sense, he does run away from his problems, focusing on making it someone else's fault, someone else to blame, and he does stab a guy in the back, then stabs a drunk madman. He bends to the next force that comes by that gives him an ounce of absolvement for the guilt he feels over his choices and makes him feel like everything that happened wasn't his fault, all with little prompting, committing fully the instant he gets a little taste of power again. We can agree, however, that Moash is not redeemable. Szeth was one thing (and even he was borderline unredeemable) but Moash is all the way gone.
  25. Don't take Bean's cookies. You want my delicious monkey bread instead.
