  1. I'm more used to smaller games. The extremely large size and complexity of this one is somewhat confusing to me and so I am generally unsure of what to say. It's generally tricky reading the posts and not knowing who is who and trying to predict motives when I can't remember who is from which side. If I see someone especially suspicious I could throw in my voice or vote, but I don't really have any major views at the moment. In character, since there is apparently a scream... Alan carefully glued the pages of the book in. This would be a valuable gift for his lord. He then heard a scream. He dropped the book to the floor where it exploded, a mess of pages and glue. These people and their murderous ways. Better to stay apart.
  2. Would the Idrians or Hallandren necessarily want to have an unfair treaty biased to them? I am not sure, that is the issue. Anyway, that is why I'd prefer for the end game if there were several possible terms of the treaty that the remaining players could vote on, e.g. are lifeless allowed or not, should the two sides go into a pointless and destructive war, should territory be seized. That way we could actually negotiate out a treaty.
  3. So, the best scenario might be to kill off all but one Pahn Kahl and then suicide so we have equal numbers?
  4. Alan nervously skimmed the book, keeping his eyes on everyone over the pages of the well worn paper. Accusations were flying, and, as a newcomer, he had little idea of what to do or say, so he would just keep quiet for now.
  5. I've read the book and it was good, but it was pretty depressing by the end. I have no desire to repeat that with a film.
  6. He spoke excitedly, telling the story "And then he threw the rope out and yelled out a command, 'Hold him' infusing it with his breaths. But the breaths didn't grab his hands like they had before. They wrapped around his feet, knocking him over. Apparently the presence of a crowd was enough to make the command work differently. There it was traditional to not bind a person's hands and somehow that influenced the command..." He saw the new man, joining their scholarly meeting. "Why hello, what is your name?"
  7. I've heard talks about how he may make it a graphic novel, so he has probably re-read it at some point.
  8. We're going to try to make the 19th. I earlier googled asoiaf pubs and found the Old Explorer Pub and Phoenix. If Sabrina or someone checks those out to see if they are decent maybe we could go to one of them. I suppose I could check them out today, though it's somewhat off my route.
  9. Adonalsium is a super god thing that may or may not have been a person, with some enemy. In the distant past of the cosmere it was intentionally shattered. It's godlike body was split into 16 powerful shards, each composed of one emotion of Adonalsium and a tremendous amount of power. People from Yolen, another shardworld where the to be written dragonsteel book series will be set, picked up each fragment and fused with the shards. They then meandered around the cosmere doing shardy things. Hoid has some mission that is connected with Adonalsium in some manner. He is worldhopping from world to world collecting powers from each.
  10. I've gone through the entire video. Some highlights. 26.00 There are three or four inconsistencies between what szeth says and kaladin does with regards to shardblade healing. The king holds something, and that holds the secrets that will be revealed in future books. He can't reveal details because if he does it gets out on the internet due to recorder. 35.00 If Kaladin betrayed his oaths then Szeth would come into possession of a shardblade?Maybe. 36.20 Hemalurgic spikes work on any planet. Parshendi could potentially develop a form using a spike. Theoretical. He never considered. He has considered them adopting other investiture. 44.40 Unmade. As far as anyone knows the unmade are spren. Sounded like a wink answer. Not a good answer, rafo. 45.00 Are there factions in the spiritual realm? Yes, but not what you think of. First answer, yes, thought of another realm (cognitive?). Are there lifeforms in the spiritual realm? Yes but not what you think of. 48.00 How did Hoid deliver the letters? RAFO. Nightwatcher can do 'whatever she wants' including RAFO you. Will zinc compounder be a character? He is thinking about it, no promises. 1.02 Could you soulforge nightblood. You could. It would be easier than you might expect in terms of what you do. He would resist it as he is really invested. Forgery can get through those hoops more easily than other magics. Soul forging can work on unwilling subjects, it is hard working on soul. Sparks of inspiration. Alcatraz origin. Someone likes religion and atheists. Best sci fi a fire upon the deep. He has not read human division, likes all scalzi he has read. Someone is a shardblade cosplay. Tap the blue button. No one has ever dressed up as a shardblade. 1.08.40 After Adonalsium shattered. It helps a lot to have a bit of magic from whatever shard magic world you want to use magic from if you want to use it on different worlds. Hemalurgy helps. If you can twist a person's sDNA you can do all sorts of funky things. 1.13.30 Nazh is Ardent sketching them, one kicked out confirmation. If someone else wants to, they can transcribe those sections.
  11. Alan reached out to touch the drab waitress, stopping before he finished the action. No reaction. He intently stared at her hair, a radiant red that spoke of a dye from a Hallendren market bought to mask her lack of breath. No reaction. He He opened his notebook and ticked a mark under the drab column. He was writing a short thesis on the nature of drabs while he waited for the treaty to begin. It was quite fun for him, Who next... He saw a man in the corner, reading a book. It looked... an expensive book. Poorly bound, from the distant past, quite a bit of damage. From one of the scholars? A valuable book. He was sure his master didn't own a copy of that. Perhaps he could loan it from him to copy it? He carefully closed his notebook, placed it in a grey bag, and got up, walking towards the man in the corner. He greeted him. "Hello there. I haven't seen you around here. How goes it?"

  13. Alan is a librarian for a minor noble. He buys rare books and orders them for the pleasure of his master. He is often seen in a pub drinking over some tome or trying to interest one of the locals in the minor details of warfare in the distant past or the cuisine of a far away land. His favorite color is grey. The sixth heightening could give you the ability to research an ability and lower its breath cost by one, to a minimum of one.
  14. Remember how Preservation and Ruin collaborated to make the world and everything had a bit of Ruin and Preservation in it? Food may have a bit of Honor and Cultivation in it.
  15. Perhaps Nightmare Moon could be Calamity? Granting humans and ponies all through the land dark magical powers to corrupt and twist them. We would have to, through expenditure of extreme friendship and violence, pacify the various evil things and eventually start a romance between our hooves and Nightmare Moon's face.
  16. We have no evidence that iron feruchemy grants you any extra resistance from combat damage. The rpg says it helps you resist falls, though says nothing about increasing your combat durability, and there has been no in book suggestion of such. It's possible. But as of the moment we have no evidence it does that. It's a hypothetical power with no evidence for it. Generally we would assume physics operates as normal. So if you can crush a floor by standing on it, you should be able to do something similar to a wall by falling on it. It's only for people that it is often directly mentioned that for some reason the amount of damage is reduced. You can stop an armored car with your bare hands, but for some reason you can't hit people as hard as an armored car with your fists.
  17. It shouldn't be too hard to find a set that you could combine. WOR spoilers. Suppose Dalinar wanted all the powers to himself. Would he have broken any oaths yet? I am sure he can find some truths to speak for the lightweavers. Then he just needs to love adventure and oddities to attract an elsecaller spren and he will then have all ten surges. He likes Wit, he can start being a bit more odd.
  18. On the molecular level a knife is little different from a club anyway. Thousands of atoms. You smash some bonds in the substance you are cutting and force your way inside. There isn't a massive distinction between a knife and a club. And you are also not more resistant to objects with a larger surface area. A club will still hurt you, a hammer likewise. Iron feruchemy grants you no special resistance to blunt weapons or anything wielded by humans. It has a much lesser effect on humans than would be expected from its power. As such to work on a scientific level it needs an explanation that includes why it influences humans differently.
  19. Feruchemists use Nicrosil to store “investiture,” or their connection to the source of metaphysical power (in Feruchemy, this means the deepest recesses of the self). Even the most learned Feruchemical scholars don’t fully understand the nature of this ability, but some believe stored investiture is the rawest form of personal potential — the primal root of a Feruchemist’s ability. In practical terms, this exceedingly rare metal grants a character the very potent ability to transform a stored characteristic — such as weight, strength, sight, or the like — into a “generic” source of power called “ investiture.” The Feruchemist may then tap investiture to augment nearly any other tapped ability, from physical strength to mental speed and beyond. In this way investiture is the most potent enhancement available in Feruchemy, a reserve of pure, universal power that can amplify nearly any Feruchemical effort. The promise of Nicrosil becomes even more astounding if you consider it in relation to one of the incredibly powerful sources of power in the Final Empire (such as the Well of Ascension or the mists). Theoretically, a character exposed to one of these might be able to transform and store its seemingly limitless power, putting near-godlike power at his or her disposal. Fortunately, no Feruchemist in known history has been in this situation, but if ever there was something for the Lord Ruler to strive for... With chromium you store an internal attribute that you can use for external effects- you store your spirit, your connection to the metaphysical, which connects you to the beat of the story. You can likewise store your strength or speed and then have external effects.
  20. Crashing browsers are annoying. Browsers should all save your text. Old Explorer Pub? Phoenix? Be at one looks very fancy. I don't really mind one way or the other, since I can't visit I can't really judge them.
  21. http://www.evansandpeel.com/ In terms of what to do Sabrina, being a master of finding artful places filled with culture, recommended this bar. You get a case and you (presumably) solve it over the evening over drinks and food. Would people want an eventful evening like that? Or something more laid back? The mystery of the stolen Sanderson Manuscript.
  22. It's the best guide we have on it. Their powers are more limited than this. The rpg describes luck mechanics in depth. These are their powers. Tapping feruchemy allows you to maximize your spirit. They can ask the narrator what to do, get intuition. They can alter details in a situation, like finding a cabinet contains weapons. They can push beyond their limits. And they can reroll, without bonuses. They also have these abilities. They don't have the ability to enhance their combat rolls, always choose the correct answer, or anything like that. With lots of chromium they would have powerful versions of each of these abilities. Tapping lots of chromium just gives them another roll. If they choose to trust their gut they can be safer. They can escape from a dangerous situation early. But again, their powers are sharply limited. This is likely built as such so that chromium isn't the only good power.
  23. April the 19th seems to be a popular date. How would everyone feel agreeing to do it then?
  24. Odium doesn't act like he hates everything. When he splintered Aona and Skai he didn't annihilate their planet for example. He acts like he hates all Shards.
  25. It doesn't necessarily mean that. It could just be that the amount of power you tend to spike in hemelurgy is far below the carrying capacity of even a small pin.
