Probably not enough to make a Kandra, and the quote seems to imply an aversion to Hemalurgy in general. Sazed seems to be against "Saving it", whatever Marsh saved. So the real question is, did he use Hemalurgy to store personality, or did he spike it to give pewter? (And if the latter, was it a used one or a new one?).

the most useless uses for useful powers
Observer replied to king of nowhere's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I honestly hate beards. But to forge all air in the immediate area into a bunch of disembodies facial hair is just too amazing an option to pass up. Imagine explaining ot your friends how it all got there! "Well you see......I collect the beards of every person I kill. I tie them up in the attic, and then rip it all out hair by hair..." See how long you can go before they all freak out, leave, and/or call the authorities. Fun for everybody. EDIT: Stupid grammar >_> Wish I could rip out its beard... -

I believe I mentioned that. By now they're probably hemalurgically useless, but it does make me wonder: Did Sazed make anything new while they were still good? If not, why not?

Marsh knows as well as we do that TLR, within only a few hours of holding a Sliver of Preservation and a few whisperings of Ruin, was able to create three different races using Hemalurgy, one of which was actually benign with very little in the way of mental damage. I imagine that, if anything, Marsh is asking about making a new race. I mean, Sazed brought back the Kandra, and uses the earrings, so he clearly is willing to make some comprimises where the system is concerned. Granted, those were probably existing spikes, but the fact that he used them is something. Unless there are afterlife consequences. I see no problem with spiking the dying or the criminal in order to create a Kandra or something else of century-long design.

Of course, you'd have to know enough about your own soul and the other person's soul, though it would need less knowledge in general. They probably just didn't want Shai doiong anything with herself that could lead to a potential escape. -

What a waste. You could totally make a virus of that. Like, make it so somebody else does it, and when they finish they'll select a person from a list of people you hate to give it to before self-stamping again and begining once more. You could totally wreck society with this! Could you forge yourself into knowing somebody well enough to forge them? If so, I've got a history of an addiction to drinking molten iron for a few people -
Totally OT, but anybody wondering why Harmony, a shard of balance, is against using hemalurgy?

Skulduggery Pleasant? I liked Ninefingers, but I also kinda liked Glokta. He had a nice inner monologue and a morbid brand of humor I can relate to.

I wonder, can Shadowblazes be killed like Chalklings? Or do they regenerate, like something else we know of that has to do with them?

Everybody seemed super surprised to learn that the Scribber's chalklings were immortal, so I doubt that's normally the case. Also, it probably took forever to make that huge circle. A gradually closing box would take a very long time.

Why Joel didn't become a Rithmatist (spoilers)
Observer replied to blackmagic3's topic in The Rithmatist
The reason only around one in a thousand are chosen is probably because most of the time all the Rithmatist spots are filled. The odds of you being incepted just as a Shadowblaze is freed up happen to be very unlikely. So yes, if that's the reason it's totally possible to bribe your way into being a Rithmatist, just get in at the right time. -
From the start I called Harding being evil, for much the same reasons the characters did later. That, and the horse on the cover made me naturally suspicious for some reason. Like so many, I instantly discarded Nalizar as a suspect as he was so often the focus of suspicion, so I guess Brandon got me there. I was sad to call from the start that Joel wouldn't be made a Rithmatist, but part of what makes the story interetsing is the fact that he doesn't have magic, and I highly doubted Brandon would take that away in book one. All in all, I really liked it. The opening does feel a little off, but I liked the ending just fine. Book two will probably take that commonly complained about confession from Nalizar and make some use of it. above all, I like the feel of rithmatics. I'd probably do what Joel did if I were in this world. It's just so cool.

Joel mentions that if Chalklings were so easy to work with, they'd just carry them in boxes. If portable lines of forbiddence were possible, they'd probably just outline a matchbox with them and keep chalklings inside. IMO, lines probably cannot be moved once drawn, anchoring the surface they're on where it is.

On the Strength of Rending Chalklings and Lines of Revocation

He may not have left any Invesutre there, but that doesn't mean he didn't mess around with the planet a little before leaving...

I don't think they touch your blood, a requirement for Hemalurgy. And the almost certainly didn't kill somebody on their way onto you, so I doubt they count. You could, or course, just do what Miles did and embed bits of metal in yourself for larger reserves. Not sure how healthy that is for you though...
-
Investure would normally be overwritten by anything stronger than itself. However, this is all internalized. There are no reports of a person burning Pewter being weakened by simultaneously burning Steel and Tin. So long as it is your own Investure, it seems to have no problems. If thi ssame concept applies to Breath, TLR should be able to change his age and get stuck at it when not tapping it. Otherwise, Breath would overwrite the Atium and render it useless, having the same effect as him not being able to tap it, killing him. Still, what about the allomancy example. Is there a reason it doesn't overwrite itself?

It'll take such a long time, it may as well be like that for all intents and purposes. By the time the Conflux (A hypotheitcal Cosmere bring-together finale) and Dragonsteel roll around, we'll probably already have most of the story anyways, if our progress here is anything to go off of.

Well, a year or so later and I've now read Homestuck. Wow. Just, wow. The story moves much more quickly, gets more complex and interesting with less user-suggested timewasting, and more character exploration comes in. The art improves as well, though whether or not you'll like it is up to you. My favorite character is probably Vriska. Lots of people despise her, but I actually like her. Ever since her little speech on her motives in Act 6, I hope she got at least a few more fans. Favorite human is a bit harder, but I'll probably go for Roxy as the most kindhearted and nice character. Dave is also pretty cool, with his amazing rambling metaphors. Anybody hear watch the Let's Read Homestuck videos? It makes the first acts much more tolerable I hear. EDIT: Woah. Caliborn just Past-Read-my-mind. Wow.

Nah, since luck is only applicable to you, so long as the others are watching, not storing it, they worst they can do is stub their toe if they work things out carefully. A thug and a coinshot mixed with a slider are a very powerful combination. Add triple luck to the mix, and they get several times more dangerous. Not as cool as my shock troops, but still cool.

I mean, like, a living version of your reflection that can think and talk, just in a mirrored sort of way. You can't duck to the right, or they will to, and they'll propose the same but reversed idea if you tell them which way to go. Assuming, for full goodiness sake, that all the others are 17th sharders, the only real option is to go for something and hope for the best. If you felt really nice, you could be a gnat and open up a space for another person.

Magic System Based on Harnessing the Memories of Inanimate Objects
Observer replied to Keeper's topic in Creator's Corner
Religion would be a particularly nice issue to explore, as well as controversial issues. If everybody trusts the object's memories, plants would be incredibly effective. Assylums would be wonderful fortresses, and torture chambers would be even better. Insane people. People who are resistant to pain. Oooooh yes...
