A little late, but I always did wonder why Syl would bother putting on the show of fending off the deathspren if they didn't actually do anything. It seems quite likely that they do in fact have an effect on the dying, and she was able to hold them off in some way. After all, Spren can probably interact cognitively. And yes Weiry, I think that's probably what that quote means. What do you think will happen when the Chasmfiends are all gone? The war excuse will be gone, but what else?

Clearly Lightsong's drunk monkey is sitting in the sky as judge. And monkeys don't like colored circles.

Hehe, just burn the Atium all game long, even during your own turn when you know you won't get a slap. In fact, add duralumin to it to see how long the game will go! -

Well, I'm pretty sure that Spook just finished digesting the Tin while he was asleep. Pewter and other surival-enhancing metals would be the only sleep-burned ones. -
On a user they serve as a good first-glance guess at how long the person has been around and how many helpful posts they've made. On a post it serves as an indication of how well-written, though-out, and how popular a post is. Overall, a very helpful feature.

I feel chalklings are no less rigid in their rules than any other line, they are simply less understood. In future books I'm sure the exact rules behind them will be explained more thoroughly.

You could always just draw a bunch of connecting L shapes.

Wouldn't this be a great rts style board game?
Observer replied to Jaximus's topic in The Rithmatist
I was actually referring to how chalklings themselves all move forward in real time. If you only have one it works by drawing a dotted line as it follows instructions, but this doesn't work as well if you have a lot of them and are shooting lines of vigor on the side. Likewise, defensively bound chalklings are a tad difficult to work with, though usually we just assume they act as a zombieAI, heading for the first thing to enter their range. Did a few practice rounds, though mostly it devolved into both of us using the Osborn Defense and spamming lines of revocation and vigor until somebody couldn't block quickly enough.- 6 replies

Wouldn't this be a great rts style board game?
Observer replied to Jaximus's topic in The Rithmatist
Actually looks pretty fun. I've personally been working on a computer program to do the same thing, but while that's waiting I can always play this on my big whiteboard. Nice work. EDIT: Still a little unclear on how each chalkling moves together and how the lines of vigor work in real time. Is it more turn based, or is there some way to get it all together?- 6 replies

Just using hyperbole. I was being a little bit self-depracating for not being able to word the post any better at the time. I think we've all seen much worse than that before. Any new news on Steelheart yet? I heard it would be coming out this year, but aside from that the info I have hasn't updated at all.

Those are Kandra, not Mistwraiths. There's a difference.

Personaly, I prefer this solution.

The problem with that explanation is the fact that acid killed the one attached to Harding. If we go with Phatom's explanation, it means we'll probably be introduced to a few new of Nabraskan creatures in book 2, if there are 3 we currently know of.
-
Oh yeah, I remember him saying something like "If your acid hadn't weakened me" at one point towards the end...
-
I probably just missed the explanation from reading too fast, but does anybody know why the acid Joel dumped on Nalizar didn't kill the Forgotten atttached to him?

Use Atium while playing the computer or watching TV. It'll render both the present and the future unreadable! -

Forging for cheap space travel?
Observer replied to king of nowhere's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Even if broken, the floor and bed are still a floor and bed. Gold outside of a chest and spent around has changed cognitively, much the same way rocket fuel would change as it burned. -

Wild Speculation regarding the second and third Mistborn trilogies
Observer replied to Windborne Sword's topic in Mistborn
The crucial thing to think about here is Kelsier is still around. Brandon's kept him hanging out in the cognitive realm for a reason, whether it be eventual ressurection or some other plot-significant role. -

Somebody a page or two back theorized that Chalklings are only blocked by lines themselves, not the walls they produce. Considering how chalklings and the 3D interact, it seems a more reasonable theory.
