  1. You appear to have put the settings to random special positions. This is going to be a really strange game. My copy is here: http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=100985122
  2. Game accepted, good luck and have fun. Be sure to challenge the others while you're at it. And nobody in their right mind should want Observation. If you thought Harmony had problems taking action...
  3. For some reason I can't find you. Also for friend requests I'm posting links to all current member's profile pages in the OP.
  4. I've sent a friend request and a challenge. If you hit up my profile, you can also find Rainspren and send a request/challenge there as well.
  5. For those who want to see the game: http://www.chess.com...me?id=100623568 And if by some miracle you're on while we're both making moves, it won't auto-update. You'll have to make do by pushing F5 repeatedly while our screens show the game live, suckers. (Reposting because I somehow accidentally hid my last post. Don't ask. More or less recreated I think.)
  6. Well crap happened. Omnir probably died at some point due to absurd overconfidence and his lack of patience, but I no longer have the time to participate. Sorry guys.
  7. I just poked a glass of water and watched the whole thing freeze instantly. I also turned water to snow just as fast. Water science is the best thing.

I had to listen to about an hour of Trine music to get that out my head. I hate you so much.

  8. I remember back when you first joined. I was there when you got your first couple of upvotes. How did this happen?
  9. I've sent you a challenge request. Let's see how this plays out.
  10. I really hate to be "that guy", but there's already a post containing all of the death rattles in the name of general analysis. Feel free to copy/paste this beautiful wordwall over to here for discussion.
  11. As I said, I am registered as Deathguardian97. I think I used my spam E-mail of [email protected] to set it up. If you go to the "invite a friend" tab and attempt to invite that E-mail, it will inform you that I'm already a member. That'll take you to my profile and let you challenge me. Anybody else who wants to be bombarded with challenges from the Shard, feel free to post your usernames here as well.
  12. Didn't even realize you could change your name. Seems to be a fitting way to use it for the first time.
  13. Do we have any proper word on how he was feeling when those soldiers got killed? Can't check myself since I've loaned my copy of Mistborn to a friend, but charging an army with little regard for your own safety could still fit the profile, and I think I've already come up with an explanation for why he was able to care so much about Vin, but so much less about the crew.
  14. Sociopath is an outdated term for one on the far end of ASPD spectrum. I believe that is the key different between the two, as psychopath is still an active term for a disorder separate from ASPD. EDIT: Actually, you know what? This is a really pointless derailment. We can make a different OT threat for this, or a PM chain, but let's not get too distracted from main topic, alright?
  15. As usual, I'm far too lazy to actually post more than one link, but this has been brought up before on various threads. We already have WoB that Shallan's memory is magical, but not a surge. Try looking around on here, I'm fairly sure somebody brings it up at some point. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/4325-shallan-memory-surge-connection/
  16. We have pretty heft WoB that they're all the same guy, and not just a coincidence. I'd dig up the quotes, but I'm lazy, it's late, and somebody will inevitably snipe me regardless. Considering the agenda, appearance, personality, talents, and general similarities of the Hoids, alongside Word of Brandon, we're fairly certain it's the same guy.
  17. Yeah, it's free. They'll send you a bunch of chess-related mail to make you feel like a friendless loser, but marking it as spam gets rid of it quickly enough. Other than that, it's pretty much a ten second process.
  18. So, who here has an account of Chess.com already, or the e-mail associated with that account so I can send a friend request?
  19. I'll admit to slothfulness and only digging up one link, but this topic has been brought up dozens of times in various threads, such as this one: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/13382-three-of-sixteen-ruled-but-now-the-broken-one-reigns/ The general conclusion seems to always land on the fact that we have far too little to go off of to form any meaningful speculation. EDIT: Oh yeah, I actually made one of those threads. Forgot about that. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/7276-the-broken-one-reigns/ http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/7253-3-of-16-ruled-possibly-solved/
  20. When you have a neat little stack of RAFO cards that you sleep with in the hopes that their mysteries will seep into your mind via the badly misunderstood mechanics of osmosis.
  21. Alright, who here on the Shard is any good at chess? Lately I've reactivated on chess.com and started meeting again with my chess-buddies, played a bunch of silly and embarrassing games, and started to get my game back on. So I started to wonder: Are there enough people here to start regular, round-robin correspondence games? Chess is an amazing, beautiful mix of tactics and strategy, and I'd like the chance to do it a little justice, either by crushing you people or being crushed by you people. Chess.com is good place for this kind of thing, and my username is Deathguardian97. Send me a challenge if you're feeling up to it, maybe discuss the game a bit in here. Let's see if we can't get started. If you have a game going, and wouldn't mind people watching, kindly post a link somewhere here, and I'll add it to this post. So far we have: Me vs Rainspren: http://www.chess.com...me?id=100623568 me vs luckat: http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=101916342 Me vs The Only Joe: http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=100956806 Me vs LokiThor: http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=101349634 For ease of sending friend requests and challenges, attack your fellow sharers here: http://www.chess.com/members/view/QueenElsa1 http://www.chess.com/members/view/VO1DUS http://www.chess.com/members/view/Rainspren http://www.chess.com/members/view/luckat http://www.chess.com/members/view/deathguardian97
  22. Basically all mental, or even medical conditions are on a spectrum of sorts, though that's oversimplifying it. There really aren't a lot of mental disorders that are totally binary, if any.
  23. I think we're assuming is experiences in the Pits drove him over the edge. Before he was just a ruthless and hateful man, like basically every person in Luthadel. After the Pits, he took it a step further, but his past stayed as a bit of a soft spot for him.
