Anniversary Game 7/Anonymous Game 9: From Embers, A Flame
Coral Swan replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Threats are both unethical and ineffective, since Autonomy can ask for protection from Valor and Honor's Investee after outing the elim who made the threat in retribution, but the elims learning Autonomy's identity by observing who is visiting Shardworlds in the Rosharan system would indeed give them an opportunity for an alliance. I do feel like if Autonomy wants an alliance they can get one with Shadesmar PMs if nothing else and that they wouldn't appreciate having you ask an original inhabitant for the C1 planet player list. Being able to offer Autonomy protection would be helpful though. Following this one lead had taken too much time, and Enoras decided this was an excellent opportunity to rest and see how things turned out.- 1222 replies

If Heron was evil, they would know whether Gecko was too and any read would have an agenda, either making Heron look good or casting doubt on someone innocent depending on Gecko's alignment. Since Heron was a villager and didn't know Gecko's alignment, it's only one person's opinion. Confirmed to be not malicious, but certainly not enough on its own to be condemning. Compounding Fortune was hard work, and Enoras was beginning to feel overwhelmed by the constant tuggings of fate and connection. Right now, they were saying that Beagle would be important somehow, and so Enoras set off to find out why.- 1222 replies

If Lion's primary goal was to fish for Cultivation, they wouldn't have claimed Prudence 50 minutes after the original post. I don't know why Lion is particularly interested in knowing Cultivation's identity, but it's only a problem for elim Lion and I don't think that's the case. The main things against Gecko look to be the vote on Kangaroo with no real reasoning late in the day, and with the guess that the elims weren't trying all the way to bus Crocodile that tilts elim. Gecko was afraid enough of removal to move to First of the Sun, which is only good for self-preservation, knowing that their vote on Kangaroo might raise suspicions. I'm pretty sure it was Axolotl who said that Gecko was more on the suspect list if Heron was a villager, but it looks like that was because Heron expressed suspicion of Gecko and since Heron was a villager that's less valuable than if Heron were evil. Beagle's gotten enough pings asking for information, so I don't think anything else I can do will help. I'll stick a vote on Taupe Gecko now and hopefully come back in time to see what Beagle wanted with Autonomy.- 1222 replies

The elims could have killed Heron to implicate a not-evil Gecko, but since Gecko was already in the running for removal the elims could have killed Heron even knowing it would make elim!Gecko look bad. Either alignment option is possible.- 1222 replies

So we know Axolotl, Heron, Kangaroo, Ostrich, Scorpion, Weasel, Iguana, and presumably one more person on Braize as potential Odium targets from N1. Axolotl and Kangaroo requested protection. In addition to other reasons Axolotl brought up, or more likely also a reason that was implied and I just didn't fully notice, attacking Heron fulfilled Axolotl's request to investigate Gecko if Heron flipped village. Gecko suspicion still would have been there without Heron's death, so Odium with elim!Gecko could have seen that and still decided to go for it anyway. I requested PMs with both prospects, signed off until 30 minutes before rollover having not gotten any PMs. I had a vote for Crocodile ready, but then I tried to edit my post after seeing Elephant unvote and Kangaroo add a vote and ended up missing rollover. You're right that I should have put the vote down in my second post to be reevaluated as required. I'm looking at mostly Hyena or Gecko right now, feeling like the elims wouldn't have left it as a tie D1 if they wanted to bus. I may have just missed this but @Charcoal Hyena, was there anything in particular about your PM with Crocodile that convinced you they were good? @Plum Rhinoceros, Prudence's splinter claiming if they aren't in the Rosharan system should work, since they would be immune to Odium and their Investee, and you are right that there are protective measures even if Prudence is within Odium's reach. Some downsides are the possibility that Prudence Invested in an elim D1, unlikely but not impossible, and the fact that only 9/24 players other than Prudence's current Vessel can be Invested, only relevant if the current holder dies.- 1222 replies

Coral Swan replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Last AG the elims just blatantly murdered a teammate D1 by having one of their members break a tie against the elim, but this time they left it up to a tie. Not a strong effort to save Mauve, but unlikely that they put a lot of resources behind exeing them. I don't think Taupe and Amber are both elims, as setting up for a tie would be bad for one of them. Either committing to bussing a teammate or putting in the effort to save him would be the more likely play. Sapphire retracted their vote, but I'm not putting that much higher than the other people who said they might retract votes as Sapphire helped ensure the exe would come down to Mauve/Sage, and potentially would have seen that Sage was around to vote in self-preservation. If the elims had Whimsy or some other role/item that allows for vote power, they didn't bother to use it.- 1222 replies

Anniversary Game 7/Anonymous Game 9: From Embers, A Flame

Sage did mention Invention, implying that their item creation ability and as Charcoal says their ability to choose a successor by Investing might make them a target and thus shouldn't claim. Elim Sage likely wouldn't prioritize the death of neutral Shards to the extent of encouraging them to claim. Seeking an alliance or goodwill is a more likely elim motive, but Invention would be a more helpful partner than Survival if that were true. I will say that an elim claiming to a neutral and threatening to kill them if they don't comply comes too close to blackmail. I would hope that doesn't happen. I don't like that we've locked between Sage and Mauve. Villagers are more likely to make controversial suggestions. Mauve started off complaining about poke votes, which Turquoise's vote for Sage was not, but then expands that to not wanting to hear about the efficacy of having a D1 vote even if there's little evidence, which is a discussion Turquoise and Violet were having and does come up frequently in games. Mauve fearing for their life more than twelve hours before rollover and jumping on Sage is a better reason for the Mauve vote; I have seen elims panic like that and controversial suggestion doesn't equal ill intent. Villagers afraid for not having a team's support can also exhibit a fear response, but as a double voter, this is less likely and there's more of a responsibility to find a good vote target. Actual vote will come before rollover, Enoras decided. If this vote and any other votes are close, is it worthwhile to reveal the relevant players on Braize and First of the Sun? That does give away potentially harmful information, but Odium already learns the players in the Rosharan system every night and the elims have better knowledge about what planets people are on in general. @Prudence may I have three PMs? Enoras tapped Fortune and felt pulled towards individuals known only by the colors Sage, Mauve and Opal. Could those connections mean anything? They decided that it did. Never too early to start trusting the inner workings of the cosmere.- 1222 replies

"Really, there's nothing wrong with seeing the future! It's totally not evil; just look at atium, or wait maybe that's a bad example. Uhh, uhh, uhh, how about electrum, or those fancy new birds on First of the Sun or even the Returned? Come on now, it's a totally neutral ability," Rali enthused . "I already said I would do it, you don't need to convince me any further. This is what I want," Enoras replied, following the scientist into one of the smaller waiting rooms. "Of course! Now just sit down on this stool here and we can get started in just a minute." "Wait why do I need-" Enoras broke off as they saw two strangers trudge into the room hands behind their backs, each escorted by a guard. "Why are they here? I was supposed to meet Khi today and become one of Her Truthwatchers." Rali sighed, and Enoras could almost imagine genuine remorse behind the sound. "Sadly, you've been reassigned. Something about a potential cosmere wide conflict between the Shards. You'll be required to travel between worlds, and since we haven't been able to find a way to transport spren off-system, our lord has concocted an alternative plan." With that, Rali pushed Enoras, who fell back onto the stool without resistance. The two guards withdrew silvery spikes and together they impaled their prisoners through the heart, driving the ends of the spikes through Enoras's kidneys simultaneously. The dead metalborn collapsed as Enoras screamed in agony. The guards withdrew as Rali approached bearing several pieces of chromium jewelry in one hand and a supply of chromium vials in the other. "You know what to do with these, I trust? I do apologize for the surprise, but the process hurts more if you're expecting it." Still wincing, Enoras got up from the stool and snatched the metalminds and put them on, then consumed the first vial of chromium flakes to begin the process of compounding. A minute later, brimming with Fortune, they finally spoke. "You will make sure nobody connects the deaths of these people to us, and compensate their families if you can." Rali beamed. "Ooh, I see your power has already started to kick in! Well while I'm working on that, it's time to ship you off to your assignment. Your newfound abilities will tell you were to start. Just be sure to keep in contact with any on-planet representatives.Good luck! It would be such a shame if we had to waste any more lives." With that, the scientist strode out of the room, and after a moment, Enoras did too, leaving the corpses on the floor. it was time to fulfill their master's wishes, and no time could be wasted when a full scale war was brewing. The neutrals will have a list of players that includes at least two elims and two villagers if they win which they may or may not be able to dump before dying depending on whether there's a gap cycle between winning and being taken out of the game. Since they don't have to help the village the risk of the elims killing them for claiming isn't as high as it could be, but it's not impossible.- 1222 replies

Can confirm that a lynch does not prevent the creation of PM's. I guess I don't see any reason why I shouldn't claim, now... I am M'hael, a Forsaken formerly known as Mazrim Taim. (Yes, he doesn't become a Forsaken until the end, but he was working with them pretty much the whole time- so I guess it counts.) I have arrived! As for balefire, I think that given the fact that exists at all it is very likely to have a use similar to that of the books- that is, of undoing past actions of a player. (In addition to killing them, of course). Important to note is that, at least in the books, balefire cannot undo other balefire. (Probably a good thing for the GMs.) It seems possible that it could change the outcome of a lynch, but I'm not sure of that. If there are other attacks besides balefire, then those almost certainly would be undo-able, however, which makes it more likely that a lynch would be able to. More information, I think, should be gathered from the lynch. Dingo(0):Mouse Hyena(0):Weasel Swan(3):Dingo,Tuatara,Weasel Mouse(2):Dragonfly,Swan. Dragonfly(0):Mouse Penguin(0):Scorpion Falcon(0):Hyena Vulture(1):Falcon I think my vote will go on Mouse for now. Their vote on Dragonfly feels odd to me, given that Dragonfly had already posted and several others hadn't.- 235 replies

Vote Count: Onyx Flamingo (1): Mauve Crocodile Taupe Gecko (1): Emerald Falcon Amethyst Scorpion (1): Coral Swan Opal Lion (1): Saffron Iguana Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, for we are members one of another. Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun set on your anger, and do not leave room for Odium. The lurker must no longer lurk, but rather vote, doing honest work with his own voice, so that he may have something to share with one in need. No trepidation should come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for needed edification, that it may impart grace to those who hear. My vote on Amethyst Scorpion is going nowhere, so I will echo the calls against Taupe Gecko. They didn't vote day one, have been generally cagey about their reads. They also kick-started the Opal Lion lynch train, which seems to have been an evil ploy.

To the clean all things are clean, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is clean; in fact, both their minds and their consciences are tainted. They claim to know Honor, but by their deeds they deny him. They are vile and disobedient and unqualified for any good deed. Amethyst Scorpion My theory is that no Voidbringers voted on Cycle One. Therefore, trying to lead the village against those who voted is suspicious. In addition, Scorpion tried to throw suspicion on Chameleon, which we now know to be innacurate. @Amethyst Scorpion do you have a rebuttal?

We ought to thank God always for you, brothers, as is fitting, because our strength flourishes ever more, and the love of every one of you for one another grows ever greater. Accordingly, we ourselves boast of you in the mountain of Urithuru regarding your endurance and faith in all your persecutions and the afflictions you endure. This is evidence of the just judgment of Honor, so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of Honor for which you are suffering. For it is surely just on Honor’s part to repay with afflictions those who are afflicting you, and to grant rest along with us to you who are undergoing afflictions, at the revelation of the Stormfather from the clouds with his loyal spren, in blazing fire, inflicting punishment on those who do not acknowledge Honor and on those who do not obey the will of the Knights Radiant. These will pay the penalty of eternal ruin, separated from the presence of Honor and from the glory of his power, when he comes to be glorified among his holy ones and to be marveled at on that day among all who have believed, for our testimony to you was believed. Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for because of these things the wrath of the Stormfather is coming upon the disobedient. So do not be associated with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Stormfather. Live as children of the light for light produces every kind of goodness and righteousness and truth. Try to learn what is pleasing to Honor. Take no part in the fruitless works of darkness; rather expose them, for it is shameful even to mention the things done by then in secret; but everything exposed by the light becomes visible. Magenta Albatross made my honest vote echo with insincerity. These servants of Odium are cowards; rather than letting their treacherous voice ring loud and clear; instead they are choosing to let the righteous squabble amongst themselves. This cannot stand, and we must make every effort to be steadfast in the Stormfather's light.

If I speak in human and angelic tongues but do not vote, I am a resounding gong or a clashing cymbal. And if I have the gift of prophecy, and comprehend all role distributions and all strategies: if I have all analysis so as to move mountains, but do not vote, I am nothing. If I sign in every day, and submit my actions every night, but do not vote, I gain nothing. Voting is important; voting is necessary. It is not trivial, is not superfluous. It is not frivolous. It is not complicated, it is not difficult to do, it is not misleading, it is not going to deceive us. It does not rejoice over misdirection but rejoices in the truth. It bears all discussion, starts all discussion, spurs all discussion, resolves all discussion. Voting never fails. If there is analysis, it will be brought to nothing. If there are PMs, they will cease. If discussion, it will be brought to nothing. For we know partially, and theorize partially, but when the perfect comes the partial will pass away. When I was a new player, I used to talk like a new player, think like a new player, reason like a new player; when I became an experienced player, I put aside my naivete. At present we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. At present we know partially; then we shall know fully, as we fully know our own roles. So analysis, discussion, voting remain, these three, but the greatest of these is voting. Pearl Chameleon/Purrl

Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of the Stormfather but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.

Coral Swan replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
A normal vote is typically a vote with the intention of getting someone to die. A poke vote is a vote with the intention to get someone to do something. In my case, I was using it to try to get Amethyst to post, but it can also be used in other ways, such as prompting someone to post analysis instead of fluff. I did think that due to their inactivity, they were a better lynch candidate, but I would have retracted my vote if I had seen their post.- 188 replies

I voted on Amethyst Scorpion last cycle as a poke vote. Given that they had not posted at the time of my vote, I assumed that people would know that I was using the same reason I had used in the first cycle. Mid-Range Game 37/Anonymous Game 6: An Empire is Falling
Coral Swan replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
There are 15 players, and if there were only villagers and eliminators, then there might be three or four eliminators. However, there are probably neutrals, so I think that there would not be as many eliminators. In addition, this is a blackout, so the eliminators have an advantage. Due to this, I think that there are probably only two or three eliminators. I would estimate the distribution as two to three eliminators, nine to twelve villagers, and one to three neutrals.- 188 replies
