    Nogard yelped and ducked the rock. "Because... It's the quest!" Nogard replied, somewhat perplexed. "It's the whole point of us being here."

    "We better get that goblin!"Nogard said, gasping. He picked up a rock and hurled it in the goblin leader's direction.

    Nogard brightened, scarfing down the muffin. "Thanks!" He looked upon the battle with renewed optimism. "Do you suppose," he mused, "we could steal the spear from that goblin?"

    Nogard's stomach rumbled as he watched the muffin fall, but he restrained himself.

    Nogard and the rest stumbled into a clearing up a hill overlooking the battle. Nogard took a moment to catch his breath. Then he noticed the spear. He sighed. "Of course."

    "Out of here," Nogard replied. "And to wherever the spear is."

    Nogard paused and hauled Yrank to his feet. "Come on," he panted. "Let's go."

    Nogard followed with haste.

    Nogard frowned. "I'm... not sure I understand."

    "You want to stay and fight that?" hissed Nogard.

    Nogard wiggled his left pinky.

    Nogard hmphed silently. "I'll count down from ten," he mouthed, holding his hands up.

    "We'll have a better chance if we all flee in different directions," whispered Nogard. "Hopefully they'll all get the idea."

    "Hey Shoe," whispered Nogard. "What say we run?"

    "Uh," said Nogard. "Would love to do that, really, but I'm a bit tied up at the moment."

    "Hello," mumbled Nogard sleepily. "You look very green."

    "Ow," said Nogard. "Aww, come on, not again-" He collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

    Nogard glanced over his shoulder, continuing to walk forward. "What's going on back there? Did someone- hey, Shoe, is that a muffin?"

    "Alright. Let's go." Nogard dismissed a sudden and inexplicable craving for muffins as he strode forward with confidence.

    Nogard gasped. "Was that... noise?"

    "Gah!" exclaimed Nogard. "Could've sworn you weren't there a second ago."

    Nogard blinked. "Huh. That came out of nowhere."

    "Nope," said Nogard as he followed the old man. "Are they a friend of yours?"
