    "Up there," said Tom, pointing at a screen that had just opened on the ceiling. Far, far, above hung a ship so massive it could hardly be comprehended. Wisps of cloud swirled around its pristine white surface, disguising it almost completely. "CloudBase," said Tom. "My home."

    The snake screamed, thrashing about as it tried to dislodge the offending sprite. Xinoehp ducked and dodged the flying coils as they crashed into the walls, ceiling and- CRACK The portal crystal shattered as the snake's head slammed into it. Within a few seconds, the entirety of its bulk had vanished through the now-open hole.

    Beams of sunlight split around the boat as it silently lifted into the air. "Now," said Tom, "we go home."

    Xinoehp swung open the door, jumped through- and bounced off a wall of solid crystal. The portal had been sealed. But behind them, there was a hissing. Xinoehp turned around to face the face of the giant elapine. "Uhhh..." he stuttered.

    "Yes," said Tom. "Yes, I do believe we are."

    Unfortunately, the portal was locked. "Curses!" cried Xinoehp. "How can we escape now?"

    Xinoehp drank the Caprisun and was revitalized. "To the portal!" he cried, throwing his hand out in a dramatic fashion.

    Xinoehp panted as he fled a giant elapine deep inside the Underworld. "Help!" he cried. "Somebody! Heeeelp!"

    Suddenly, the music began to glitch out. Distantly, voices could be heard.

    The handerfles rioted. They rampaged through every passage and chamber, ripping and destroying whatever they could get their hands on. Red warning lights popped up throughout the cabin. Tom dispatched them with small flicks of his fingers and wrists, keeping his attention focused on the screen where Samika stood. The ship was almost to the falls; would she make a move? ------- Rorim huddled in his hideout, watching the chaos outside. Never had he been so glad for Tom's constant control over him. His resistance to Tom's control of his brother, Arsek, now seemed silly. What if he died? He couldn't transfer to the Cognitive Realm- Tom had given his Portal Key to the half-handerfle. With no-one waiting to catch his soul, death now would be permanent. He wasn't religious, but he shot a prayer to every god he'd heard of. Just in case. ------- Samika wailed. "I know you have it, Tami! You can't hide it from me! You can't hide from meeeee!" The ship slid into the falls. White spray obstructed the view on near-every screen for a few seconds, and the crashing of the water obscured every other sound. Then it was over. And Samika was gone.

    Fine, then. I'll go watch what Xinoehp's doing, if you're going to be that way. "Duck!" screamed Xinoehp as four Bladed Potatoes whizzed over his head.

    Xinoehp couldn't understand what he said, but the gesture made it pretty clear. So he entered the portal.

    Ha ha. Very funny. "Oh, well. Unless she knows how to speak Breadmunk, I'm not particularly interested in knowing where she is." Xinoehp sighed and looked at the breadmunk. "Do you know where to find someone who speaks both languages?"

    Tom shrugged. "I'd go back to where you last saw her and track her from there."

    Tom shook his head, worried. She'd been out in the chaos; who knew what had happened to her? Xino let out a sigh of relief. "That's good," he said. "We've got enough problems as is..." All of sudden, Tom snapped from his reverie. "Ah, where were we?"

    Draug sat back, stunned. They had the same restrictions on magic... but they had overcome them. They had freed themselves from the walls that bound them! Could he, maybe, do the same? "Are you in contact with Jamie, then?" he asked, making a mental note to ask her about the idea later.

    Tom shook his head. "Not possible. Thread opposition, remember? The only reason Butt was able to fuse was because 1. he went over before the worlds fully split, 2. the Narrative matrix there is trashed, and 3. the idea of Butt Venture is tied to that universe." Xino lowered his sword uncertaintly. "Star?" he asked. "Are you alright?"

    I know. But I like 'Xino' better than 'Xineo'. Unfortunately, Xinoehp didn't know Breadmunk. Some breadmunks knew English, but Fredley wasn't one of them.
