    Edahs nearly howled in frustration. The prisoner knew nothing! How was he supposed to do anything when no-one knew anything? He shot a dark look at the strange thing in the center of the room. He flicked a few drops of shadow-acid at it angrily. @Sorana

    "We can bring him onto the ship. It won't be that hard." He sighed. "But yes, he frightens me too," he admitted. "But he has what he wants, now. I think. He has no reason to harm us." Tom shook his head. "If the serum isn't working, it's because it wasn't potent enough." He pulled out another vial. This one was red, too, but... more so. A deeper, richer, red. "This will heal her," he said. "Every scrape and burn, every loss and mistake. More powerful than any other serum I have ever created."

    Tom shot a look over at the other Tom. He was bending over what had been Shadow and muttering something. Tom stood up. "I think I got it," he said, holding up a small crystal with a pulsating ball of darkness inside of it. "I haven't had to do that in a long, long time." He sighed, pocketing the crystal and pulling out a vial of red serum. "Now let's see if this does any good." He uncorked it, kneeling down to give it to her. "Simple! We bring you, Tamika, neo-Shadow, and the other copy of Shadow, and show them to Silence. He should be able to tell we're telling the truth."

    "Silence is determined not to let you recover Butt. He's not going to stop at anything short of complete eradication." Tom turned towards Star, an excited gleam in his eye. "But the main reason he feels that way is because of his supposedly unconventional Ascension. If we show that it wasn't unconventional, he has no excuse to keep him trapped!"

    "You split. Just like she split from Shadow." He gestured at Heather. "She's not a Narrator anymore. But the important thing is that she was. And we can prove it."

    "You. Butt. Shadow." He pointed to each in turn, a flickering hologram of Butt appearing when he said his name. "Earlier, when you merged with Thought, you thought she was taking you over. But she was you before, wasn't she? And Shadow was... whatever her name, this new character's name is." He began to pace again. "Just a coincidence, perhaps. Only- not. Because then we have him." He pointed to Butt again. "He is Butt Venture the character, just like you two were your own characters. And that makes me wonder- what if it's not just you three? What if every Narrator is just some sort of ascended character? "Before, I thought we had no hope for poor Butt. But now... now, I think we do."

    Above Shadow/Heather, a flickering Shadow appeared for a moment, malevolent and dark. Tom opened his mouth, furrowed his brow, then closed it again. Tom took a step back in astonishment. "A withergeist? What? How...?" Xino gasped as an echo of the truth rippled across his long-forgotten senses. "A character? Not a Narrator? But..." Tom began to pace, muttering to himself. "Tamika... Star... the Shard of Thought? No... Wait! And Butt, of course... One is an accident. Two is a coincidence. But three..." he turned, a gleam in his eye. "Three is a pattern."
