    Someone has contacted me declaring themselves willing to contribute a defense to the village. Assuming we lynch a villager today, that leaves us with one additional defense required in order to stave off the chalklings.

    Xinoehp snorted. "What would you know about that? You're just a pale echo of Star. You say the same things, you think the same way, but you've got no more beneath the surface than a reflection in water. Why would you think you had any right to speak in such a way?"

    Xinoehp choked with laughter. "Silence? Our enemy? Our fight? What's he ever done to us?"

    Xinoehp growled in frustration. "What do you propose we do, then?" he spat. "Because I'm not about to sit around and wait for things to get better."

    "Why not, SoT? Whom else's would it be?" He shot a glare at the demon. "What makes you think we're willing to pay your price, demon?"

    Xinoehp smirked as the illusion faded. "I'm not Xino, BoS." He stood up slowly, repressed rage evident in every inch of his frame. "My name," he said, "is Xinoehp. Narrator Xinoehp. And you will regret messing with me." Stone began to rumble. Slowly, every so slowly, he raised his hands. "Begone!" he shouted. With a mighty blast, the volcano exploded.

    Xino picked her up. "Come on, Star, let's get back to the portal. We need to get out of here."

    "I'm afraid it's not your choice," said Xino incinerating the rest of the hatchets, then shooting her with a stun blast from his sword.

    Xinoehp snorted. "Being trapped in this world with you is suffering enough."

    Xinoehp sighed, incinerating each hatchet with a blast from his sword. "As much as I hate to admit it, you are in fact correct. There are more important people to rescue. Unfortunately, rescuing one of them requires you. So we will be taking you with us."

    The eel hit the side of the volcano with a sad splat. "I wouldn't call that suffering," said Xinoehp.

    "SoT, that isn't Heather. That's not even Shadow. That's BoS."

    "BoS has no heart. She's the cast-off darkness of a character with serious morality issues." Xino took another bite of popcorn. "Her attacks were meant to destroy us, even if she knew she had no hope of succeeding. I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for her."

    Xinoehp watched and cheered as the Kraken swallowed BoS whole.

    Xinoehp took out some popcorn and began munching on it.

    "Star and Xino. We're here to rescue you."

    Draug picked out the highschool where prom was at from his vantage point. He'd visited there once or twice in the past few weeks, just to see where it was. He hadn't gone today either. The others didn't want him watching over them; they felt safe. Voidbringers hadn't made any attacks at all for the last two weeks- there hadn't even been a sighting. Why would they change now? Draug agreed with them, sort of. It was unlikely an attack would come. But he'd made them all take at least a little Stormlight, just in case.
