The creature laughed, fiery venom dripping from its fangs. "You think you can outspeed us? Here, in our home?"
  2. Gerald accepted one gratefully. He then hung their awkwardly, uncertain of what to do next.
  3. Gerald looked at the marshmallows somewhat enviously.

"Not so confident now, are we?" hissed the larger creature.
  5. "...oh," said Gerald, gazing at his charred marshmallow. "Whoops." He tried another, careful not to stick it in the flames this time.
  6. Gerald blew his out. "Didn't you say that wasn't a problem?" he asked puzzledly.
  7. "Ah, okay," said Gerald, sticking his new marshmallow directly at the base to light it on fire.
  8. Gerald carefully dunked the marshmallow in the bucket of saltwater from his arm. "Like so?"
  9. "Tautologies are true," agreed Gerald. "It's... not supposed to be burning, is it?"
  10. "Don't worry, I'm pretty sure this is a railroad spike," replied Gerald. "It's not the murdery kind."
  11. Gerald reached into his arm and pulled out a long, dangerous-looking spike. He took a marshmallow, carefully placed it on the spike, and held it over the fire. "Like this?"
  12. "I want to learn what all the fuss is about these 's'mores'" said Gerald.
  13. "I wonder if an elephant would fit in this?" mused Gerald, looking thoughtfully at his arm.

The creature hissed again, revealing a pair of beyond-razor-sharp fangs. A drop of some sort of liquid fell off the tooth, leaving a scorch mark on the ground below.
  15. Psyder resummons the mordite dagger to his hand, hiding in a shadow created by Nath's light. Meanwhile, the fox roars as it sights its prey once more, charging up for another blast of silver light. @Nathrangking
  16. "Dessert?" asked Gerald curiously. "Didn't we have ice cream earlier?"
  17. Cynthia holds her stance as Jared stands back up. As she does, she takes in every detail of his movement, searching for weaknesses. He's hurt, she suddenly realized as she watched him struggle to his feet. My blade did strike him. That was good news. At full power, Jared was almost certainly her match and more. If he was weakened, the likelihood of her defeating him was that more much likely. In fact, if she'd gotten really lucky- A piece of paper, disturbed by the wind, fluttered across her vision. She glanced at it, curious- then snapped her eyes back, snatching it out of the air. A photograph of a familiar face. Selene? she thought in shock. A quick glance at the floor revealed the source of the photograph- a folder of various sheets of paper now strewn on the floor. She made a gesture with her hand, and the papers lifted into the air on the wind. Scanning the document, she sighs. Stupid girl, she thinks. What has she gotten herself into this time? She glances up at Jared, who - despite his heavy breathing and clear wound in his chest - looks far from being defeated. Another sigh escapes her lips. I suppose I don't have enough time to finish him off, do I? Jared could always be tracked down and killed later; if Selene were to suffer such a fate, Cynthia's plan would become vastly more difficult. With a final sneer, Cynthia jumps, using the winds to break the window and lift her away.

A deep growl came from above. With a thud, a much larger specimen dropped to the ground besides her.
  19. "The sky isn't totally clear," said Gerald, pointing to a cloudbank on the horizon.
  20. X was irritated at this challenge to his authority.

The punched one let out a howl of pain. The others moved as a swarm over Trylle, their claws scrabbling at her flesh.
  22. Which was a bit of a headscratcher, since Kelsier wasn't a Shard.
