  1. Through the entryway in front of her, she could see a glimpse of cages and flickering candlelight. She could hear the chanting of the pale-skinned man as he readied another sacrifice. A guard stepped up, blocking the entryway, holding a sword in warning.
  2. The woman grunted, pulling withergeists into herself. She stood up, throwing Pyk off of her and into a nearby wall. The man screamed in agony as electricity flowed through him. His strike jerked to the side slightly, still on target to pierce Cricket's shoulder.
  3. The withergeist shrieked and fell apart, fleeing. More withergeists pressed forward in its place, their whispers burrowing into Beosta's skull. The man pushed himself up, attempting to stab Cricket with the sword. The woman ducked at the last possible moment, letting Pyk fly past her. @Sequence, @The sarcasm spren if you're wondering what to do: Withergeists swarmed the remaining fighters, trying to force their way inside. Remember, hissed one of the withergeists to Sequence. Let us in.
  4. Uh, we'll see. The man fell forward onto Cricket, attempting to pin him against the ground.
  5. The woman parried his strike and counter-attacked.
  6. Onyx would presume the connection was not desirable, considering what went down earlier, and not allow it. What is it that you are trying to do? Wasn't Tenth Square fighting with the woman? The man growled, spinning clumsily to try and catch Cricket with his sword.
  7. No, you have to go through some tunnels first to get to that part.
  8. "Madness cannot affect you in my realm," said Onyx with the tone of finality. The cage was locked shut, and guards were standing next to it. If he were alone, Shoe could probably find a way to force the lock open- it didn't look particularly secure- but it would be tricky to do without catching the attention of the guards. The man accepted the hit without fear, striking forwards with his mordite blade at Cricket's chest. The hole dropped down into the basement, which was dark and damp and filled with withergeists. They hissed up at Beosta as she entered.
  9. The man inhaled, and withergeists flowed into him. His wounds began to heal over.
  10. The sword bit into the backpack, slicing it. The man was thrown off-balance and stumbled. The man grunted. As Beosta watched, his wounds began to heal over. He swung his sword in her direction.
  11. Ahh. Well, the guards are in the room for the most part, and there isn't a door. It's guarded by there being lots and lots of withergeists that will eat anyone who tries to pass through. I will up the defenses if I need to to keep you out. We've got to give Beosta a chance! I know, but we can't have the whole fight without Beosta!
  12. Pyk was finding it very difficult to do these things while not being in the same room as the guards and the cages. There was a loud tearing sound and a wash of cold... ...and then it was gone, and the man was saying something that sounded an awful lot like cursing. He stalked over to one of the cages and pulled another person out. A young man, this time. He struggled as he was taken, but vines wrapped around him and immobilized him. The man dragged him to the altar, ignoring the screams, and began the ritual over again.
  13. Withergeists are also insubstantial. This basement room is very heavily guarded.
  14. Before Pyk could follow the man who had kidnapped Shoe, he would have to get through the mass of withergeists filling the basement and surrounding the room on all sides. The man muttered something in a language Shoe didn't recognize, all rasping hisses and guttural cries. Dark runes glowed to life around the altar. He raised his sword. "Great One!" cried the man, withergeists swirling around him. "Dark Lord of the Fallen, hear our cries! Grace this world with thy presence once again!" He brought the sword down sharply. The woman jerked once and went still.
  15. Correct. The man dragged Shoe through the basement. How he was moving while entirely cocooned in vines, Shoe couldn't tell. Eventually, the cocoon burst open, revealing a dimly lit room filled with cages. Several people were huddled within them. It seemed that the pale-skinned man had not entirely lied about the remainder of the survivors being gathered here. The man pulled open one of the cages and threw Shoe inside. "Watch out," he warned the guards. "We may be getting rescuers. Do not allow anyone to interrupt the ritual." With that, he strode to the center of the room, where a woman lay unconscious on the altar. He can have attacked the two new people, then. The woman flicked her sword to meet the Nullite fragment, slicing through it with some effort. Uh I don't think a cut from nullite-reinforced metal is enough to turn someone into an Ennuller. The man turned and swung at Cricket with his sword. He didn't seem to mind much the dagger sticking out of his back.
  16. The man is under the ground now, totally cocooned in vines. Nobody is allowed to follow him
  17. They are still cocooned in vines, so there isn't really a place to launch Shoe to... The man slashed the pieces of the mech and katana until they were broken and shattered to uselessness. There are a bunch of pieces of nullite-reinforced materials in the cocoon at the moment; he wouldn't be able to insubstantiate his way through that.
  18. The man flicked his sword and deflected the knife. The light struck the two people without seeming to bother either of them much. Also @SpiritOfWrath did you need a summary of Everyone's conversation with Onyx?
  19. Yep. The man jerked his mordite blade through the mech as it attempted to form, disrupting it. Two people, a man and a woman, burst from the basement right before it closed. Both were armed with swords that exuded a dark power. The actual fight! He did.
  20. The man lowered himself into the basement and covered his retreat with a whole bunch of withergeists.
  21. The man jerked Shoe, and the light blade pierced his shoulder. A tide of withergeists erupted from the hole, hissing as they scoured Tenth's armor for the slightest crack, withering as they went. The man fell into the darkness below, vanishing from sight. Some vines reacted to the knock, wrapping around whatever was there.
  22. Can't portal- the town is dimensionally locked. The vines form a full dome around Shoe and the man, preventing Tenth from reaching him. The withergeists move as though through molasses, but the force that compels them is greater than their fear of light. He's standing in the doorway though
  23. The vines part as she slices them, but more continue to grow around the man, faster than they can be sliced away. Withergeists press up against Asher, fighting against the light as they attempt to wither her.
  24. The man encased himself and Shoe entirely in vines, backing up into the mansion. The withergeists began withering away the Cricket Mech 2000. The fire doesn't seem to burn the black vines.
  25. "I don't suppose you would like what would happen in that eventuality." The man growled, and the withergeists attacked, attempting to wither Cricket. The man began to surround himself in vines. Attack them, he sent to Salem's withergeist. They cannot be allowed to interrupt the ritual! No, probably not. But there are vines absolutely everywhere that take up physical space.
