  1. "Well, I think it might have something to do with my Author. Hmm. Perhaps if you asked Subversion, you could figure it out?" "The defense is ready to begin!" announced Selppaenip. "I don't have a name," said the woman warily. "I am called Survivor 656." Charles nodded. Very well. How do you plan to remove it? Nogard watched the proceedings with bated breath. I do not imagine that you have to kill him, much as you might wish to see him dead. There are many ways to resolve conflicts.
  2. Before making a full recovery, I hope? "Ah, of course," said Selppaenip, not understanding in the slightest. "With my memory? I'm not sure. Or did you mean traveler-Subversion? I'm also not sure. I don't know if I fully understand her concerns..." Onyx answers that it is simply the way things are that if one uses Narration within his realm, it will be drained away. He also warns against using excessive force within his realm.
  3. The letter was absent of tips on how to be a Narrator. Presumably, Onyx figured that it would come naturally. "Safe? How can you be safe?" "ABF?" "AGFM?" Well, now that you know what it is, what are you going to do about it? "You'll have to forgive me," said Bacon thoughtfully. "For some reason, my memory seems to be on the fritz. Did you say you have an answer?"
  4. As in, someone calling themselves Malan the Master, the One who is Seven, showed up and vanished a few people? The woman's face filled with apprehension. "You're... a Narrator?" "I'm ready!" declared Seppaenip. Onyx wrote a return letter detailing the nature of Narrative Cores and how they enable Narrators to re-write reality.
  5. "Indeed. I take my unseriousness quite seriously." The other guest watched Subversion perform this with a mixture of awe and apprehension. "Very well!" declared Selppaenip. "Wise Judge?" He strode off. The doctor hummed a quick tune, her expression becoming briefly distant. Available information?
  6. "I'm sure we'll find someone who knows the answer soon!" There were several puzzles of various varieties. Selppaenip followed ... with gusto. It doesn't have to be your name. The name of someone you worked with, or the name of this threat... anything. "Well, if there's one thing I'm serious about, it's about not being serious!"
  7. "You mean, am I concerned about being fictional? No, not particularly. I don't know if you can tell, but I'm not a very serious character." She found herself unable to use Narration. "I am ready to face all challenges!" declared Selppaenip.
  8. Prisoner. Do you remember any other names? Excellent. I will schedule an appointment. We'll inform you when we need you. Until then, you can stay in one of our guest rooms. "Ah, right." Bacon sighed. "Answers that nobody seems to have."
  9. Bacon sighed, then frowned. "What were we talking about again?" Do you know the name of this entity, or your own name? Any identifying information you could convey about what you were doing could help us find who you were and what did this to you. Please do. Especially if you think you will be a danger to others, as you have expressed. The Ennuller handed her a sheaf of paperwork. You'll need to fill this out with Narration, to bind your essence to it.
  10. "Well, nice to meet you, Parchment!" I see, said Charles thoughtfully. Tenth, what do you think? Is this related to the rogue Ennuller who attacked your host? We have him in custody. Hmm. If you have need of therapy, we have several doctors who specialize in that field. Yes.
  11. Who are you? Who did this to you? "Hmm. Parchment, perhaps?" Cricket's conversation echoed in his mindscape. The doctor frowned. Who is that?
  12. You are in a safe place, said the doctor in a soothing voice. What do you remember? "Sandy?" suggested Bacon. Limits on how and when you can use your Narration, mostly. The doctor frowned. Hmm. That's not good. The corruption has spread into the core.
  13. How much do you want this wound to stick around? ...the Nullite is causing chaos. Charles's voice was extremely skeptical. Are you certain you would be willing to accept the restrictions necessary to participate in such a program? Narrators in their natural state are a good deal from safe. Lost soul. Follower of Silence. I am a surgeon of the Silent Halls. Do you remember yourself? Look, sometimes you've got to read a book "My name is Bacon the Bard. What's yours?"
  14. Well, fortunately it doesn't seem this wound has spread enough such that removing it directly would be problematic. The doctor screwed up his face in concentration, isolating and slicing away the infected essence. "'All?' Bacon laughed sardonically. "Yes, that's all. Only locked in that awful castle for a couple hundred years- or more- with just Onyx for company. Hardly a punishment at all!" "Ah yes! Did you have a name?"
  15. The Ennuller that was fused to your soul. This is not their perspective, but yours. "Eof said there was someone who knew. Or someone who needed to learn? It was all very confusing and quite unhelpful. Thank you for being helpful, by the way." Interesting, said the doctor. It is of chaotic darkness, certainly. You are familiar with withergeist-corruption injuries, I believe?
  16. "An answer that will convince Subversion that our existence is worth it, I guess." The Ennuller frowned and extended a hand, pouring power into the wound to freeze it into stasis. So what is it in Tenth that is upsetting the balance? "Lock me up," said Bacon glumly. "For goodness knows how long..." Not often, admitted the Ennuller. Are you volunteering your services? The doctor waved her hand. Yes, yes. The important thing is that this is how you see the power. What of the soul within you?
  17. The doctor inspected Sequence, eyes lingering on the wound. A nasty wound indeed. Mordite? "I need the answer!" said Bacon desperately. "Otherwise Subversion is going to 'deal with' Nogard, and then I'm in huge trouble!" We are always training, yes.
  18. Perhaps, said the doctor slowly. Is this how you perceive your abilities? A destructive power? I am. Would you like me to come inside? Somehow I doubt you will tell me for free. The Ennuller gave Subversion a look and didn't say anything. Bacon blinked. "Wait, come back!"
  19. Bacon sighed. "Well, do you know anyone who does have an answer? Apparently there's someone who's supposed to know. Eof was annoyingly cryptic about it." We're looking for the fused soul, explained the doctor. It will be represented here in some way. ...whatever you intend to use it for, of course. I should think that would be self-evident. Charles shook his head. I don't like this. Narrators are very rarely trustworthy. We'll take the crystal back to the Silent Halls and study it there. Well, it would, if they weren't currently being cloaked by Charles Charles narrowed his eyes. Well, if you don't think she needs assistance urgently, said the doctor, I suppose I could come back later.
  20. "Is that a maybe?" Bacon asked hopefully. The Ennuller filed the form. A few moments later, a doctor arrived at Sequence's location. @Ookla the Inarticulate Charles's frown deepened. Tenth, are you familiar with a Narrator known as 'The Scribe'? He felt himself sliding towards not-quite-sleep... ...and awoke in his dreamscape. I'll let you describe what that looks like.
  21. Charles read the note and frowned. Who are you? he called. Bacon looked at the sand person glumly. "I don't suppose you know how to convince her?" You may requisition a doctor. The Ennuller handed them both requisition forms.
  22. Perhaps this Wriulin will have the answer. "Is she having any success?"
  23. The Ennuller gave Cricket a strange look, but left the room. Close your eyes, the doctor instructed. Bacon very nearly said a bad word. Ex-Narrators are treated the same as any normal character. Which is to say, very rarely allowed to leave. Let's go with the consensus So this is the contaminant within you. Bacon showed up. "Psst," he whispered to Tam. "What're we doing?" @Ookla the Inconclusive
  24. The Ennuller frowned as the doctor directed Cricket to lay down on the table. What is the rush?
  25. I will submit your request for transfer. But first, your health checkup. The Ennuller led him to the infirmary. Bacon clapped appreciatively. I did see it, but it's tricky for me to respond to- the plotline can't actually advance in certain ways at this time. I suppose I can make a response. "It has been five minutes," said Reven.
