  1. I agree that there's a pretty strong connection, but unlike the Honor/The Almighty, Austre is not Endowment. Rather, he's based off of a Returned:
  2. We're not sure what Heightening Vasher is currently at, so the effect may be too small for a non-Awakener to notice. Also, as a Returned, he has the ability to modify his appearance and suppress his Breath, so he may be pulling some shenanigans with that.
  3. It is not possible to Awaken aluminum because it is "inert" and resists all magical attempts to change it:
  4. Oathbringer spoilers:
  5. That would kind of be like their own pseudo-steel bubble.
  6. The Arcanum is awesome! Thanks to the hard work of a lot of people here (not me), we have access to basically everything Brandon's ever said about the Cosmere.
  7. This is false. The spren on Roshar are definitely splinters. They are generally a mixture of both Honor and Cultivation. The Honorblades are also splinters of Honor, but they are not the only ones.
  8. All you have to do is sign up for Brandon's newsletter. They'll send you the Prose directly. Welcome to the Shard!
  9. Oops. I guess our turn is over (stupid timers not working). Blue Team - your turn.
  10. Definitely check out the Coppermind: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Hoid. You can also check out Arcanum for a collection of quotes from Brandon about Hoid: https://wob.coppermind.net/adv_search/?tags=hoid.
  11. I thought that Oathbringer was partly buried due to its momentum from falling, not that it continued to inch downward after the initial impact. Shard blades may have perfect cutting edges, but their sides still produce friction (see the Last Clasp), not to mention that most (all?) of them have crossguards.
  12. Those sound like they could be from an automated building process (i.e. HARRE). There's no incentive for the auto factory to complete the assembly process because there's no performance benefit (vice human desire for things to look good from an aesthetic perspective). Still on board the DE band wagon though (the first thing the aliens would do in the event of war would be steal the humans tech).
  13. A severe enough head wound may not leave him with the presence of mind to take action. Or we could be talking about someone like Miles, who wouldn't have the strength to do that.
  14. I wonder what would happen if you put a whole bunch of hollow point bullets in a compounding Bloodmaker's head. Sure, their body would start healing insanely fast, but it would leave a lot of foreign objects inside the skull. We know from Oathbringer that head wounds can mess with your cognition even if you're healing: If you put enough metal in someone's head, and they weren't able to get it out, what happens to the brain matter that gets displaced? Does it just not heal back?
  15. I think we got all of our previous clues except for "Two 2". I think that Shai/Bloodsealer is most likely and then maybe the Inquisitor chart? We only have 1 extra guess.
  16. Yes, Dalinar is awful at politics. He seems to have contracted the Stark family affliction where he values honor and honesty so highly, even when it results in all of his plans failing and the people he loves dying. However, he does have Navani and now Jasnah to help guide him. @Diomedes You don't need to put [OB] in the title anymore - the 9 month spoiler period ended on August 14th.
  17. The WoB about Brandon likely backtracking on Savantism is more recent than the Alloy of Law annotations. The WoB also says that he was supposed to be a savant of both powers (which also conflicts with the annotations which specify only steel. So basically, we don't have any idea what Wax is. Maybe Brandon doesn't either. Being a Savant comes with benefits as well as drawbacks. So if a person wanted the benefits enough, they would be willing to bear the side effects (or risk them, if they didn't know what they were).
  18. Good question! I think it has to come from Ruin. I don't think it would make sense for Atium compounding to draw from Preservation, as it's a different Shard's godmetal. P.s. Welcome to the Shard! Double posting is not allowed (see the forum rules in the Welcome Post). If you want to modify or add to your previous post, use the edit button.
  19. It's pretty clear that the clue is for D3 - Ironeyes. @Cadmium Compounder @Inklingspren @Herowannabe @Kal-Eldin - any thoughts about our extra guess?
  20. Trying to keep it spoiler free just in case (the story can be found on Brandon's website): It's about a man name Jason who has supernatural abilities (called Cyto) who works for the "Phone Company," an extra judicial organization who was the first to discover FTL comms, make contact with the alien races, and the only humans who have access to Cyto. He's sent to retrieve a Phone Company researcher who has been stricken with a strange form of madness, but ends up being pursued by an unknown assailant.
  21. Nice catch! I didn't even make that connection.
  22. If you had a Slider friend who also wanted to be a savant, you could both put up your bubbles, which would mostly cancel out. They you could both burn/flare your metals nonstop. It would be very expensive, given the cost of Bendalloy.
  23. We have a brand new WoB that all but confirms that Defending Elysium is the novella:
  24. Re-Shephir had previously been captured by a Lightweaver. That is why she was so afraid of Shallan in Oathbringer.
  25. I imagine he wasn't buried enough that he couldn't breathe - we don't have any indication that Sandmastery can accomplish anything of that sort. You can get the Prose version of White Sand by signing up for Brandon's newsletter. We are not allowed to give out copies to people directly.
