game Cosmere Codenames
Scion of the Mists replied to Herowannabe's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
The blue team's turn is over - @I am a STICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, it's our turn now (likely our last turn, as the blue team has gotten all their agents). We still have to get 3 more agents and the Assassin. -
I don't think we have any indication that Frost is working with the 17th Shard. As a very old and powerful being (and a dragon!) Frost likely has many abilities, one of which could be peering into the Spiritual Realm, which is an ability that multiple characters have demonstrated. Edit: As Weltall pointed out, there is some sort of connection between the two, as detailed in Hoid's letter, but it seems somewhat loose. As far as more information about the 17th Shard goes, here's what we got: From the Coppermind (the Cosmere Wikipedia): https://coppermind.net/wiki/Seventeenth_Shard From the Arcanum (a collection of basically everything Brandon's said): https://wob.coppermind.net/adv_search/?tags=seventeenth+shard

So, I think everyone was operating under the impression that the only way to get the prose version was to sign up for Brandon's newsletter - we weren't allowed to share it directly. However, at the San Diego signing, Brandon said otherwise. Is this a change?

Oh, I totally missed that post and was really confused. I think that Felt as a Dragon has the same issue as Felt as a Kandra. If you can shapeshift, why would you stand out at all?
-
What's this about a dragon's wife?

The Arcanum is actually really easy to use. You can just put "hoid+dragon" into the search bar and it points you directly to the WoB that @Wandering Investor cited.

Speed Bubble in an Aluminum Box?
Scion of the Mists replied to StoneWalker's question in Cosmere Q&A
There's a delay between bubbles. Also the ability to react during the tiny amount of time it takes a bullet to go a couple of feet.- 10 replies

That guess didn't count since our turn was immediately over once the Sarene guess was incorrect. -

Since our turn is almost over, I'm also going to guess E3 - Shai/Bloodsealer. -

Yeah, like Nathrangking posted, the Coppermind is a great resource for these kind of questions. It's basically the Cosmere version of Wikipedia. Chiri-Chiri is a Larkin, a very rare species native to Aimia that has the ability to drain Investiture. Whether or not they're considered cremlings is actually a tricky question because, while they're distinct from "normal" cremlings, that's the phrase that Rosharans use for all small animals.

There's been a lot of good discussion about Adolin and Maya on the forums. [THEORY] Lightweavers and Truthwatchers
Scion of the Mists replied to animalia's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think the reason that Lightweavers and Truthwatchers are next to each other on the Radiant Chart is that they share a Surge: Illumination.- 8 replies

These seem like fairly tenuous connections that you could make between any of the Shards: Honor was trying to "Preserve" humanity (by not letting them get wiped out), the Nightwatcher offered Dalinar a "Ruinous" blade, Cultivation clearly has a very "Ambitious" plan, etc.

I've always imagined it as similar to the refraction (i.e. deflections things undergo when changing medium). Like how light bends when entering water. Plus it acts as a necessary nerf to speed bubbles (otherwise you could freeze time and line up perfect shots on all of the enemies without them being able to react). As far as aluminum bullets, I think that they'd either "pop" the bubble or would be affected by the deflection (because the Investiture isn't directly affecting it, it's more a byproduct of the magical effect).

B3 is Queen Fen. I agree with F3 (Sarene). I think E2 (Hrathen) is more likely than E3 (Shai/Bloodsealer) for the Elantrian clue. However, don't we still have some remaining on our "Two" clue? -
Odium just wants to be top dog. He's doing that by eliminating the other Shards (by splintering them). He doesn't want to absorb their power because that would fundamentally change him. He is specifically targeting Shards he sees as having broken their pact and Shards that could be a threat to him. For example, Ambition was number one on his hit list due to the Shard's Intent (makes sense that he'd think Ambition would be his #1 rival). However, he couldn't find him at first, so he went after Dominion/Devotion who settled on the same planet (and thus breaking the pact, in his mind).
-
The reason why Odium's champion felt familiar to Dalinar is because it was Dalinar. And he would have gotten away with it too, if not for that meddling Cultivation.

They are a completely separate race. See the Coppermind entry: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Sleepless.

Elhokar (spoilers for oathbringer)
Scion of the Mists replied to sonoskay's topic in Stormlight Archive
I would guess that yes it is possible to form a new Shard from bits of other ones (although I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the case). However, Dalinar is not nearly Invested enough by Cultivation/Odium (is he even Invested by them at all?) to form a tri-shard. The Lord Ruler had enough of Preservation's power to literally move planets, but that's just a drop in the bucket of the entire Shard's power - he's only considered a Sliver. -
What if no one is Odium's champion, now or ever?

@Weltall Yeah, I agree with everything you're saying - I just really like that scene and felt obliged to point it out. -

Don't forget that we're playing the the Eightball variant, so you need to get the Assassin in White in addition to all of your agents. -
The Sibling is Cusicesh? (and also unmade?)
Scion of the Mists replied to Themasterhunter's question in Cosmere Q&A
Cusicesh is definitely not the Sibling. There are some theories that it's related to an Unmade. -
I think that torturing/murdering innocent people in a hospital matches Vedel much better. I don't know that there's a super great connection between Chana and Liss, but we know where most of the other female Heralds are and Liss stands out as being pretty unique.

Scion of the Mists replied to Ripheus23's topic in Stormlight Archive
I agree that Dalinar (and really all of humanity) is at a huge disadvantage going up against a Shard. However, Dalinar did not almost free Odium. Odium states that Intent matters in these types of things - he was just messing with Dalinar.
