The Art of Game Creation
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I think Alvron's Zombie QF 38 had the most in-thread actions. There were some problems with making sure everybody could be around to use those actions for timed events. and the gun from Jondesu's MR 26 was also in thread. Probably there are more I don't remember. -
Mid-Range Game 56: Day of Reckoning
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
I do feel like the elim team would have asked about the OoA if they were going to have e!Mat submit the kill, and would have had someone else do it to be safe if it got PAFO'd. And also that TJ having the exe roleblock kills and refusing to tell the elims about it is cruel. Exactly one elim Epic would give me an instant lose condition that I'm not a fan of, but I guess in this distribution I'm just evil. If it was like that game, then Ash would be asking about my role name because he's planning to say that actually, Devotary's lying, I have the Epic Hunter role, here's it's real name, powers, and win con. This time, dying like that would be funny. Can you only steal Epic powers, not abilites like mine or Mat's? And in the game where you would tie him, TJ decides whether to break your streak. I don't think he directly talked to Mat, I just think it would be very strange if he said this and then switched his action such that Mat never got any questions at all. That's where the idea of the role piece that he's revealed to us being passive with the distinct possibility that he could do something else as an action(obscure, revive, etc.) comes in. If there was a requirement for answers to be honest I'd have expected that to be included in the role description. Thaidakar claimed immunity to Epic powers I believe but I can't imagine that would stop an elim kill so it's not that E!Archer thinks this is the only way to kill v!Thaidakar.- 1557 replies

Mid-Range Game 56: Day of Reckoning
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thinking that he could just say 'the exe target' and not have to specify who it was. Archer saying 'it only works on one person' when 'pick one' was one of the options is making me lean towards passive and possibly random. And Archer said he just had to submit three questions without mentioning an action so that's another point towards passive. This part is where it looks like Archer talked to Mat. If the questions were an action that were submitted C2 and wouldn't reach Mat until C3 I don't think Archer would have said this, especially if he was then going to cancel his action and use a scanning item instead. Questions submitted for free C2 that Mat has the cycle to answer and would then get back to Archer at the beginning of C3 is more plausible for telling-the-truth!Archer.- 1557 replies

You should be calling that out because even though I am annoyed to be voted on, I shouldn't be expressing that in a way that suggests something about my alignment. Although as you've mentioned those feelings could be real as a neutral or as an elim/converter.- 1557 replies

Mid-Range Game 56: Day of Reckoning
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
Archer said he did talk to Mat, and further implied that the questions had been submitted. If the talking to the dead does require an action, I assume it's submit an action C1 to talk to e.g. the C1 exe target, or a random person who died, which means he could have asked Karn questions C2. If it's passive then he could definitely ask Karn questions C2 and use an item. A passive role doesn't necessarily have to include an active part which would explain the basically vanilla claim, but it definitely could since Stick appears to have an active and passive part of her role.- 1557 replies

Mid-Range Game 56: Day of Reckoning
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yes. I only learn Epic or not an Epic, not what they can do, and a role like Mat's would show up as non-Epic. If it's not just a complete wash, then maybe no flips on an exe, no flips until cycle X, or Y event (GM decided, elims kill someone, etc.) happens. I can scan TUA if you think there aren't any regulars. I don't have infinite kills but I can get at least one more. I'm not giving you all the details but I need to kill Epics and want the village to win as well. TJ PAFO'd whether my kill or the elim kill would reveal alignment. I doubt that would be necessary. Karnatheon was a Rioter, so presumably move a vote from them to me, cancelling their own vote in the process. That adds up with the vote count, one vote on Karnatheon removed, Karnatheon's vote on me removed and replaced with someone who was voting on them. Absolutely not. I could just kill any Epic that moved since there's so many of them that most of them have to be village. I have a scan because I only have a limited number of shots, not enough to kill someone every cycle. Do you think obscurement would then be a role or an action that any elim can choose to take? Most of what I can do is vote. I'm not going to vote for someone who isn't an Epic, but there seem to be few of those and otherwise I'm incentivized to vote on the person who's getting exed anyway, which is something the village theorectically controls. Kill-wise it's against my interests to shoot trusted villagers when I can be exed at any time, so I'll generally be going for players that could plausibly be evil. Probably I will end up killing more villagers than elims like anyone else simply by virtue of number disparity. One explanation. is that he didn't bother submitting an action to talk to Karn. Another is that Archer's ability to speak to the dead is a passive, but that implies he has an active part of his role, like obscuring alignments for instance. Or he could just be lying about his role altogether, which suggests that he knows a teammate with the ability to hide alignments. I'm not supposed to be doing that. There's new rules about not using emotion to convince people of your alignment. I will try to keep that out of future posts. Will get to rest of posts later.- 1557 replies

Mid-Range Game 56: Day of Reckoning
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
That's one of my theories for why the elims aren't killing anybody. Arsonist was another but I don't know if that would be listed as a faction kill. Striker's an Epic, I just kill them. Any sort of scan role, but mine isn't too helpful for alignment purposes apparently. Killing and voting for the exe target both work for me. The obvious choice for this would be Archer able to obscure dead people's alignments as well as talk to them when they're not revealed, although it doesn't make sense that he would immediately claim if this was the case. There's no world in which I'm a good convert except for evil Stick who thought she would flip on death. Aman already wanted to kill me D1. It's simple but I would not say easy, especially now that I've had to claim. I would also like to kill as few village Epics as possible. Edit: Archer or someone with a similar role being the one to obscure alignments instead of a specific mechanic means that possibly only one person's alignment can be obscured per cycle, which would explain the lack of a kill but also that without an exe the elim or my kill could be obscured. Although there's much less value in hiding the alignment of the elim kill since killing one of their own would be extremely strange.- 1557 replies

I'm not going to keep trying to kill someone with a passive ability to block attacks. I have better things to do with my time, currently Epic scanning Archer since that's what people wanted. And if nobody else is going to vote for Stick there's no point in me doing so either.- 1557 replies

If Striker got hit with a kill he should have died since actions targeting him still happen to him. I am a neutral. I did try to kill Stick. It didn't work, and she claims it's because she can survive attacks. I'm not sure how that tracks with having destructive outcomes. Claiming a multi-powered role I guess.- 1557 replies

So long as I'm voting for the person who gets exed, yes. So I'm willing to switch my vote from _Stick_ to Karnatheon if the first one's not going to work. There's a good chance one of them is evil at least, but highly doubt e/e. Also I have one suggestion to scan Archer and am wondering if anyone else has an opinion. Mid-Range Game 56: Day of Reckoning
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
All actions that targeted Araris hit Kas, and all actions that targeted Kas hit Araris. Striker goes next and gets redirected from Araris to Kas, ensuring that all actions targeting Striker also hit Kas. Thus my scan of Striker hit Kas, while Orlok's scan of Kas hit Araris and revealed that he targeted Kas. Kas's riot is not affected and went through normally because Kas targeted Karn. Meanwhile, I am still dying and would prefer not to.- 1557 replies

So Araris targeted Kas, for what seems like a swapping ability. Anyone who targeted Araris (Striker, me indirectly) hit Kas, and anyone who targeted Araris (Orlok) hit Kas. I don't know why Kas would have been redirected to himself, I don't think that would have happened.- 1557 replies

Mid-Range Game 56: Day of Reckoning
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
Striker is telling the truth about this now, or being more honest at least. Since I have no chance against a rioter, I'll claim neutral Epic Hunter (not the real name). I have to kill X Epics total (at least one each of village and elim) with the exe or Y kills. I can scan someone for Epic powers every cycle instead of using a kill, and C1 I scanned Striker as an Epic, which then also bounced off and scanned Kas as an Epic. I still think there's a good chance Stick is evil for how weirdly hostile everyone is being, and do still want to kill mostly elims if possible, but also any kind of Epic isn't the worst thing for me so . @Thaidakar the Ghostblood what makes you think Archer is an elim Rioter?- 1557 replies

Mid-Range Game 56: Day of Reckoning
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
which is an assumption in and of itself that, again, I find to be odd because it really does seem like a result of elim TMI. 6. Says that being able to talk to the dead can be useful for both elims and village, and comments on how v!Mat reacted to getting exe’d D1: Which implies that Mat’s adamant efforts to stay in the game last turn should theoretically point to e!Mat since it doesn’t line up with v!Mat if youre gonna use that meta logic, right? Except devo never voted for Mat regardless. Which is just odd behaviour, regardless of Mat’s alignment. This sentence is…slippery. If v!Mat, this feels like an elim trying to phish for info without really directly doing so - if the claim ‘likely couldnt clear him’ then why would you want him to anyway? If Devo/Mat e/e, then I can easily see this as being an attempt to convince the thread to not hinge their votes on Mat claiming (subtely discouraging the idea of Mat roleclaiming) because ideally they would not want to give their role away if they didnt absolutely have to - cuz with a role like Mat’s being public knowledge, I feel like e!Mat wouldn’t be able to freely use it to give items to teammates without potentially exposing them. Doing ISOs is hard when you dont have a flip lmao too many possibilities my head do be hurting 9. Responds to my post, saying that their vote is mainly on me because I wasn’t too bothered about the tie and says “ which very much reads to me as elim because Devo assumed exactly this. 10. They belatedly acknowledge the above in this post and says that they arent sure if they want to vote on mat if his claim is true. Again, don’t see how that role means v!Mat. IMO it could be either. 13. Last post of C1, 6 minutes before rollover, says they’re gonna keep their vote on me, adds Contradicting post 10, which clearly implied Devo’s stance on Mat’s roleclaim to be otherwise. Well first, I said 'if v!Mat' This refers to Sonia and the book Reckoners, which are indeed devoted to killing Epics and have very few of their own. This is the same assumption that you had, i.e. that all elims would be Epics. I don't know if that's true then or now. This is from a game where Mat refused to tie since ties don't kill anyone, which is not the case in this game. I should have put more context for people who weren't going to look at that game. Mat could of course still be evil but I'm leaning more village by this point. I'm interested in what kind of role would be so village aligned. That doesn't mean I think he should claim. You did, and I do note that. Aman was the one who was interpreting a more positive view of that. I still assume that it would have been bad if e!Mat got one use of v!you's role. It is what I thought, yes. Not a great piece of evidence, true, since it's meaningless for a villager whether they think all the elims are Epics. There's a big difference between hesitating to vote for someone on the basis of their potentially helpful role and confirming them as village. I'll be around an hour before rollover just in time to probably die if anyone else wants to ask me anything. I'll keep the vote on Stick for now with Araris as second choice if that's more viable.- 1557 replies

Mid-Range Game 56: Day of Reckoning
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
You just need to have an elim alive to win, but I always lose solo unlike some people so I have to try and keep my teammates alive. If Stick flips village ideally it's because Mat was evil. If they're both village, I would take another look at whatever was going on with the Karnatheon train. More in Karn lean elim and the people who voted there lean village. Also at the people who didn't vote, which are TUA, STINK, Szeth, MintSilverTea, Orlok, Dannnex. Most of those were largely inactive though, and I note mostly that TUA claims regular which is village, STINK said he was 50/50 Mat and Karn and then didn't vote, which would be suspicious regardless of in v/v or v/e!Stick weighed against STINK apparently rarely voting D1, Orlok could not catch up to 17 pages of content with every-post analysis which makes sense for anyone because that's way too many posts, Dannnex wishes he was elim which is strange.- 1557 replies

I can't remember the last time I found e!Araris. I think it's because I think of elims as trying to keep each other alive and that's not necessary how Araris plays. My current suspicion of Araris is based on him potentially trying to keep e!Stick alive, but e!Araris frequently doesn't remove teammates from his suspicions like that.- 1557 replies
