What fascinates me is that there IS a correlation. Why is there any connection between Unmade powers and Radiant abilities?

Politics - like the scene where Navani describes every single chair? Shadesmar - I agree. It is a really cool place that I hoped to see eventually. But the whole time they were there, I just wanted to get "back to the action". I attribute Shallan's new control over her lightweaving to the Oath she spoke at the end of WoR (admitting she killed her mother). I believe something very similar happened to Kaladin's powers at the start of WoR. New characters and nations - and cities and unmade and fused and odium. And there is just a ton of stuff going on. It is hard to keep track of on a first reading. We've lost the shattered plains as the center of everything we care about. And it will never be that simple again. BUT - We have a lot of time between SA books to think about what the next one will be like. I remember being fairly discontented the first time I finished WoR. (And there were quite a few posts then expressing the same feelings you have here.) Now WoR is one of my all time favorites. There is a ton of stuff I loved about OB. With more time, I hope to appreciate it for the story it is, instead of what I speculated it would be.

Sell. The 10 flashback characters will become the 10 new heralds who re-establish the oathpact.

I'm thinking about the quote @MonsterMetroid showed us: "If a Radiant dies, they don't go to Braize. A Herald would, but a Herald is a Cognitive Shadow, so there's inherent problems in there. When you're a Cognitive Shadow, aging is different there, because you're basically a ghost. Even if you've been stapled to a body, it happens weirdly. So there's all kinds of flaws in that question." So, while on Braize, Heralds are cognitive shadows without bodies. Great. But is this saying when they come back to Roshar, they are staples to a new body? If so, are they inhabiting other people's bodies like the fused?

That makes a lot of sense. Still, right before bonding with Yelig-nar (or being possessed by Yelig-nar?) Amaram says Odium has been speaking with him for a long time. Odium promised him power. It sounds like they have been working together for a while. He can't have been under the direct influence of the thrill that whole time.

The people present were Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar, Szeth, Jasnah, Renarin, Lift, Taln, and Ash. That exactly matches nine of the flashback characters, so I think the person missing was ... Eshonai. Why would it be that when those nine stand together they instinctively feel both connected and like one person is missing? If it were just about having all ten orders of KR represented, it seems like an awful coincidence that they also all happen to be flashback characters. And if the missing person really is Eshonai, does that mean there is an in world reason the ten people flashback characters are important?

I went into this book with blind hatred for Amaram. "You did something incredibly unfair to Kaladin, therefore everything about you is bad!" Still, I expected to gain some understanding of Amaram's / Sons of Honor's motivation. I know I need to do a reread (I finished OB six hours ago), but why exactly did Amaram think joining Odium and opening himself to an Unmade would solve anything? Did that really align with the big picture goals of the SoH? I thought the final showdown itself was epic. Loved the poetic justice of Kaladin getting to fight Amaram - and of Rock taking up arms both to protect his Captain and kill the new Sadeas. Do I still hate Meridas Amaram: yes. Do I wish we had seen more of him before he died: absolutely.

SO MUCH GOODNESS! First and foremost, I am soooo happy for the support group that is Bridge Four. Also, anyone else pick out the etymology of Kaladin's name? -in = born unto (From Dalinar's flashback chapters where Adolin and Renarin are named.) Kalad = eternal (from the page of glyph translations. The first part of ever storm.) So, Kaladin is "born unto eternity"?

It's 10:48pm PST, and I *still* can't download my audio version of Oathbringer. But, while I'm here, I might as well join the wave of new sharders!
